Written by: Jeff Crouere

Louisiana and the political community appears to be facing another major embarrassment as according to sources, Derrick Shepherd (Louisiana State Senator from Marerro) is being indicted under federal charges today for money laundering.

Shepherd has been the target of a an investigation and many political watchers have been suspecting that the shoe would drop on Shepherd.

Ironically, Shepherd ran against William “Bill” Jefferson for Congress .  He is in the military and has proudly fought for the United States.

In 2005, Shepherd authored the legislation making Martin Luther King Day a state holiday.  Bayoubuzz will provide more information as it becomes available.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh diaperman, again............Well of course he used 'taxpayers' money...Duhhhhhhhhhhhhh, it is called 'his salary'. Next brilliant question or statement of observation??????? In other words, where do you think he got the money to pay for the hooker in the first place? By winning the Lottery?.... Oh, ok, you win, his kids paid for the hooker, he took the money to pay for her out of their piggy banks......................... Ahhhh.... but then comes the perplexing question, where did the kids get the money from that was in their piggy bank? What a Moron.............. Hey diaperman, Q: How do you start a fire with two sticks? A: Make sure one of them is a match.....

If only those damned Republicans had the same principles and morals as the Democrats have things would be.... exactly as they are now. Of course grouping individuals into categories ("Republican" or "Females" or "Negroes" or "Jews" or whatever else) merely shows how one doesn't understand that we are INDIVIDUALS who make our choices individually - that is OUTSIDE of how someone "like us" may make these choices. Of course, Nazis have trouble with understanding this concept; do try not to have trouble with this distinction your own self. "Guilt" is not a shared characteristic due to political leanings, skin color or anything else. If you group people and assign guilt to all "who are similar" then you are thinking like a Nazi. If you think all who belong to whatever political party you belong to are good and decent people, you are a fool.

His salary are was it written off on state expense.Like business entertainment and then who paid for the car and gas? Do Republicans consider this to be just one of the perks of working for the state.

Professor I am glad you agree with me that both men need to step down. The reason I view Vitter as the same is he has called others unfit to serve, while he says it ok for him. Vitter is sitting and watching the woman who helped him get his freak on,go to jail, while he is protected. The other thing I want to know is did he use Taxpayer money to pay for his trips and the hooker. As a Taxpayer I feel this question needs to answered, and if he did use taxpayer money for this,he is a crook. Why does the man refuse to say he at least did not use any of the states money for his own pleasure.

News flash!!!! RW has never really been the forefront on these articles, a front perhaps, (First to post on more than just a number of cursory occaisons, but then again you figure out the correlation in that statement) but nothing of any lucidity. And as far as the officials in office? Ya'll voted them in. Now live with it. It is what you do with them after they are in office that counts............. So move on from this stupid buzzy bored, figure out what the state needs, what is available for it out there, what you or someone else you know of can do to help improve the situations in this state, get out there and do it, or at least contact your elected representative and tell them about what you know......... What a bunch of cry babies.

Come on, Diaperman - you cannot equate soliciting a prostitute to conspiracy and money laundering. I agree with your conclusion that both men need to step down, but your reasoning is off. I also agree with RW in that both parties are at fault. Except, I go one further. It has nothing to do with parties. Even aploticial people are corrupted. Corporate men are crooked. Jobless people break the law. Foreigners are illegal. People from all classes, races, backgrounds, political ideologies, and mindsets break the law. What is the commonality of all of these? They are all human. So, don't say, "Well, so-and-so is a Republican and they didn't step down, so why should this Democrat step down?" Instead, you should be saying, "So-and-so broke the law, and is therefore subject to whatever penalties are imposed."

I am tired of RW taking the forefront on these forums. So I told the old lady that I was going to take my stand. Now let's stop the bickering about Democrat and Republican. The fact of the matter is that all politicians are alike. Give them a chance and they might take the bait. Evidently some have from the reports on indictments that I have seen over the months. Now insofar as those politicians involved in the scandals of the houses of ill repute or whatever nice name you want to use. Not much of a group of men, if you ask me. Take them all out. I agree with RW on that one. I saw the tough guy act on tv yesterday. Tough it out gentlemen and disclose all of the "men" involved in the bawdy house scandals.

Republicans always have an excuse for why the democrats do the right thing, while their own people refuse to do what it is right.

Spitzer's prosecuter background taught him the benefits of a deal. Resign and stay out of jail, hopefully.

Why should he? The Republicans have shown through Vitter and Larry Craig,no man ever neeeds to resign. Now the democrat Governor of New York did the right thing by resigning, but not one Republican has followed his footsteps in doing the right thing.I think he needs to go but why should he resign when Republicans just stay in office.

No I have never broken the law and hired a hooker as Vitter. No I am never said any man who cheats on his wife is unfit to serve in any office as Vitter has said. I have said Vitter needs to live by the words he calls on others to live by. I have never needed to watch a woman go to jail, for selling me a hooker as Vitter is doing right now. I have never said we need to pass laws against same sex marriage as Vitter has. Vitter wants to force his false morals on others why he breaks his very own words.

Hey Diaperman, ever get any strange stuff? I doubt it, but did you ever buy some old gal a few drinks and somehow get lucky? Did you report it to your mom and dad afterwards?

The odds are about the same as Vitter sleeping with Hookers and lying about it. They both need to go and only when we get rid of all people like this can Louisiana improve. If you only take half of the garbage out your house the half you left inside still makes your house smell bad.

Two New Orleans democrats, already incumbents in separate offices for years, well-loved by their constituents, running for the same office and they both turn out to be crooks, what are the odds?
