Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced a number of new board members and two appointments to the Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA).
The Louisiana Recovery Authority, started by Governor Blanco after Hurricane Katrina and Rita, works to secure funding and other resources needed for recovery, establish principles and policies for redevelopment, lead long-term community and regional planning efforts, ensure transparency and accountability in the investment of recovery funds, and communicate progress, status and needs of the recovery to officials, community advocates and the public.
The board is composed of thirty members appointed by the governor with no less than two members from each congressional district.
According to a press release, Governor Jindal supports HB 622 by Jim Tucker which authorizes the Louisiana Recovery Authority to implement programs that include programs which target recovery efforts and also significantly reduces the size of the LRA Board down from twenty-nine to thirteen gubernatorial appointees.
Appointment to the Louisiana Recovery Authority:
Jas Gill, of LaPlace, served as the president of Cytec Industries Inc. from 2002 to 2007. Gill received a bachelor’s of science in chemical engineering from OklahomaStateUniversity and later received an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
Patricia Schuster Leblanc, of Metairie, is the former chair of the Jefferson’s Home Rule Charter Advisory Board. Leblanc received a bachelor’s of arts from TulaneUniversity and later received a law degree from Loyola University School of Law.
Also today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the reappointment of Tommy Arnold to the Louisiana State Mineral Board following Byron Adams withdrawing from his appointment to the position Monday. Byron Adams sent a letter to the Governor’s office withdrawing from his appointment to the board after he learned of a potential conflict of interest between his family and his upcoming service to the state.
The Louisiana State Mineral Board is the state body with the authority to lease state property for the development and production of minerals, oil, and gas.
The board consists of eleven members, nine of which are appointed by the governor. The board is also comprised of the Governor and Secretary Scott Angelle of the Department of Natural Resources.
Tommy Arnold, of Harvey, has been the general manager of Timberlane Country Club since 2000 and has served as a member of the Louisiana State Mineral Board since 1997.
In addition, Governor Bobby Jindal announced appointments to the Louisiana State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
The Louisiana State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners serves to regulate physical therapists and physical therapist assistants who wish to practice in Louisiana.
According to statute, the board includes physical therapists who must have practiced for no less than three years, one of whom must be selected from a list of nominations submitted by the Louisiana Hospital Association and one physician submitted by the Louisiana State Medical Society. JoAnn Robichaux was nominated by the Louisiana Hospital Association. Michael Dole, M.D., was nominated by the Louisiana State Medical Society.
Appointments to the LouisianaState Board of Physical Therapy Examiners:
Michael Dole, M.D., of Alexandria, is currently a physiatrist and owns a private practice in Alexandria.
Jerry Jones, of Cloutierville, currently works at Guidroz Physical Therapy in Natchitoches and has been practicing physical therapy for eight years.
Al C. Moreau, of Baton Rouge,is currently the director and partner at Moreau Physical Therapy and has been practicing physical therapy for more than thirty years.
JoAnn Robichaux, of New Orleans, is currently the inpatient rehab manager at OchsnerHealthCenter in New Orleans and has been practicing physical therapy for twenty-one years.
