Lining up outside San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium on Monday were the next round of American Idol hopefuls who bravely faced hard-core rejection in order to pursue their dream. Waiting in line at 3 a.m. for a chance, although Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson were there to meet a few possible contenders, the majority of wanna-be contestants didn't even make it past stage one, which is to sing a note or two in front of a random person with the key to the next round. Still... if nothing else, the courage they gain from the ordeal is well worth it!
After Lindsay Lohan's parents faced-off again in court, a New York judge ordered Michael Lohan to get a job and start forking over $500 per week in child support to ex-wife, Dina and their two younger daughters. While currently living in a faith-based drug treatment center in West Babylon, Newsday reports that he plans to open his own rehab and crisis center at a Southampton church on September 4.
And as for his daughter, Lindsay, her estranged pop had this to say: "I've been trying to speak to her. She's suffering from exactly the same thing I've been suffering."
No longer suffering through a custody battle and divorce proceedings are Britney Spears and Kevin Federline who, as of Monday, are officially divorced. Putting a rocky ending behind them, the two parents have made nice and will share custody of their boys.
Saw director Darren Lynn Bousman is plotting production for his latest big-screen musical thriller titled Repo! The Genetic Opera, and he has recruited Paris Hilton to join the cast alongside Paul Sorvino and Alexa Vega. The story is about a futuristic plague that descends upon the human race, with the ability to finance a pricey organ transplant representing the only hope for survival. According to Hilton, the upcoming movie is a "very cool and unique project."
Speaking of Hilton, although her life became not-so-simple after a 23 day jail sentence, The Simple Life show on E! Television has simply come to an end. Airing this weekend is the series finale and then... that's all folks!
Finally, Cameron Diaz will star in My Sister's Keeper, a Nick Cassavetes-directed adaptation of Jodi Picoult's novel, according to Variety. Playing a former defense attorney, Diaz's character returns to the courtroom to defend herself and her husband after their 13-year-old daughter sues them for medical emancipation in order to avoid donating a kidney to her older sister, who's suffering from leukemia.
