BATON ROUGE - Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced three appointments to the Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners.

The Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners serves to regulate licensed professional counselors who wish to practice in Louisiana.

According to statute, the board is comprised of ten gubernatorial appointments, nine of which represent Louisiana’s licensed counselors and therapists. Three of the appointments must be educators who are licensed professional counselors and who train mental health counselors in accredited programs. One member will serve as an at-large member. The appointments are subject to senate confirmation.

Appointments to the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners:

Gloria Bockrath, of Baton Rouge, has worked in private practice for more than twenty years. Bockrath teaches psychology at Baton Rouge Community College and has a doctorate in counselor education from the University of New Orleans.

Gary Grand, of Alexandria, is a former nursing home and hospital administrator and is a board member of the Southern States Psychiatric Hospital Association and the Central Louisiana Senior Citizens Organization. Grand will serve on the board as the at-large member.

N. Tom Moore, of Benton, is a coordinator in the Department of Continuing Education and Public Service and is an adjunct faculty member for LSU Shreveport’s Department of Psychology. Moore has a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Abilene Christian University and was nominated by the Louisiana Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
