BATON ROUGE - Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointments of a number of appointments to important commissions and boards.
One of his appointments was Blaine Sheets and to the Greater Baton Rouge Port Commission.
The Greater Baton Rouge Port Commission is responsible for the regulation of commerce and traffic within the Greater Baton Rouge Port area. According to statute, the board consists of fifteen appointments nominated by the legislative delegations representing Ascension, East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge and Iberville Parishes. Blaine Sheets was nominated by the legislative delegation representing Ascension Parish.
Blaine J. Sheets, of Gonzales,is the owner of Specialized Industrial Maintenance and is a former member of the Board of Commissioners for the Pontchartrain Levee District.
Also today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Kerrilyn Rogers Phillips to the Louisiana Board of Examiners of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
The Louisiana Board of Examiners of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology serves to regulate, enforce and evaluate the qualifications of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology applicants. The board also serves to protect the public’s health, safety, and welfare from unauthorized and unprofessional conduct by speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and speech-language pathology assistants.
According to statute, the board is composed of speech-language pathologists or audiologists who must have practiced for no less than five years. One member must be a physician nominated by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners and one member must be an at-large member. Kerrilyn Rogers Phillips was nominated to the board by the Louisiana Speech-Language Hearing Association. Phillips will fill a vacancy on the board.
Kerrilyn Rogers Phillips, of West Monroe, is currently an associate speech professor at LouisianaTechUniversity and is a former associate partner at Speech-Language Pathology Associates.
In addition, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of William Hidalgo to the Board of Commissioners for theSt. Mary Levee District.
The Board of Commissioners of the St. Mary Levee District is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the levees and maintaining the levee drainage system within St. Mary Parish.
According to statute, the board is composed of nine appointments which are subject to senate confirmation. William Hidalgo was selected as an at-large member from a list of nominations represented by the St. Mary Parish legislative delegation.
William Hidalgo, of Morgan City, is currently the manager and owner of Halimar Shipyard, LLC and is also a registered professional civil engineer and land surveyor. Hidalgo is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Louisiana Engineering Society.
