I hope you had a nice week. I sure enjoyed mine that included the preview premiere party of “Sex and the City,” seeing the film as a guest of Saks Fifth Avenue at Canal Place and attending the fabulous, elegant "Dancing with the Stars" fundraiser Gala for BRAVO, the volunteer organization of the New Orleans Ballet Association at the beautifully decorated for the occasion Union Passenger Terminal.
Before, I share with you the myriad of fun events that have been scheduled for this week, I want to congratulate Chef Anthony Spizale of the Omni Royal Orleans’ Rib Room. Executive Chef Spizale took home New Orleans Wine & Food Experience's "Best of Show" medal for the Saturday Grand Tasting competition over Memorial Day weekend! Chef Spizale received the award for his innovative dish, Gulf Fish & Shrimp with Creole Tomatoes and Herbs in Carta Fata paper. Over 75 restaurants participated in this year's Grand Tastings held on Friday, May 23 and Saturday May 24 in the Louisiana Superdome with a distinguished panel of culinary journalists judging each dish. On Wednesday, June 11, Chef Spizale will be the third New Orleans chef featured in a dining series at the popular Castle Restaurant in one of Natchez's most historic and gracious plantations, Dunleith. The chef will feature signature dishes from The Rib Room that have made the restaurant one of New Orleans' most popular since it opened in 1960.

New Orleans Museum of Art evening hours promotes Recovery
The New Orleans Museum of Art has initiated new evening hours one day a week. The Museum is now open every Wednesday from Noon until 8:00 pm. The adjacent Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden will be open from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm on Wednesdays as well. The Museum and Garden also are open Thursday through Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The purpose of the extended hours is not only to make the Museum available in the evening for students and those who work during the day but to help to promote the many fine restaurants, both old and new, in the MidCity area. So after touring the Museum, visitors are encouraged to have dinner at an area restaurant. A list of MidCity participating restaurants will be available at the Museum.
Besides viewing its permanent collections and special exhibitions, NOMA is planning additional activities for visitors on Wednesday nights, including films, music and refreshments.
During the Rodrigue Exhibition, through June 6, admission is $5.00 for Louisiana resident adults and $10 for non-resident adults. Visitors under 18 years are admitted free courtesy of The Helis Foundation. Museum Members are free at all times.
