Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced three appointments to state government.

Here are the announcements of the appointments:

Oscar Rollins to the Louisiana State Board of Embalming and Funeral Directors.

The Louisiana State Board of Embalming and Funeral Directors regulates embalmers, funeral homes, and funeral directors, and handles consumer complaints. It also establishes requirements for funeral homes and individuals engaged in the care and disposition of the deceased.

The board is composed of nine gubernatorial appointments which are subject to senate confirmation. The board includes four licensed embalmers and four licensed funeral directors. Two such members were selected from each district as follows:

  • Two members are selected from District A, comprised of Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines Parish.
  • Two members are selected from District B, comprised of Vernon, Rapides, Avoyelles, Concordia, Catahoula, LaSalle, Grant, Natchitoches, Sabine, DeSoto, Red River, Winn, Caldwell, Franklin, Tensas, Madison, Richland, Ouachita, Jackson, Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Webster, Claiborne, Lincoln, Union, Morehouse, West Carroll, and East Carroll Parish.
  • Two members are selected from District C, comprised of the parishes of Beauregard, Allen, Evangeline, St. Landry, St. Martin, Iberia, St. Mary, Lafayette, Acadia, Calcasieu, Jefferson Davis, Cameron, and Vermilion Parish.
  • Two members are selected from District D, comprised of Pointe Coupee, West Feliciana, East Feliciana, St. Helena, Tangipahoa, Washington, St. Tammany, St. John the Baptist, St. Charles, Lafourche, Terrebonne, Assumption, Iberville, West Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge, Livingston, Ascension, and St. James Parish.

In addition, one member who must be sixty years of age or over is selected to serve on the board as a representative of the elderly consumers of Louisiana.

Oscar Rollins, of Gonzales, is the owner and manager of the Lawson-Rollins Purple Shield Funeral Home.  Rollins has previously served on this board and is a veteran of the armed forces.  He will represent Funeral District D, as required by statute.

Recovery Authority (LRA) Boar.

The Louisiana Recovery Authority Board serves to secure funding and other resources needed for recovery, establish principles and policies for redevelopment, lead long-term community and regional planning efforts, ensure transparency and accountability in the investment of recovery funds, and communicate progress, status and needs of the recovery to officials, community advocates and the public.

Recent legislation reduced the number of gubernatorial appointments to the Louisiana Recovery Authority Board. According to statute, the new seventeen member board is comprised of thirteen gubernatorial appointments which are subject to senate confirmation. No less than one member is selected from each congressional district. Additionally, the speaker and the speaker pro tempore of the House of Representatives and the president and the president pro tempore of the Senate or their respective designees will serve on the board.

Roy O. Martin III, of Alexandria, is an officer and director at Roy O. Martin Lumber Company, LLC.  Martin is a member of the Greater Alexandria Economic development Committee and the LSU Health Sciences Foundation.  He will represent 5th Congressional District, as required by statute.

Well you see Tony G, you made the fatal mistake of caring....... Simple as that.... Oh, and not going to all the right places and rubbing elbows with all the right people......... In short, you spent your life working, earning a living, and being honest while taking care of your family..... You simply are not a 'groomed' political accouterment...... Piyush is an amazing little cultivated thing…… He rose from the status of Anchor baby to that of a Congressman, and then the Guv with slobberings about VEEP potential…. Sort of Spooky when a person thinks about it and gives a person cause for a pause to wonder about the guiding hands in the background that are making his career possible….. You are probably better off distancing yourself from this guy Tony G….. He has a familiar odor to him……… I notice every time his Hannah Montana, Myley Cyrus type exposure is lacking someone else picks up on him for a quick lame spin on something for national television…. Yes, he is truly amazing….. Perhaps it isn’t Obama, but it is Piyush who is the anti-Christ……………… ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!!!!!!!!
