Will the Louisiana Governor’s race be won straight up or will it be resolved after a runoff? While some believe that Bobby Jindal will win straight up like David Vitter did in the US Senate race, according to the Bobby Jindal campaign manager, Timmy Teepel, the election will not be decided in the first primary.
In a letter to his supporters, Teepell said “It is very likely that this race will go to a runoff. While we fully expect to come in first place in the primary, because we have 12 opponents, including three that will spend millions, it is likely that our victory will not come until the run-off election on November 17.
Teepell also said that “our opponents have spent 3 times more money on TV and Radio ads, and this trend will certainly continue. And the widely discredited LA Dem party is now pledging to run more smarmy attack ads as well.”
According to a recent poll cited by John Maginnis in his Fax Weekly, the Jindal support has softened a bit.
Maginnis stated “The 500-sample poll completed Sept. 4 by the Kitchens Group shows: Jindal, 51 percent; Walter Boasso, 11; Foster Campbell, 8; John Georges, 7; Undecided 20”.Jindal scored well in the African American community and it will be interesting to see if he receives the 18 percent from the recent poll or even exceeds it.
Teepell ended his letter with the following comments by bobby Jindal on Labor day:
"It's time for all of us to buckle our chin straps and prepare for the fight of our lives. Everyone who is ready to change the direction of our state, everyone who is ready to be rid of corrupt politicians, and everyone who is sick of incompetence from government needs to sign up for this campaign. The gang of political insiders who have been feeding at the government trough for many years will throw up a gauntlet of smear ads and mudslinging. But make no mistake, we will give them far more than they can handle. All the money in the world is not going to stop the people of Louisiana from demanding a fresh start. Make no mistake -- We will battle, We will fight, and We will prevail!"
Jindal responded recently to ads on television depicting the Democrats as clowns. The front runner was criticized four years ago for not fighting back the last week of the campaign.

Wow....I feel because of the election results of 4 years ago, Jindal is scared to be compared with the other candidates who may be more appealing on physical looks and also from the point of "more meaningful issues".
But perhaps, he remembers most that among 20 candidates last time, he had 36 per cent of the vote in the primary...while Blanco had 18 for second place.
Then a few weeks later, as voters looked at them more closely, Jindal only went up by 12 % although the State and National Republican parties spent millions only to lose...while Blanco picked up 34 per cent of the votes to win with 52 percent of the vote.
I predict that Boasso will squeak a victory,,,with only one percent of the vote in the run off.......because Jindal will not look good at all on a "one to one debate". And, I am convinced that Jindal will continur to avoid televised debates for as long as he can.......

Professor: Why should jindal sign the blueprint louisiana, he already stole the ideas from them an LA Ethics #1 and claimed them as his own. On the unemployment rate, that is an artificial statistic to use to measure. The unemployment rate can go down without a single person getting hired.

On another note, I'd like to praise Tony G., T. Lee Horne and John Georges for signing the Blueprint Louisiana contract. I am an ardent supporter of this organization, and believe that all candidates (Jindal included - Jindal ESPECIALLY) should sign on a support this initiative.

This is what I love about elections. The fact that it's one of the few times in life when there is a chance to be proven absolutely right. There is a winner and a loser. We'll see who wins in October! But, perhaps someone would like to use a benchmark other than the election results. Let's say unemployment - anyone want to take bets on what the unemployment rate in Louisiana will be after 3 years of a Jindal administration? The rate is 3.9% for July 2007. How about mean per capita income? It's $20,332 as of 2005. You pick the benchmark, we'll agree on a measuring point, and we'll see who gets proven right.

Jindal is a coward, refusing to debate the other gubernatorial candidates - unless he steps up and makes a stand on issues besides throwing everyone in jail, he will lose

They said this race was Jindals to lose, and all of his hiding is proving,he can lose.Bobby Jindal the people need a fighter, not someone making the same old false promises.

I tell you what, it feels so good that other people can see the truth.

Tee Dub: Your opening question regarding the compost pile sparked my interest so I did a little checking. Apparently that pile your're inquiring on is called the Homeschool Legal Defense fund where Timmy served has the congressional pointman. So there you have it. The first ever "homeschool" driven governor's race. You only talk to who you want to talk to. You only think what you're are told to think. You are arrogant and socially maladjusted. It does ring a bell.

From what compost pile did Timmy Teepell ooze out of? The "discredited" Democratic Party? (although I'm sure he probably said "Democrat" - what a pinhead). I have said here before that I think that the Democrats are a poor excuse for an opposition party, since they tend to let the GOP hacks roll all over them, but talk about people in glass houses who shouldn't be throwing stones! If anyone is discredited these days, it's the Republican Party - spending out the whazzoo like a drunken sailor on shore leave - scandal after scandal - and more closeted pervs than a party at the Neverland Ranch. But I am glad to see that more and more folks are thinking that we may end up with a runoff, in which case Jindal will finally have to come out of his shell and talk about the issues (enough with the platitudes, already!). I also liked Richard P.'s comparisons (on another thread) to Buddy Roemer. Voting for him was one of the last things I did before leaving the state for a decade back in eighties. Richard's right - the man did (and does) have a personality - unlike Jindal, who is a limp fish. Like I said before, at his best, he's like a chihuahua on amphetamines. At his worst, he's an arrogant bore. We certainly can do better, y'all.

And, to think, how the critics have howled about Blanco while all that their very own anointed one does is to hide and duck debates. Where will you be able to hide, "Bobby," if you become governor? "Bobby" is no better than anyone else, is not that special, and ought not pretend to be. I simply cannot envision him, for the life of me, should he win the election, serving in a very distinguished or effective administration. It would be too bad that as the rest of the nation is coming to discover the emptiness of the usual right-wing bromides and is turning away from the GOP for Louisiana to be embracing them instead.

Bobby Jindal would do more for his campaign if he showed us, he was willing to fight for the people, instead of hiding from his challengers.I agree with RhettsWife,Bobby has been eating from the same trough for years, and it is up to him to show us, he is different from the same old hogs we have.Running scared from debates has not been a very smart way to show us,he is not just another fat hog at the trough.

Piyush, dear, you say "The gang of political insiders who have been feeding at the government trough for many years will throw up a gauntlet of smear ads and mudslinging." Haven't you been feeding at the government trough for many years now since your mentor Foster first appointed you. My how you forget.

Is it me or does little Timmy Teepot sound a bit unhinged? I can't help but get the sense that the Jindal people have a touch of the fanaticism about them. There are a lot of grand "We"'s and this and that and the other. And the "must prevail!" complete with the frantic exclamation point didn't just sound desperate it sounded well, fanatical.
