Bobby Jindal, a son of Indian immigrants have taken a step forward in showing the rest of the world that Louisiana is not a state made up of bigots and racists by electing Bobby Jindal as its new Governor.  In doing so, with such an overwhelming margin, Jindal will take over from Governor Kathleen Blanco next year in January.  Although his parents hail from India, he was born and raised in Baton Rouge and moved to Kenner, Louisiana.

Jindal lost last Gubernatorial election season in part due to race.  This year and after four years of campaigning along with his Congressional duties and strong local and national Republican support behind him, he took a populace message of reform to the people of Louisiana.  Now, his major obligation and opportunity as a Louisiana native with Indian American roots will be as he has said in this snippet of his speech that it is time to bring all facets of Louisiana together.

Here is segment of his video speech from Saturday night immediately after the other candidates declared their loss in a hotly contested election.   He thanks his parents who he said sought the “American Dream”

That would be "fewer" children, not "less" children.

Are you actually trying to say that with Bobby Jindal as Governor that less children will be born out of wedlock?

The election of Bobby Jindal is one of the best things to happen to black folks - and all folks - in Louisiana in a long time. What this state needs is honest and competent government, educated people, and safe cities. Bobby Jindal will help to deliver what scores of corrupt Democrats have failed to provide for the last 150 years. It was a mistake for black voters to not more strongly vote for Bobby Jindal. Orleans was grouped with the parishes of Red River, Bienville, St. Helena, and East Carroll as the only parishes to give less than 35% of their vote to Jindal. What all these parishes have in common is severely under-educated voters, and the lowest school test scores in the state. The price that Louisiana has paid for corrupt and inefficient government has been especially difficult for the poorest and least educated of Louisiana's citizens - who have consistently refused to give even 10% of their votes to Republicans even when they were the most qualified. If voters continue to listen to Jesse Jackson, the corrupt "ministers" and politicians in New Orleans, and other folks who keep telling them that all their problems are due to evil white folks - instead of listening to Bill Cosby and others - no help from government will ever be enough. If 70+% of black kids in Orleans continue to grow up without a father in the house, and without discipline, there is nothing government can do to fix this problem. (And white kids are starting to see the same problems: 30% without a father in the house, declining discipline: where whites are today is where black folks were 40 years ago - and they are catching up.)

I think this does very little to prove that we are not a racist state. In fact, the problems in Jena show that racism is indeed a problem that continues to this day. If ANY of the claims of voter suppression in the Black communities are true, then we will see racism is still alive and well in this state. And just so you know, you can be white, and like Jindal, and still be a racist. How? Because a racist does not have to hate all races, it just has to hate one. Electing Jindal did nothing to make this state better for its citizens who are Black. If you think it does, you are blind. Jindal's "outside agitators" comment and his vote to not give Washington D.C. a vote in Congress clearly proves this.

In this respect, even though he only got about 25% of the actual registered (not voting) voters, we believe your estimate to be true. We are tired of this nation seeing us as a racist state. Even we, who were against him, were accused of this atrocity. We have been preaching this issue of unity since we first appeared on the net as Rhetts Wife and the Velevet Glove Brigade. Enough said on this issue.
