Jindal, Louisiana Governor Race, New Orleans Appear Facing Strong Turnout

Although it is not scientific, it appears that turnout might be strong in Louisiana for a major vote for the Governor’s race and other statewide and local campaigns and in an close election where the favorite is Congressman Bobby Jindal in the Gubernatorial election based on polls during the year and recent tracking polls.

Bayoubuzz has contacted various individuals tracking key precincts across the state and turnout appears to be high, possibly resulting in a plus fifty-percent turnout for its first statewide election featuring a Governor’s Race since Katrina.

Expected to either win the primary upright without a runoff is Bobby Jindal, however, he has three competitors who believe they can force him into a second round.  Tracking polls from various camps have him close to the fifty percent plus one vote mark he would need to win without a runoff.

Some believe he is as low as 45% in the polls and as high as 55% after the only statewide debate held on Network television this past Thursday.

His opponents are two Democrats, Walter Boasso and Foster Campbell and independent, John Georges.

Jindal ran for Governor in 2003 and was defeated by Kathleen Blanco.  According to the Secretary of State’s office, there is no absolute way to determine the turnout level at this time.

Votes will be heavier in key areas where there is heavy competition in elections such as in New Orleans where there is a Councilman At Large election.

I bookmarked your site last week as I enjoy your posts very much. Hopefully will be posting there soon, but the truth be told...I don't spend that much time on the internet. Seems we'll have an interesting four years ahead of us. My sincere hope is that Jindal is really the Whiz Kid that Foster called him. But then again, I never considered Foster to be a good judge of character. We can only hope.

Yes, but you have to admit he had a case thats why the state supreme court said "while the court said they found evidence of fraud, it could not be tied to Miss Laundrieu..." thus they then refused to overturn the election, because they didn't want to cause the state undue expense of having another election.

You mean like Woody Jenkins did when Mary Landrieu won? I don't think so.

Now that Jinal has Won with 54% of the vote, what do you want to bet that the dems will be on here with their "Jindal stole the election" crap! I give them less than 10 posts before its said!

Just saw a report that said Jindal won. is it true. SOMEONE Please CONFIRM!

The election tonight, regardless of its outcome, will be the result of the failure of so many voters to exercise their rights to vote. They should not blame anyone but themselves.
