Saints and Sinners, it’s a movie, it’s a hair salon, a tattoo pallor and a song but today it looks like the future for greater New Orleans and southeast Louisiana. The New Orleans Saints… no sports team is more cherished by its fans and those fans were greatly rewarded this past Sunday. Still, it is only a game or is it more than that? Certainly, the world wide attention generated by the Super Bowl is difficult to measure. How much would the New Orleans Visitors Bureau or the Chamber of Commerce pay to have “New Orleans” mentioned every minute for three hours to a global audience of millions? Ultimately, it is the reason the team was located here originally and why the NFL in one of their greatest public relations moves made sure it stayed here after Hurricane Katrina.
Can newly elected mayor of New Orleans, Mitch Landrieu, capitalized on the unity brought by this historic season of the Saints? He has a landslide victory and a true mandate to lead the city forward. If the leaders of New Orleans unify behind the newly elected mayor, the future looks bright for New Orleans. New Orleans has a long history of political divisiveness; let’s see if this opportunity gets seized.
For all of the Sinners out there who are now demonizing Peyton Manning--shame on you. Manning is the machine that drives the Colts franchise and the football world should be telling of his courageous performance against the ball-hawking, blitzing Saints defense.
Manning’s performance in Super Bowl XLIV does nothing to diminish his stature as a quarterback legend and the type of player any team would want to build a franchise around. I am sure the Colts are not looking to trade him but rather to help him win it all next year. Defeat often provides the seeds of victory.
New Orleans has a shining moment in history with the Saints victory and the election of Mitch Landrieu as its next mayor and we all need to seize this opportunity to make it a better place for everyone. Let’s hope we can.
hUMMMMM.... Perhaps in our case Carpi Deum really means "Diet of Carp".... And invert some of the letters and that kind of extrapolates out to "tide fo' crap"..... sheesh, even the obvious escapes you..... Written by

How can anyone call Peyton a loser, when he wins more games in 3 seasons than his dad won in 10? Written by

Yeah Charlie, when considering what a divining rod really is.... Down here in the deep swamp the general understanding is "yeah, we fixed the game"... And to tell you the truth, it doesn't matter, we know we got that one win, don't really care how it was done. And of course we also have the folks that in order to fit in with the cheer leading section and not wanting to be pegged as a 'malcontent' or an 'outsider' are wandering around chanting "Who Dat, Who Dat" like a bunch of swamp critter whoot owls. Sort of amusing, and then of course there are folks down here that just plain old out and out don't give a rat's patooey one way or another.... It's just another day in paradise...... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, the games people play.... You should be what the consensus around the nation is.... No amount of spin or talk show blah-blah-blah is going to alleviate it. But then again, the general consensus around the nation is "Who really cares", because tomorrows news will be the same news we had last week, the economy... Written by

You're right. Archie was always a hero and we were proud of Peyton as a native son. He was gracious in defeat but has been villified by the ESPN-type sports shows this morning as a failure. That's shameful and looks like a CYA move as they all predicted his greatness along with the Colts anticipated win. I'm not what one would call a real religious person but it sure looked like there was a lot of divine intervention in the Saint's miraculous season. Written by Charlie Smith
