The Fourth Louisiana Cultural Economy Summit, developed under the leadership of Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu opens Thursday October 29 and will conclude October 30 in New Orleans.The summit is part of Landrieu’s cultural economy initiative, and will provide valuable tools for Louisiana’s cultural workers, organizations and businesses to survive and thrive in these difficult financial times.
The Summit will feature top internationally and nationally known speakers, professional development seminars and small break-out sessions that will give the state’s cultural workers practical tools to build their cultural enterprise and personal cultural career. The Summit will also provide attendees ample opportunities for professional networking with other Louisiana cultural stakeholders.
Since 2004 with the creation of his Cultural Economy Initiative , Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu has worked to develop policy, legislation, organizations and collaborations that have helped position Louisiana’s cultural economy.The Cultural Economy Summits, with its Fourth convening in 2009, aim to organize and advance this newly-recognized industry.
