I hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day. I spent most of my day with my beloved Tito and Chiquita who gave me a lot of unconditional love. As always I love to attend the annual VCPORA’s Mother’s Day Concert at Cabrini Park with the melodic sounds of the New Leviathan Oriental Fox Trot Orchestra.
Before getting into the other things I did this week and the events that are coming up, I must post this important notice right here at the beginning of my column. Tuesday, May 12 has been declared THE POWER OF TOURISM IN NEW ORLEANS DAY! All hospitality industry workers, cultural economy employees, musicians, performers, tourism writers, tour guides and everyone else with an interest and stake in the health of our tourism industry are strongly urged to participate in a 30-minute Travel Rally from 10-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. At that time we will march along Canal Street from Bourbon Street to the Riverfront to showcase the importance of tourism to New Orleans. Guests and visitors are invited to participate as well!
Those planning to participate should begin gathering at Bourbon and Canal starting at 9:30 a.m. Bring signs.
This week as well always there are more fun things that I can attend but I sure will try.
