Have Fundraising Louisiana Governor Jindal Will Travel

Governor Bobby Jindal is getting more criticism from opposite quarters for his frequent fundraising appearances.  On Tuesday, the Louisiana State Republican Party issued the following statement after being notified that Governor Jindal was taking a two-day fundraising trip.  Here is that statement:

After delivering his widely panned speech opposing President Barack Obama’s economic recovery plan last Tuesday night, Gov. Bobby Jindal went on vacation to Disney World. But his “vacation” didn’t stop him from attending a Florida fundraiser for his campaign coffers – and now Gov. Jindal is leaving Louisiana again for two days to attend four separate campaign fundraisers in California.

Louisiana’s facing a $1.6 billion budget shortfall, but Gov. Jindal is more concerned with raising money for himself than trying to fix Louisiana’s economy,” says Chris Whittington, chairman of the Louisiana Democratic Party. “Gov. Jindal insults the people of Louisiana by neglecting his gubernatorial obligations and putting politics and campaign cash over the needs of our state.”

Gov. Jindal has recently jetted away for out-of-state fundraisers in Arkansas, North Carolina, Mississippi, Washington, D.C., Texas, Florida and Connecticut.

“Gov. Jindal needs to stop campaigning and start governing,” says Whittington. “The people of Louisiana deserve more than an absentee governor.”  (Itallics by Bayoubuzz for demarcation purposes only).

However, Whittington is not the only person to complain about Jindal’s fundraising trips.

“I think this trip sends the wrong message to the people of Louisiana”, said Jeff Crouere, political analyst, republican activist and columnist for Bayoubuzz.

“Governor Jindal has spent too much time out of state and not enough time on pressing state business”, said Crouere.  “These trips serve as dual purpose—they allow him to raise funds for re-election but also allows him to obtain contact with influential donors who can assist him should he decide to run for election for President in 2012.

Crouere even went further than simply complain about the Governor’s taking time away from state business.  “I think Governor Jindal should refund to the state pro-rata money for all those days he is out of sate on personal business.  I also think that state resources are being employed to help him with these fundraiser and those monies should also be reimbursed to the tax payers”, Crouere said.

“Governor Jindal has become the other extreme of Governor Mike Foster”, Crouere added.

Foster was widely criticized for not travelling to procure economic development opportunities.

I do not think travel necessarily means a governor is not doing their job. They could stay at the capitol and not do their job; they could travel a lot and still do their job. I do not feel - especially in this modern information age - that the governor has to be smelling the garlic on the breath of a legislator to be "doing their job."

It's fine if he travels when he needs to do for the state's sake. When does this governor do that, if ever? It's always to go speak at some party function or make some media appearance essentially promoting himself -- and it's hardly necessary to appear on Meet the Press of 60 Minutes to promote the state to businesspeople. If anything, it's time taken away from time that could be and SHOULD be spent either meeting with businesspeople or others for the state's benefits or potential benefits or dealing directly with solving the state's problems and issues. Maybe if he hadn't been away from the state so much he could have easily dealt with the legislature pay raise instead of letting it drag on and become a fiasco.

Funny how we have to be reminded of anything that Governor Foster ever did. He is the most forgetable governor Louisiana ever had... yet, Foster hand-plucked Mathematician, Piyush Jindal, to follow in his political footsteps... and, Hindu-Jindal named himself "Bobby" after "The Brady Bunch?" (LOL)... Bobby Jindal has been a "calculating" man for sometime - changing his religion to Christianity as a teenager.... how astute. .... Thank goodness the rest of the country saw him as the twerp he really is....(another one 'raised and bred' by the GOP Machine.... another national embarrassment as Republicans fall from grace.)

So it's a Goldilocks thing ... this governor travels too much ... this governor doesn't travel enough ... BUT THIS governor is JUST RIGHT.
