Louisiana Gov Jindal Picks Real Estate Commission, Education Council

BATON ROUGE - Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced four gubernatorial appointments to the Southern Regional Education Advisory Council.  He also made appointments to the Real Estate Commmission.

 

The council serves to advise the Southern Regional Education Board on matters regarding the advancement of education and improvement of the social and economic life in Louisiana. The Southern Regional Education Board is a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization based in Atlanta, Georgia that advises state education leaders on improving education. SREB was created in 1948 by Southern governors and legislatures to help leaders in education and government work cooperatively to advance education and improve the social and economic life of the region.

 

Appointments to the Southern Regional Education Advisory Council:

 

Austin Badon, of New Orleans, is currently a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives representing the 100th District and is also a member of the House Education Committee.

 

Gerald Long, of Winnfield, is currently a member of the Louisiana State Senate representing the 31st District and is also a member of the Senate Education Committee.

 

Ben Nevers, of Bogalusa, is currently a member of the Louisiana State Senate representing the 12th District and is also serving as chair of the Senate Education Committee.

 

Don Trahan, of Lafayette, is currently a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives representing the 31st District and is also serving as chair of the House Education Committee.

 

Also, today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced two appointments to the Louisiana Real Estate Commission. The Louisiana Real Estate Commission serves to protect the public interest in real estate transactions and other real estate related activities.

 

Patrick T. Caffery, Jr. was appointed to the board representing the 6th Real Estate District and Tim Flavin was selected at large.

 

Appointments to the Louisiana Real Estate Commission:

 

Patrick T. Caffery, Jr., of New Iberia, has been a real estate broker since 1978 and is currently the broker and owner of Caffery Real Estate, Inc.

 

Tim Flavin, of Lake Charles, has been the general manager and co-owner of Flavin Realty since 1995. He is also currently the president of Flavin Construction and Flavin Investments, L.L.C.
