This year the session begins March 29.
The main presenter at the LICs is LABI President Dan Juneau. Juneau will discuss LABI’s priorities for the upcoming session, the state’s fiscal outlook, and federal legislation that could dramatically affect Louisiana businesses.

Louisiana Meetings
Our Web site has been updated with the following interim committee meeting notice(s) as of January 15, 2010.
Vice President Joseph Biden when he visited New Orleans on Friday announced an additional $29.7 million in funds for the New Orleans Recovery Authority (NORA).The funds are part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) and were included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which Sen. Landrieu supported.
Sen. Landrieu has said that HUD announced last July that NSP funds may be used for properties damaged or destroyed by natural disasters. Prior to a request by Sen. Mary Landrieu, NSP funds were not eligible for properties that were not foreclosed upon, abandoned or declared blighted. According to estimates by the Greater New Orleans Community Data Center, there are currently about 65,000 distressed properties in the city.
ACORN
The Pelican Institute will be holding a luncheon on Thursday, January 21 at the Plimsoll Club in the WorldTradeCenter. The featured speaker will be investigative journalist and filmmaker James O'Keefe.
James' videos of ACORN employees providing advice on how to break the law created a sensation. Shortly after the videos were released Congress voted to defund ACORN.
James has been a pioneer in the use of new media to drive these kinds of important stories. He will discuss the role of new media and show you examples of effective undercover video.
Somebody on NOLA is blaming Bayoubuzz.com for putting up news info about an event already held by Pelican Institute. Now, that makes sense. The arrest just happened. Did the Pelican institute know that O'Keefe would be arrested? Did Bayoubuzz.com know? Who knew? The FBI? Here is Bayoubuzz announcing that LABI was having a program. So, if Dan Juneau of LABI gets arrested many days later after a program is mentioned in the news, I guess the news article that mentions Juneau as being a business leader should be blamed for saying so. Duh? Written by ErnieW.

Exactly, O'Keefe played a huge role in ending The Year of Living Dangerously. Democratic party corruption like ACORN has taken a hit, but for every bit of power they lost on Tuesday, they added a degree of desperation. O'Keefe should have plenty of new leads as he watches the democratic machine attempt to put the socialist empire back together again. Written by

Mr. O'Keefe deserves a medal. His film will keep ACORN from being responsible for taking the census. Hell ... his image should be cut into Mount Rushmore. Written by kpf
