Gubernatorial candidate, Walter Boasso on the back of his recent poll showing that his attacks on Bobby Jindal are having an impact, launched another one.Boasso said on Thursday in a written statement that “Congressman Bobby Jindal stood with President Bush in voting against an appropriations measure that will provide needed funds for the defense of Louisiana against future hurricanes and floods. The measure (HR 2461) provides funds in excess of those requested by the President to bolster efforts by the Army Corps of Engineers for flood protection efforts, hurricane preparedness as well as the HoumaNavigationCanal Dredging Account.
In standing with the President, Jindal voted against the majority of the Louisiana delegation including Republicans Charles Boustany and Richard Baker. The final vote on the measure was 312-112 which is enough to override a Presidential veto in the House.
This vote comes on the heels of Jindal's opposition to recent appropriations measures that will fund an increase in security at the state's ports, oil refineries and chemical plants as well his most recent vote against environmental protections off Louisiana's coastline.
State Senator Walter Boasso (D-Arabi), Democratic Candidate for Governor, called this most recent vote just another example of how Congressman Jindal has decided to put the whims of the President over the interests of Louisiana.
"In vote after vote with the President, Bobby Jindal is letting Louisiana down time and again," Boasso said. "How can we trust someone who is incapable of simply voting for our interests as a Congressman to fight for our interests as Governor?"
During his statewide tour, Bobby Jindal said that he will be releasing a detailed report on issues and his position on those issues. While the claims by Boasso might have merit, it is now time for Walter Boasso to begin to detail what his administration would look like should he be elected.Throughout his legislative career he has high marks as a Republican. Now that he is a Democrat, he needs to tell us what is his own vision of the future of the state, to provide details on the hard issues, to provide his voting record since he switched parties and also to point out the positions of his opposition—which is what he has been doing.
Walter Campbell has issued a statement concerning his campaign.Campbell who is running for Louisiana Governor said, “You probably noticed that Bobby Jindal made a tour of the state yesterday announcing the obvious - that he's a candidate for Governor. Of course, he's been running for almost five years now, spending millions he's raised from special interests on his various campaigns.
He may not have many accomplishments in government, but you can say he's been good at raking in the special-interest money.
Now he says that his first action as Governor will be to propose a strong ethics package for the Legislature to pass. He can join the crowd that includes me and at least two statewide groups that have made ethics reform a key priority for the state.
You also may have noticed also that he ducked questions about the ethics of his Republican colleague, Mr. Vitter.
Let me call your attention to the ethics reform statement I made earlier this month. In addition to those reform issues, I will propose to keep lobbyists off the floor of the state House and Senate, where they distract legislators from doing the people's business while they do the bidding of special interests. Moreover, I will limit the number of bills each legislator can introduce, forcing the Legislature to deal with only the most important issues.
"Democratic gubernatorial candidate Foster Campbell said Thursday he will pressure the Louisiana Legislature to pass significant ethics reform legislation in 2008 when he is elected governor.
Campbell, a Public Service Commissioner and long-time State Senator, said he supports the movement by the LA Ethics 1coalition and Blueprint Louisiana to require financial disclosure
by legislators and other officials.
"It's past time for Louisiana citizens to know how their elected officials earn their living and to make sure that their decisions are based on the welfare of the state, not on their own financial situation," Campbell said.
"We have a reputation as a state where people with power corrupt the system to pursue their own goals," he said. "Financial disclosure is a good and necessary step in getting rid of that reputation."
Campbell said that as governor he will propose legislation banning gifts to legislators, providing stronger protection to whistleblowers and increasing access to public records.
"Ethics reform is one of the key building blocks to making Louisiana a more attractive place for new businesses and industries," he said.
"Stronger ethics requirements, combined with eliminating the income tax, will move Louisiana forward toward being one of the most progressive states in the South," he said."
(Itallics by Bayoubuzz emphasizing the statements by the candidates)
Commomnsense say that even our primarily uneducated citizens,
Grandparents and parents (little to no real education) they knew how many all these yrs. in America that the Democratic Governor's office along with his cronies, brown baggrers, etc. and his 60 plus Demorats usually in both houses, some dug into the Governore's TICK, worse the usual kind....... that a state that has been blessed so many natural resources as well as additional entrepreneur's ane many great minds to make this one of the greatest states in this Union, all they did was stuff their pockets with YOUR cash. Just remember, it requred that all of these sychphants piled cash to EWE and in return, contacts were given to them to make them have even bigger and richer folks whle the hard working folks of Louisianan suffered mightly and now ttodays folks are beginning to suffer likewise.
IF the lessons of the past have taught us anything, is that history repeats itself. We are on the precipce with the immence flow of cash (unforunately due to the twin hurricanes), we have ONE MORE chance with all of this money and only ONCE again !!! Demo. Blanco and her choices of her inner circle(Johnny Andrersom and his Grambling shenanigains, etc.) Well, we will lose our chance to upright ourseves from all of this cash and then the ""Bell will Toll" and soon into the future we will once again be the laughing stock of the nation and the term "BABNA REPUBLIC" will return. As one who loves my state, no matter what happens, I'll never leave this great state and do my best to fight the good fight and work hard to bring this this state to the GREATNESS is slowly deserves. Don' go back in time with another Blanco type administartion, but look forward tour state's inate great and see honest andaring folks to lead this stste forward. I "STILL" have hope for all of us and the future of our children.

The Only Real Choice for Real Change:
Your report neglects to mention T. Lee Horne, III whose poll numbers outscore Boasso!
BOASSO! (Pun Intended as a Perfect Political Moniker)
He WAS Democrat, THEN Republican, NOW Democrat, AGAINST Bobby Jindal, who WAS Piyush, who WAS Hindu, THEN Catholic, NOW Born Again Christian, who WAS running for Congress, till 1 day AFTER election, NOW running for Governor.
These guys change labels like their wives change half minds.
Vitter's wife SAID she would cut off his PP if she found out he was "cheating"!
NOW she forgives & supports him?
Sure, a Gelding & won't be interrupting your Pedicure any more!
TRUTH : Republicans & Democrats are one in the same.
Republican State Party Chairman Roger VILLIERE says,
"The Republican Party feels like it is in the best interests (sic) of electing a Republican to have only one Republican candidate,"
"Since I have been chairman, my goal has been to get one strong Republican in every race."
Mr. Villiere, I want to personally thank you for this Tremendous Contribution toward Ensuring a Greater Quality of Life for your Statesmen & your Abounding Concern for the Human Condition.
You confirm my vision of the Governmental Mire in which you wallow.
THE ONLY REAL CHOICE for REAL CHANGE is ELECTING T. LEE HORNE, III LIBERTARIAN CANDIDATE for GOVERNOR

I would suppose that Campbell wants to eliminate the state income tax so that when the hogs line up to the trough and get their guts full at the common mans expense they won't have to pay anything for it.

Why don't you just nominate the CEO of the Shaw Group Inc.? Oh, too obvious, o.k. how about someone like Jo-Jo Dugas from viddyville? I know an old black man sitting on a front porch out in Lafayette that would probably make a pretty good governor. Only problem is, he doesn't have any money to campaign with.

Lead in the recovery? What recovery are you referring to? The recovery from mass stupidity? Recovery from the high price of gasoline? Recovery from being mesmerized by beads and doubloons in the same fashion the unknowing or uncaring Indians of Manhatten were? Recovery from incompetent engineers, or crooked business deals? Recovery from morons who would rather tax you under the table if they can't tax you straight up front? No way that is going to be fixed by a Guv-elect. You need something a little more than a spew piece elected by the few to run ramrod over the many. Sounds like lame state employee thinking to me.

This Sharon is paying attention to the governor's race in Louisiana. I hope that more people will vote and make their voices heard regardless of how they vote. I hope the voters will elect someone that will Lead in the recovery. There is a lot of work to do.

Adrieeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!! You forgot to mention the Tony G. I say just flip a coin to see who wins. Oh hell, here is the solution to everyones delemia. O.K. we know the current guv sucks. She was never supposed to do anything in the first place, that is why she was put into office. But Katrina jumped in and bit them in the arse. Facts are she wasn't elected by the majority. She was simply elected by the majority of the voters that turned out. O.K. Here is the plan. If 95% or more of the registered voters do not turn out for the next elections and put there vote in, this would be a clear indicator that the people are no longer interested in Government period. So, immediately governement should be placed on administrative leave without pay until the voters do turn out and decide who is going to lead the state in the Governors position. Understand this, there is around 4 million folks in Louisiana, which I guess means there are really only around 1.5 million registered voters? How many state/government/taxpayer supported employees do we have? I heard somewhere around 300,000. I don't know if that is true. But if it is, they represent 20% of the voting population. In fact good ole Guv Blanko just added another 1,000 to the payroll. So, the fact of the matter is, raising taxes is in these bottom feeders best interests. Taking bribes is in their best interests. And on and on and on. Then you have to contend with the spin of garbage websites like this bayou buzz that really doesn't search out meaningful information pertinent to Louisianaians, so their is another "feel the pulse of the masses" instigator. It is in the bottom feeders best interests to stack the deck in their favor as they keep you in slavery because of your insipid and apathetic manners. So, if 95% doesn't show, our best interests are not being voiced. I say shut the crooked bastards down. Maybe then decent and willing people that want to make good things happen can finally do what they are wanting to do.

Adrien, I think you're wrong about Boasso being a career politician, haven't you seen the garden hose and the box of Tide for crying out loud? Says in those ads that he started his own business cleaning shipping containers. Sounds fun. Georges is in the grocery business, never run for anything. Jindal of course has never had anything but government jobs working for Bush. There's a good mentor. Campbell not sure.

Let's not forget folks, there are two other candidates for this office, Mr. Georges - Republican and Mr. T. Lee Horne - Libertarian. Horne has 21%+ in a recent WDSU poll and that doesn't include the rural unplugged folks he's been campaigning to as he's traveled nearly every inch of this state. After you get tired of the three stooges knocking each other around a bit, (they are all 3 career politicians) check out the one man who will clean out the whole lot of them. You want reform? How about Lee Horne bringing you 100% sunshine on ALL government activities. 100% accountability. 100% of the time. I'd bet dimes to dollars any 'reform' offered by Campbell, Boasso, or Jindal will turn out to be anything but. And when Lee Horne takes office, you'll never have to worry about where your money is going, because YOU will be the one spending it - not government. No more income tax and no more nonsense. T. Lee Horne - your next governor - www.governor.ws

I can't seem to get any mention here so I'll inject some news for myself. The webmaster can delete it if he wishes, I'll speak in the third person, it's easier.
Tony G started the campaign seventeen months ago primarily using the internet and radio. Running as an Independent he was contacted by the Independent American Party. Last week Tony G joined the party and was named as Coordinator for Louisiana. The party is conservative with old time values. The values our grandparents believed in. Tony G just recently signed up with myspace.com. He was inivited to join by Sammy Kershaw supporters. This has proved to be an excellent tool. To date Tony G has invited 725 people to view his site and sign on as a friend. As of this morning there have been 351 people that have signed up. Many committing support as well as best wishes and promises to vote and tell all family and friends. Using this as a straw poll that puts it right under 50%. These people that have been invited to join and be friends come from all walks of life in Louisiana. As well as from all over the state. He also has a poll on his site listing all of the candidates. Here he touts 57% with Bobby Jindal in second with 36%. The value of the internet is unlimited. It it his belief that the personal touch of contacting people at their liesure and comfort in the end will far outweigh the nagging robo phone calls and absurd political commercials.
Tony G is an everyday person with good common sense. Just like the vast majority of the citizens in Louisiana. He feels you do not need to be a rocket scientist to see or feel the woes of our state. Nor do you have to be one to fix it. In state Government we have some good people, there's always a bad apple here and there, they just lack leadership. Tony G has been in a leadership position for the last twenty years. Adhereing to two key principles, responsibility and accountability, he has been a successful leader earning the respect of his peers.
Some of the others brag on what they have done in the past for the state. Look where we're at.
You and Tony G, that's what's right for Louisiana!

Walter is an o.k. guy. And Bobby probably is too. I'll tell you what a neat combination might probably be, Walter as Gov and Bobby as Lt. Gov, or vice-verses....... Fact of the matter is, it isn't the Governors position that is all so important, it is more like who is going to clean house with these inept civil servants that are really running things. Governors come and Governors go, but a State Job is occupied until retirement. Focus on the bottom feeders, and then work on the poster boys.
