Louisiana Is A Big Loser In 2010 Census

Written by: Jeff Crouere

Buzz Right Back----E-Mail a Friend----Print Page

The Census Bureau usually counts every resident of the country, citizen and non-citizen, every ten years. This policy benefits states that have millions of illegal aliens while penalizing states like Louisiana that have a much smaller number of non-citizens.

For the sake of every law abiding citizen of America and to promote a sense of basic fairness, this policy needs to change. U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-LA) has proposed legislation that would mandate only citizens be counted in the census. If non-citizens are counted, states like Louisiana will lose not only federal dollars, but also federal representation. Louisiana, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio and other states in the Rust Belt are slated to lose at least one congressional seat if non-citizens are counted in the census, whereas Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia and Utah will gain at least one member of Congress.

In this country, no state should benefit from harboring illegal aliens. In fact, Louisiana should be rewarded, not punished, for having a smaller population of illegal aliens.

Senator Vitter’s proposal should be supported by every member of the Louisiana congressional delegation.. Sadly, his Senate colleague, U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu, called his measure a “political stunt.”

It is not a stunt to rectify outrageous Census Bureau policies. It is not a stunt to fight for full representation and funding for the State of Louisiana.

Vitter wants to add a question to the 2010 census inquiring about the citizenship of respondents. Unfortunately, Vitter can’t get enough support in the liberal, Democratic dominated U.S. Senate to bring this issue to the floor for a vote.

Senator Landrieu claims that adding one question to the census form would cost $1 billion and would be “an egregious abuse of taxpayer dollars.” So, she is upset about printing one more question, but what about the hundreds of billions spent on illegal aliens? What about the loss of dollars and representation that will harm the State of Louisiana if non-citizens are included in the census?

Landrieu seems more interested in bashing Vitter than in trying to bring this illegal alien problem under control and rectifying mistakes at the Census Bureau.

Even Vitter opponent Senate candidate and U.S. Congressman Charlie Melancon (D-Napoleonville) supported this common sense amendment. While Landrieu is concerned about printing costs, Melancon is concerned about the State of Louisiana possibly losing a congressional seat.

According to Melancon, “If it will save Louisiana from losing a seat in Congress, requiring next year’s census to ask a single question about U.S. citizenship makes sense.

It sure does make sense, what does not make sense is Senator Landrieu’s opposition.

Not so Fast Eddie, you must be a moron…. Joseph Cao, not born in the U.S., in fact, no citizenship restrictions apply to other US government officials, including those serving in the Senate, House of Representatives, Supreme Court and the president's cabinet…. Aspirants to the Oval Office would no longer have to be native-born Americans, if a bill discussed in Congress becomes law. A hearing to consider the "Natural Born Citizen Act" showed broad congressional support among Democratic and Republican lawmakers, who called current restrictions "outdated." "The decision to include the natural-born citizen requirement in our Constitution was largely driven by the concern over 200 years ago that a European monarch might be imported to rule the United States," said Orrin Hatch, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the legislation's main backer. "This restriction has become an anachronism that is decidedly un-American," the Utah Republican said. His bill seeks to amend the US Constitution, which currently requires that the president and vice president be native-born Americans who have resided on US soil for at least 14 years prior to taking office. For the most part, I suspect there are some rather subserviant readers on this buzzy buzz buzz bored… Eh and why not, we have an anchor baby for a Gov, and idiots for or state legistlature, and it just goes on and on and on for the appauling crap we are subjected to… Me, I am probably about to spend my last years in jail because I had a cas of bad breath, and a bad limp…. Yeah, thanx a lot, the new reality is looking grander all the time… Enjoy your new reality there folks, you jackasses worked real hard for it, and you deserve it….

Written By--read your own screed!! You are nothing more than a bitter fool who sees only what he wants to see, hears nothing but what he wants to hear, and understands neither. The very words transient and sojourner mean "temporary" rather than "permanent". Those here temporarily as workers (whether or not legally) should not and do not qualify for a so-called green card. And I did not say green card holders are citizens--only that as lawful permanent residents responsible for the same burdens of government as US citizens, they should be accorded all of the same legal rights EXCEPT the right to vote or to run for public office. And, finally, Articles I and II of the US Constitution require that no one not a citizen of the U.S. may be elected to the Presidency, Vice Presidency, Senate or House of Representatives. Moreover the same Article II requires one to have been an American citien at birth for eligibility to run for the Presidency (and by implication the Vice Presidency as well, because under the same Article II of the Constitution the Vice President must be one eligible for election to the Presidency), and lengthy periods of citizenship are also required by Article I before a person may qualify for election to the Congress---seven years for the House and nine years for the Senate.

Legal Definition of Green Card: United States permanent residents have an identification card known as the “Green Card.” Other names that the Green Card is known as include: immigrant visa, permanent visa, permanent resident card, permanent resident visa, Form I-151 or Form I-551. In the past the identification card was known as an alien registration receipt, which was previously its formal title. While permanent residents are not United States citizens, they are granted permission to reside and work in the United States on a permanent basis.

And another thing I am tired of is anchor babies... Boy do those things suck and they sure do have the potential to screw things up.... Guess how our country will be dismantled? From within... Simple as that... I think there should be a constitutional amendment that not only does the President of the U.S. have to have been born on U.S. soil, but also any Congressional official..... Did you hear about the baby born on the Malaysian airline at around 20,000 feet over an ocean somewhere? Well, what country is it a citizen of? The airlines are giving the kid and its mother free airline tickets for life. I wonder if it will be considered as the second coming, it coming down from where it came. (That's an inside joke there eddie for 2nd coming based cults) God Bless all those poor folks around the world, but right now the hamburger stand here in the U.S. needs to close down for awhile so we can give it a good and thorough cleaning....

Louisiana will lose a seat because of Katrina. Vitter and Crouere both know this. They are both granstanding and playing partisan politics with the census. Vitter's amendment is a waste of taxpayers money and doesn't deserve a vote.

This is in response to the comments of "Written By" in response to my below comments regarding the appropriateness of the census counting lawful, permanent residents, in addition to citizens. Written By is so embarrasd by his silly, sophomoric comments that he won't even identify himself to the extent of a non d'plume. Written By, you obviously write based on the prejudiced beliefs in your heart rather than from true knowledge gleaned from personal experience. First, transient sojourners cannot legally get "green cards", which incidentally have not been green for 30 years. The process for lawful permanent resident status (the legal term for a so-called green card holder) is much more riogorous than for a temporary visa, and the required documentation and time spent, as well as protracted personal contacts with the immigration authorities before issuance, are substantial and go a long way in insuring that those granted such status are as identified and accountable as U.S. citizens. And those with green cards. as a class are at least as compliant, when it comes to paying their US taxes, as the average American citizen. I know this based on over 40 years of serving that client base as well as many high earning U.S. citizens. And they, as a group, bring skills to the US economy, and promote economic growth moreso than the typical liberal voter. If the U.S. were to discriminate against the lawful permanent residents here from a civil rights and economic standpoint, then it would encourage retaliation by similar means in the countries of origin of the persons in question when dealing with U.S. expatriates living and working abroad. And the US can ill afford that in these already trying economic times. Rather, it is the illegal immigrant, and most often the offspring of such persons who, having been born here, not only cannot be deported (because they are thereby US citizens), but more frequently, once here and procreating, have had conferred in them a formidable defense against deportation. Where and how would their American citizen children be cared for if they are forced to leave. It is in the construction of our laws (including the Constitutional definition of just who is a "citizen") that we have simultaneously hung a nooze around our own necks and shot ourselves in the foot.

Nah, more obvious than that ODD, is there are folks that just don't want to work and can live off the guv....... But then again, the prospect for homeownership is bleak, or having nice things is bleak because someone is always trying to take it from them, so, how does ya fix that? Kids these days see absolutely no future, and they are not buying into the big lie that 'education' holds out in front of their noses like a carrot.... The problems with this nation are obvious, and immigration, health care, drugs, racism, homophobia, bible thumper haters, athetist haters, interracial marriages, are merely the smoke and mirror illusion to the underlying problems...... Right now, America is going through a re-programing phase.... It is sooooo sutble.... Even the crack heads are getting reprogrammed and they don't even know it.... Can't put everyone in jail ya know, or can they?????? Stay tuned for scenes of the next program...

I don’t know if any of you out there realize it or not, and God bless the folks over there in Myanmar, and Bangladesh, and Thailand and other areas that are going underwater during monsoons that have millions upon millions upon millions (as in a whole sh^tload) of people that are GOING TO HAVE TO RELOCATE SOONER OR LATER, OR SIMPLY DROWN pretty much expect the U.S. and Canada(who of course is the main problem of global warming, and therefore responsible for their plight) to take them in as refugees… Now I like the lil’ goomers, and they are some good people… But they don’t talk about going to China, or India (two other big ‘global warming’ participants if you swallow that whole theory put out by Alfonso Gorebaphobia) and the reason why is China or India not only don’t want them, but aren’t going to take them in…. And there is no mention of going to Africa (that has lots of land) or South America (again, not lacking in land area)….. Look, enough is enough, American no longer needs the ‘huddled masses, the poor, the hungry’, the frontier has been settled, and we have enough poor and hungry of our own while we feed the poor and the hungry of other nations….. It is time for the United States to re achieve parity at the negotiation table…. And I wish Mary Landryewwwwwww would sort of ride off into the sunset…. Good Gawd amighty we is screwed, or should I say Landri-eeeeeeeeuuuuuuwwwwedddd?

And why are the illegals here? Because there are American Citizens that want to beat the system with cheap labor and tax avoidance. And, we blame it all on the illegals. Those that hire them are just as responsible. It's like no Johns, no prostitutes, no drug users, no drug dealers.

Why???? They are temporary migrant workers that are passing through, why make them pay social security, why provide social security benefits to someone from another country…. Medicare? They should have their own insurance… If you drive to Mexico, guess what, unless you have an insurance policy, you ain’t getting your car across the border…. Federal and state income taxes??? Hell yeah, in fact, being as it is such a pain in the ass to deal with foreign problems both foreign and domestic in nature, tax the living sh^t out of them, they come here to make a paycheck, that’s fine, but all reward with no contribution is hardly an equitable position…. And the taxes we get from them can become part of the foreign aid packages we send to their country… Talk about double dipping sh^t heads….

Not at all, you are absolutely right. If the government wanted to enforce immigration laws, they would. It makes no sense to me to turn away Haitians and Cubans who attempt to enter illegally by boat but allow anyone to cross the southern border by foot. Anyone who enters the country should go through the temporary worker or immigration process. That is not "racism" rather it is "common sense" - something evidently not to be found in D.C.

Why limit the census to citizens only, and exclude green card holders (who are legal, lawful permanent residents in the US, and who pay social security, medicare, Federal and state income taxes. etc., and have played by the rules 100%)? And also to be counted should be others who are here on H-1, L-1 and certain other valid visas which permit them to be lawful US tax residents and to reside in the US for limited periods, even though they are not lawful PERMANENT residents like the green card holders. (Admittedly, such persons will not be here for 10 years such as lawful permanent residents, but while residing here lawfully, they should be possessed of all the same rights as citizens, save for the rights to vote and to run for political office. Being here legally and as residents they should receive and are equally entitled to the same government servics, given that they ae made equally responsible for the support of the government through their tax dollars. I agree, that the census should definitely exclude illegals from counting for the census, as it should exclude mere sojourners (even though in the US legally, but not here as lawful residents of any kind). Indeed, if ours were a government that wanted to enforce its immigration laws, then our US government could actually use the occasion of the decennial census to assist it in identifying those here illegally, and set in motion their deportation. But then I know I must sound like a dreamer

Sen. Durbin D-IL has reined supreme in oratory guile that has a strong foundations in Congress. Dick Durbin's speeches supposedly a defender of unemployed Americans, while behind the lines he makes Americans jobless. As with Sen.Harry Reid D-NV, Assistant majority leader Durbin, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has given there assurance to promote E-Verify, but also heavily approved a need for a path to citizenship or AMNESTY for the 20 to 30 million already squatting here. Although he commiserates the 125,000 who have recently lost their unemployment benefits, he disregards the fact that his immigration policies now in place has awarded 125,000 brand new work permits to foreign nationals this last month. Such is the capability for self-deception in Congress that I wonder if Sen. Durbin and his foreign-labor-in-shoring conspirators have any inkling of awareness in counter-production. Sen. Durbin, Sen. Harry Reid is just one of the dozen Members of Congress utterly accountable for seeing to it that ANOTHER 125,000 Americans each month are kept out of a work. Its this politicians uncouth insistence on providing cheap labor to pariah employers, that draws millions--no matter the danger--into America. Call your own Senators or Congressman 202-224-3121 and demand they make sure that the unemployment benefit extension keeps money out of the hands of illegal aliens. Sen. Sessions amendment uses E-Verify to authenticate a US workers right to 14 more weeks of these benefits. Then although California is a sanctuary state, not all cities believe in these refuge policies, such as San Diego. It seems that the federal contractors in Southernmost California city appreciate the new E-Verify ruling. The federal mandate requires all businesses with federal contracts of at least $100,000 and lasting longer than 120 days to use E-Verify and that all new hires must go through a verification procedure. San Diego industries receive a large portion of contracts, and it's proximity to the Mexican border makes it vulnerable to volumes of illegal workers. Currently more than 160,000 businesses are operating E-Verify with close to 13,000 of them in the State of California. In the recently passed Homeland Security spending bill, Congress re-authorized E-Verify for three more years. Now E-Verify has shown a powerful ally in removing foreign nationals in working establishments nationwide. It's success and easy access by employers has shown its immigration enforcement ability. NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE E-VERIFY PERMANENT , BEFORE CORRUPT LAWMAKERS SOMEHOW WEAKEN IT? ITS VERY LIKELY A NEW IMMIGRATION BILL WILL BE IN THE HANDS OF OUR POLITICIANS EARLY NEXT YEAR. WE ALREADY HAVE THE 1986 IMMIGRATION BILL, WHICH HAS BEEN INTENTIONALLY ENGINEERED FOR BUSINESSES & OPEN BORDER ZEALOTS. IF IT PASSES A THIRD OF THE INDIGENT WORLD, WILL SWARM OUR UNDERMANNED BORDERS. E-VERIFY WORKS! BY ATTRITION OR SELF-DEPORTATION ILLEGAL WORKERS AND FAMILIES WILL LEAVE IF NO JOBS ARE AVAILABLE. VIOLATIONS OF IMMIGRATION LAWS MUST CARRY STRICT PENALTIES, INCLUDING PRISON TERMS & HEAVY FINES. In regards 2010 census in 6 months? Those who entered without--THE PEOPLE'S--permission, have violated our laws, and should not, must not be allowed to be enumerated in the decennial census? Is Washington so sure that they will pass this 2nd Amnesty, when Ted Kennedy previous comprehensive immigration reform turned into fraudulent travesty?
