BATON ROUGE, La. – Louisiana and Governor Bobby Jindal have hit another high ranking.
Piggybacking on the Center of Public Disclosure’s ranking of Louisiana as the Number One state in the nation in public disclosure, a recent Portfolio.com analysis of how all 50 states and the District of Columbia fared during the recession, Louisiana ranked second best with an overall economic index of 7.298. North Dakota was the only state that fared better than Louisiana with an overall economic index of 7.463.
"Portfolio.com's analysis underscores what we have known for a long time -- Louisiana's economy consistently has outperformed the South and the U.S. since the beginning of the national recession," said Gov. Bobby Jindal. "While we are pleased with this ranking, we will continue to aggressively pursue economic development efforts so that we can remain ahead of the South and the U.S., but more importantly, so that we can create more opportunity for our people."
Using data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis and Federal Housing Finance Agency, the analysis evaluated all 50 states and the District of Columbia on six different categories, including job growth, current unemployment, income growth, wage growth, home value growth and construction job growth over the past year. Each state's results were compared to corresponding national averages in the six categories. Above-average performances received positive scores, while below-average scores received negative scores.
"Strengthening Louisiana's economy and improving our state's business climate has been our top priority since taking office last year," said Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Stephen Moret. "We are encouraged by the recent Portfolio.com ranking, yet we know we have a lot of work left to do to ensure that we consistently outperform the South and the U.S."
Louisiana's position has improved across a variety of national business climate rankings over the last two years, including Forbes.com's Best States for Business, Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council's Business Tax Index and Small Business Survival Index, Beacon Hill Institute's State Competitiveness Report, Pacific Research Institute's Economic Freedom Index, CNBC's America's Top States for Business, Kauffman's State New Economy Index and State Policy Reports' Index of Economic Momentum.
In addition, Louisiana currently ranks in the top five in ethics rankings published by the Better Government Association, and Center for Public Integrity recently announced Louisiana's legislative disclosure requirement was first in the nation. Louisiana also won the Co-state of the Year award from Southern Business and Development.
North Dakota who is the leader in the portfolio.com award received a C from the Center of Public Disclosure.
Forgot there Kp, it was Ursa, not Auger, anyways, dancey pants…. Hmmmmmm,,, Pitter-patter-pitter-patty-tappy-tappy-tap-tap-turn-dip-twist- pitter-patter-pitter-patty-tappy-tappy-tap-tap…………. Well, I suppose to those that can afford dancey pants it would be sort of irresistible, but the price for smokes and beers is outrageous, and going out to a ‘dancey fest hall’ is getting a bit expensive as well so I don’t believe those will be the ‘big draw’ this X-must season….. Opportunity… that is what is missing from the equation… I guess that ship has done sailed for many and it ain’t never coming back.. This new reality is going to be a beach fer sum I do believe…… Written by

It uses unemployment as a factor in determining who is best. The unemployment statistic is an artificial measure of the economy that often underreports the true number of people who are looking for work as it only counts those who collect unemployment and doesn't count those whose benefits have run out. A majority of the nation took the stimulus unemployment extension but Louisiana did not. This means that Louisiana citizens will drop off the unemployment rolls faster than the rest of the nation and not be counted. So we should not be shocked if we have a lower unemployment rate. Ever notice how "statistics" on how well the economy is doing means nothing for those out of work? Most people I know who are unable to find a job are actually unable to find a job they are willing to take - which is not the same thing. I know people who are on unemployment who "don't want to get their hands dirty" - thank goodness Obama is extending their unemployment benefits. I know I am more than happy to give them my hard earned wages so they can keep their hands clean. After all, they are white-collar workers, and above such menial tasks such as manual labor. I guess they feel those tasks are best left to people with a darker complexion? Written by kpf

I doubt I would be swayed by the "carrot" of a Pet Rock; I would run down to X-Mart if they said "dancy-pants" were the greatest Christmas gift, that I sure enough-yes-by-gooly-gee-by-gumfry-hell's-fire-dang-sure-you-betcha-by-yimminy would. Written by me, yeah, me, no? HAH!?

If you were to be told <by this cumulative conglomerated propaganda blitzkrieg organization> that pet rocks were the greatest Christmas gift for 2009 everyone would be running each other over in a heated rush trying to get to the nearest Walmart or Target Store to buy one… Written by

Portfolio.com is owned by bizjournals which in turn is owned by American City Business Journals which is is an American newspaper chain based in Charlotte, North Carolina owned by Advance Publications. Advance Publications, Inc., is an American media company and was ranked as the 41st largest private company according to Forbes (Nov 17, 2008) and the largest privately held media company. In other words, it is a propaganda entity that is fueled by advertising dollars and derives some of its profit base from circulation and subscription markets….. If you were to be told that pet rocks were the greatest Christmas gift for 2009 everyone would be running each other over in a heated rush trying to get to the nearest Walmart or Target Store to buy one… (Of course the smart ones would simply go to the nearest gravel supply store and scoop some up for free, that’s what’s known as incentive. Oh, and that's what they would sell you at their little corner nickle and dime store for $5.98) Louisiana ranked second best with an overall economic index of 7.298. North Dakota was the only state that fared better than Louisiana with an overall economic index of 7.463??? Well, I guess in the current mood of ‘Corporate downsizing’ and ‘TARP funds’ and ‘Corporate bailouts’ one would have to take a Corporate view when considering the ‘6’ different catagories…. But here is a big hint; North Dakota’s total population is a little over 640 thousand people…. Not too many people to have to manage, hell, even a fry cook at McDonald's could probably handle the job for the economic development supervisor up there... There are so few folks to worry about there that they could probably live off buffalo meat up there and still survive, I think there is a buffalo for every man woman and child up there so that isn’t saying too much….. The only thing that keeps the statistics in line is the folks up there still practice the curious habits that were pretty much standard around the rest of the nation during the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s… And that is; after 6:00 at night everyone is pretty much at home sitting in front of the T.V. eating frozen t.v. dinners….. Of course they spent a lot of time weaning their selves off of SAC-NORAD (Strategic Air Command - North American Aerospace Defense Command) money with all the silo closures, and with all the new ethanol/corn subsidies and support of course the farmers (which is what most of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Montana who I am sure are ranking somewhere around the same on the list) are doing great, as is the fact that wheat is over $10.00 per bushel….. Interesting thing, the Melroe Bobcat manufacturer (One of the major players in a state of a little over ½ million folks), which last I saw was up in Fargo, North Dakota while I was wandering around up there is now owned by the Koreans…… Oh, it's still there for now, but you never know about those crafty lil' Koreans now do you? So again… Corporate Downsizing…. I think land can be had at around 750 an acre if you purchase a sizeable tract, so building a home is no sweat when it comes to affordability, and crime? Well, same as anywhere else, if you ain’t in front of the T.V. eating a t.v. dinner after 6:30 P.M. you can be subjected to it…. And pay? Nahhhhh, I saw lots of poor people up there…. Not even going to get into the Louisiana side of things, we all know it’s a bunch of bullsh^t going on right now, boats are stacked up from the Sabine Pass to the Harvey Canal one on top of another…. And I would hope our construction is up after all the federal funds which amounted to many, many, many billions upon billions of dollars that were pumped into our economy by the federal government to replace a bunch of dilapidated old obsolete outdated buildings and stuff which should have gone a long way….. Seriously, all this article is, is some more bulls^t propaganda…. But I feels so good while I much on my dreamsicle……… Yuuuuuuuuuummmmmm,,,, Chocolate fudge covered vanilla with a real wooden stick!!!!! Written by
