Louisiana Foti Opinion To Issue In Morning Over Breaux Governor Run

According to the Attorney General’s Office, Charles Foti, a decision is expected to be issued around 11 a.m. today in the matter of John Breaux regarding whether the former U.S. Senator is a citizen of Louisiana and whether he would be able to run for Office of the Governor.  AG Foti is expected to issue his opinion with a written statement.  The issue has become dominant ever since Governor Blanco decided not to run for Governor this fall.

Of course, in a prior interview with Attorney General Foti, much depends upon the precise language that was asked his office.  During that Bayoubuzz interview, Foti outlined his options which include not taking any position if court proceedings were imminent.

In a separate Bayoubuzz interview with John Breaux, the former U.S. Senator said that he might seek a declaratory judgment from the Courts depending upon the Attorney General’s opinion.  Obvious, if Charles Foti should not take a position or if he does so and decides in favor or Breaux, it could seem likely that a declaratory judgment attempt would be exercised, unless Breaux feels certain he would prevail otherwise.

In my view, (and I have been wrong before), Attorney General Foti will punt on the issue since a lawsuit would be imminent either by John Breaux or anyone opposing his right to run for Governor.  The only issue is whether a declaratory judgment could be successfully lodged prior to qualifying which is months away.  Even if Breaux were to file and then win a  declaratory judgment this spring, you can expect his opponents to file a lawsuit after qualifying attempting to nullify the ruling.  Much would depend upon the actual language of the Order of the Judgment and even the jurisdiction and issues raised.

So, expect the fireworks very soon.  Bayoubuzz will keep you updated on all of the events.

Even though I think that the stupid Repukelicans should not have challeged Ayatollah Breaux's residency, Breaux is Democrap and is worse than Repukelicans in this matter. If Breaux TRULY AND SINCERELY wanted to come out his rich exile and rescue us, then he should not let this issue cloud the elections. If Ayaotallah Breaux sincerely wanted to help Louisiana, he would have stayed here. BUT, he went up to Lobbyland and got richer, and did not contribute here. Maybe he did help here motivated by MONEY thru LOBBYLAND. In my opinion he is not sincere and he should admit that he is causing an impediment not necessary. He should say that he is sincere and he will drop out so REAL ISSUES should be discussed and debated. But he is a political whore Ayatollah who arrogantly thinks that he needs to come out of exile and rescue us. Ayatollah Breaux please stay home up in Lobbyland and let real issues be the subject, instead of your candidacy be the biggest issue.

you may be correct....just remember quid pro quo...Breaux endorsed foti and campaigned for him in his first statewide race...foti owes him big time
