Hollywood Buzz: Foxy Brown, American Idol, Britney Spears, Anna Nicole Smith, Tom Cruise

Stirring up more trouble was Foxy Brown who 'just said no' to getting on the bus from Rikers Island to Brooklyn where she could be arraigned on assault charges stemming from her August arrest for allegedly roughing up a neighbor. Looks as if she's got "Naomi Campbell syndrome." According to prosecutors, the hip-hopper must appear on Tuesday or else she will "face the consequences," which involves handcuffs and force.

Forcing the American Idol Live! tour organizers to pay $5,000 for violating various child labor laws including failing to notify the state that two of the performers on the tour, winner Jordin Sparks and former contestant Sanjaya Malakar, were minors is the New York State Department of Labor.

And confirming that Orlando Bloom was involved in a minor car crash in Los Angeles around 2:15 a.m. was LAPD Media Relations. While the actor was driving a 2003 Toyota Matrix, another driver cut him off, resulting in him hitting a parked car. Two female passengers in Bloom's car suffered injuries in the fender bender but nothing too serious. However, unlike Bloom, who had no alcohol in his system during the accident, Hector Manuel Velazquez-Nava, the 25-year-old driver who hit and killed A Christmas Story director, Robert Clark and his son, had a blood-alcohol level that was three times the legal limit. Thus, he was sentenced to six years in state prison. Only six years?!

Britney Spears' new album, Blackout, is soon to hit the scene with songs including "Get Naked (I Got a Plan)," "Why Should I Be Sad," "Ooh Ooh Baby," and "Freakshow."

Months after the death of Anna Nicole Smith, California Department of Justice investigators served warrants Friday in connection with her death, carrying out raids on the homes and offices of two of Smith's doctors, Sandeep Kapoor and Khristine Eroshevich, which is a good thing. Now, I don't mean to get all Tom Cruise-ish regarding this topic, but there is a rapid increase in drug addiction, accidental overdoses, which, in Smith's case, ended in her death, pill-popping suicides and other extremely harmful outcomes resulting from psychiatrists over prescribing medications that are HIGHLY addictive! Therefore, although Tom Cruise's reaction to prescribed meds seemed over-the-top, the opinionated actor was on to something. In my opinion, many shrinks using medications to Band-Aid their patients' issues without an awareness of what this type of "Band-Aiding" can do to patients with addictive personalities is a true crime. What can we do about it? I don't know, exactly. However, being more knowledgeable on the dangers attached to prescribed meds without blindly following a shrink's instructions is a start.

Al Gore brought global warming issues to the surface in his documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, which also landed him a Nobel Peace Prize. The Nobel committee called him, "one of the world's leading environmental politicians."

Turning Will Smith's 2005, Hitch, into a series is well... Will Smith. However, this go-around, Smith won't star in the series.

Finally, Uma Thurman's stalker, Jack Jordan (35), was arrested last week outside her Manhattan home and was charged with stalking, aggravated harassment, and attempted coercion. The felony complaint against him states that he sent her letters, drawings, emailed members of her family and showed up at her house once or twice daily.

Happy weekend! See you tomorrow for another edition of Hollywood Buzz.

Thank you for this article. There is definetly an increase of drug addiction and I agree that more attention shld be put on this and people shld be cautious of what they are taking. My Uncle is a well known medical doctor in Normal and follows the principal that healing naturely is the best way of going about healing. Psych drugs have very alarming side effects which should be taken into account as they cause a lot more damage compared to how they "heal". Best, Camilla
