Louisiana Mary Landrieu Votes Against Judge, Wants WRDA Help

Written by: BayouBuzz Staff

Buzz Right Back----E-Mail a Friend----Print Page

On Wednesday, U.S. Senator made some bold moves, which might be political controversy as she ramps up her bid for re-election.  The first one was a difficult decision for her as the Republicans are enjoying a boost in the electorate.  The second, is less risky as the Louisiana delegation have all appealed to President Bush to not veto a bill that is important to Louisiana’s future.  Here are two separate statements from Sen. Mary Landrieu concerning a judicial appointment and the WRDR bill:

 Judge Leslie Southwick

United States Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., today released a statement after voting against cloture on the nomination of Judge Leslie Southwick to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals based in New Orleans, La.

Sen. Landrieu said:

“I have given deep consideration to Judge Leslie Southwick’s record and qualifications to hold a seat on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.  The Fifth Circuit is not just an ordinary court in our nation’s history.  It is a very special place that was home to Judge Minor Wisdom and the Great Four.  This circuit did more to restore equity and balance to our nation’s civil rights jurisprudence than any other court in America.

“I am not willing to quietly abandon this tradition. In many respects, the question is not about Judge Southwick as an individual nominee, but rather about the future of the Fifth Circuit.   The Fifth Circuit has the highest proportion of African Americans within its jurisdiction of any circuit in the country.  It also has one of the highest concentrations of people in poverty of any Federal Circuit.  Circumstances like the Jena Six fall within its jurisdiction.  This is a federal court that must absolutely have its doors wide open to Americans of every race, color and economic circumstance.

“More immediately, the people of the Gulf Coast find themselves in a special circumstance. We have been devastated by two hurricanes that were compounded by the failure of the Federal Government.  There are numerous federal cases arising from this catastrophe.  These suits are being brought by ordinary people who have lost everything.  It is vital that people without means, without clout, without resources have confidence that they will be able to attain justice in our federal courts.  When Senator Durbin asked Judge Southwick if he could think of a single case where he had ruled for an underprivileged group, he could not.  When the citizens of my state head to the Fifth Circuit with the cards already stacked against them, they need a judge who will deal a fair hand.

“So, I view this vote about the needs and future of this court.  Whatever Judge Southwick’s credentials, with hundreds of exemplary lawyers and judges to choose from, I do not think he meets the needs for this circuit.  Of those hundreds, there must surely have been a qualified candidate that would not divide the Senate and the citizens of the Gulf Coast, while also being acceptable to the President.

“This decision does not come easy to me.  I have been a supporter of a less partisan, more cordial approach to judicial confirmations in the Senate.  However, I do not believe that Judge Southwick is the right appointment for the Fifth Circuit. ”

WRDA

This past August, I wrote to you about President Bush's threat to veto the Water Resources Development Act, a bill that is very important to the nation, especially to Louisiana's economy and safety.

Since that time, the bill has been passed through both houses of Congress with wide majorities, but we still face one final barrier before this critical bill becomes law: the President's signature.

The bill was sent to the President's desk yesterday and he can act on it at any moment, so time is of the essence. That's why I need your help today.

Please sign my petition to President Bush today, urging him to reconsider his pledge to veto this vital legislation for Louisiana's future!

The Water Resources Development Act that the President is threatening to veto is critical to Louisiana's safety and economic future. It would greatly enhance flood protection, navigation, and levee protection in Louisiana. It represents the first comprehensive water resources bill in nearly seven years, a wait that is far too long for such vital protections.

Unfortunately, the White House Office of Management and Budget has attacked key projects in the bill as "unaffordable and unnecessary," a short-sighted argument that reminds one of the excuses used by politicians and bureaucrats for years to avoid making necessary investments in our coastal infrastructure.

This bill will provide for coastal restoration and stronger levee systems, protections that will significantly reduce the chance of catastrophic damages from future hurricanes. By latest estimates, this bill includes up to $7 billion in infrastructure funding for Louisiana. That investment is important for Louisiana and a wise use of federal funds; Hurricane Katrina, alone, caused over $81.2 billion in damages. Building the infrastructure we need to protect ourselves from future storms is a smart, life-saving investment.

Sign my petition to President Bush today, and show him that the American people want to make these needed investments in our flood control infrastructure now -- before it's too late!

The President's veto threat is a dagger aimed at the heart of Louisiana's future, but we can't let that slow us in our fight for Louisiana's future. With your help, we will try to convince the President to reconsider his veto threat before the upcoming veto deadline. And if he won't, then I will join with Louisiana's Congressional delegation in leading a bipartisan fight to overturn the veto.

Your help is needed now!

Nifong Democrats Its astonishing that even after Al Sharpton was exposed in race bait scams like the Tawana Brawley scam and the Nifong scam the dems/media still ply their race bait tactics with Sharpton like they are doing again with the “Jena Six.”. Its been all over the newspapers, CNN, AP, Headline News, about the alleged “race problem in Jena, La.” Career race baiter Al Sharpton, the democrat controlled media, and some other professional race baiters like Jesse Jackson protested in Jena along with thousands of agitators they bussed into Jena. When a Sharpton mob shows up with the media, they are there to inflame hate and bait blacks into voting democrat. The democrat controlled media glamorizes race baiter Sharpton so dems can use Sharpton later to bring in black votes for white democrats in key elections. The upcoming presidential election has got dems into nifong race baiting mode to maximize black votes. The dem controlled news media will report racism epidemics on cue for the 2008 election to get the black vote. To be consistent, protesters for the 6 black boys who beat up the white boy in Jena, must also protest to help OJ Simpson. Expect the media to lighten up on OJ, at least until after the upcoming presidential race. Its bizarre how much hatred the media has generated about the “Jena Six.” What actually happened in Jena has no resemblance to the media spin on it. Researching what actually happened at Jena shows the media simply created more race bait like the nifong media created with the Duke lacrosse players. As the presidential election gets closer, the democrat controlled media inflames hate and race baits more and more, in order to get democrats elected, like how democrat Nifong got elected. Next time the dems are looking for a new poster boy to represent the ideals of democrats, the obvious choice is democrat Mike Nifong who embodies democrat politics. Nifong is as well suited as Hillary to run for president as the dem nominee. Nifong’s plan for getting black votes by using the Duke players as race bait exemplifies a standard demonrat election strategy to get black votes for white democrats. Nifong is a typical Democrat who used race bait to get elected by using blacks and whites at the Democrat Plantation. Wish we could all escape the Democrat Plantation but you must want to escape to get free. The Duke lacrosse scandal began with demonrat race baiter Al Sharpton using a platform provided by the media to condemn the white lacrosse players for raping a black woman. The combination of Sharpton and the media with democrat politician Nifong exuded the sickening smell of race bait; think Tawana Brawley. Nifong and Sharpton are the essence of the Democrat party. Hillary is a nifong, Al Sharpton is a nifong, Ted Kennedy is a nifong; spread it around. The democrat party is the Nifong Party - Race Bait Party. The word democrat is interchangeable with nifong. And of course the media is controlled by nifong democrats. The nifong media is doing all they can to silence the Duke scam because it exposes the nifong party for what it is. But lets keep the light shining on this demonrat darkness. If the publicans let the dems get away with this they deserve to continue suffering the race baiting tactics of the dems. The media such as CBS, CNN, ABC, NBC, AP are all trying to tell us we are tired of hearing about Nifong, that Nifong has suffered enough; any lame excuse they can imagine to hush up or distort the Nifong story. The democrat controlled media wants to silence the Nifong news because it exposes what the nifong party is. Nifong embodies democrat tactics, but if it wasn’t for evil Al Sharpton with the democrat media circus, Nifong may never have gotten up courage enough to attempt the Duke scam. With the media, Sharpton, and the dems backing him, Nifong was emboldened. Now that Nifong got caught, the media wants it hushed up. The dems/nifongs want to talk about something else, anything to take public attention away from Nifong. Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and such non-news is used to focus attention away from the real news of how the demonrat party is the race bait party/nifong party; regardless of how trivial the non-news gets. It speaks volumes how the media is so eerily silent on the Juneteenth news; blacks dragging non blacks out of their cars and killing and/or beating them to celebrate Juneteenth in Minnesota, Texas, New York and who knows where else. The dem controlled media wants to hush it up because it doesn't promote the demonrat hate and race bait politics and stereotypes of discrimination by whites against blacks. Imagine the uproar in the media, on the news, the 24/7 coverage, if gangs of whites pulled black people out of their cars and beat them to death. Imagine even more media coverage than that if the Duke scam had been black men and a white girl falsely accusing the black men. The nifong media covers up and hushes up even the biggest news when it doesn’t fit the nifong political needs. Anytime we see the sick old media/democrat pattern of ranting about white racists we realize its just more nifong lies. If average non-democrat white people commit a fraction of the race bait scams against black people like Sharpton, the media, and Tawana Brawley committed against whites, or like Sharpton and the media played Crystal Mangum against the Duke players, those white people suffer greatly. Among other things, they are charged with hate crimes, false police reports, civil rights violations, and conspiracy to commit fraud. They are tormented by the media also. Yet career race baiter Sharpton along with his media accomplices have been getting away with it since at least as far back as the sleazy Tawana Brawley scam of the 1980s. For the media, dems, Sharpton, nifongs to be this desperate to find white racists just shows how hard it is for them to find whites actually guilty of real racial crimes. Since they couldn’t find any real white racists they tried to create some as in the cases of Tawana Brawley, Crystal Meth Mangum, and Nifong. If the publicans allow themselves to continue being victimized and painted as racists by such despicable creeps as Nifong, Sharpton, and their democrat media friends, then the pubs are missing some great opportunities to expose race baiting dems and media creeps like those behind the Duke scam. It might help slightly if the slandered lacrosse players sued Sharpton and his media accomplices, but only prominent pubs in high office have any real power to stop the hate and race bait schemes of the nifong democrats. This Lawyer Nifong who persecuted the Duke lacrosse players makes us wonder how many people who didn’t have high priced lawyers defending them have ended up in prison though innocent of the charges. The population was largely black, it looked like it would be a close election, so Nifong used the white Duke players as race bait to lure black voters into voting for him and got elected at the expense of the innocent white men. The reason Nifong charged the white men was to gain black votes in the election that was coming. Interesting how desperately the media tries to avoid reporting it. This was a tragic rush to race bait instead of a tragic rush to accuse or a rush to judgment. Look news media, lets see at least half the 5 years of non-stop coverage we get if its black men being falsely accused instead of white men. The Duke lacrosse scam is just one more example of fake racism from the dems and media. The dems and media desperately continue to fan the flames of hate and racism in order to get the black vote just as Nifong did. The dems and media have been race baiting like this since the days of John Kennedy in the 1960s. The dems show no sign of stopping their hate and race bait tactics of pitting blacks against whites as democrat Nifong did in order to gain the black vote. Racism shams and phony news reports of racism is a classic strategy for white democrats to get black votes, so expect more such news as the upcoming presidential race heats up. Instead of following the proven method of victimizing poor white men who couldn’t afford big money lawyers to defend themselves, Nifong made the mistake of attacking wealthy white men who had access to some of the best legal services. In this case the big money lawyers eventually got the race bait charges dropped. Nifong may or may not get away with his race bait democrat tactics. For every guilty creep who goes to prison there are about fifty to 100 who go free by one rule of thumb. How many other innocent people were fired or imprisoned or their lives were ruined by corrupt democrats plying their evil race bait politics like democrat Nifong did?

ANDYMAN! I lovethe idea first we get everyone to open their floodgates and we can wash out 50 YEARS of damage that we have done and I agree about the cyppress groves though you know, that there were once cypress groves where the 5th and 9th (Disaster Areas) wards are now I don't think we should rebuild there I think we should do what you suggest wonderful Idea! (And NO I am NOT being SARCASTIC) BRAVO!!

Give us back our frwsh water, and our French. We need to send more fresh water down the bayou's that take their water from the mighty Mississippi river. Sence the fifties we have (no blame) slowed or stopped the flow (levees, spillway, etc) into these water ways that used to take a percentage of the river's water. They used to be water ways and now some are stagnate ditches. Many scientist beleive this will reverse the damage done over the 50 plus years. The afected areas are being destroyed (partly) by salt water intrusion. With a lak of fresh water to push the salt water back out to sea, it stays in shore more and more every year. The grasses, plant, trees, soil, sea life, ecology that is ment for fresher water dies off then erosion destroys the land. The Cypress forest that protected us need to be replanted, but they need the fresh water to live and grow. A quick thought, you have a field full of crops if you stop watering them (with fresh water) the field will dry up and everything in it will die. This is part of what is happening to lower Terrebone parish. Open the flow of fresh to push the salt back offshore, and then rebuild and replant. Rocks are not the answer, if you've gone out the many channels to go offshore you know what I mean "Tiger Pass". We should be able to do here what they're doing in Dubai. As for French, what I mean by this is teach the Cajun kids to be and speak Cajun French. We need more French offered in our schools. We need to as a state teach our children more about being Cajun. We only exist here in South La. This is our culture and as far as I'm concerned when you fill out a form and it asks what race we need to check other and write in Cajun.

Thank you mehere! I don't deserve any credit, it just angers me that people REFUSE to hear and act on the TRUTH! Instead people take on a partisan position that claims that their party can't be wrong, so they try to push thir version of the truth. Hey no doubt the administration had screwed up aspects of the recovery, but the piling on became a JOKE because soon you actually had people BELIEVING that the Bush administration Blew up the levees to hurt Black folks! NOW we know WHY they do this, Because we all know if you tell a lie long enough it will eventually become someones truth! I was Proud of President Clinton (I KNOW TW, Dan. and Mrs George, JUST FAINTED) for saying to the 9/11 conspirarcy KOOKS at a campaign event for his wife "An inside job. an inside Job SHAME ON YOU! SHAME ON YOU" you have to stand up to those that use untruths as a replacement for the real TRUTH! YOu know you say that President Bush disrespected "Crazy" Kathleen Blanco, but remember OUR Governor REFUSED TO go to a Bush speech in NO, then when President Bush drove by the Governors mansion she wouldn't even stand on the porch and wave, She DISREPECTED OUR PRESIDENT! (I KNOW that some of you don't like him, BUT he is OUR PRESIDENT) none the less! she hurt all of us with STUPID PARTISAN POLITICS! And thats why we are in the situation were in!

Old Jarhead and Rhett's wife, you two always write such thought provoking posts. I'm sure I speak for others too. To stand back and look at your posts, Old Jarhead, you have a lot of passion and knowledge regarding all that has gone on and you are representative of the pain that our city feels, even 2 years after the tragedy. It is like a long ongoing death, funeral, cancer that is prolonged by other's not seeing our pain, by not tending to us properly and by going on with businss as usual as our pain is ignored. Keep speaking out with the facts and maybe one day, someone will hear you and the rest of us in pain still 2 years later. I only hope that California's tragedy will translate to us, belatedly, seeing some semblance of respect but I doubt it after seeing how Bush was not respectful toward Blanco who is still at the helm. Seems we are at the bottom of the totem pole, always looking up wondering why we're down here. Maybe, just maybe, it's because our leaders forget about us too by continuing with the ethics snafus instead of working full time for their constituents, us.

Apparently Senator Snellings needed some publicity. We read "Landrieu Wants Answers On FEMA's Fake Reporters" http://www.wdsu.com/news/14434452/detail.html We want answers on that and answers from you as to your failure to get help for all of the people of this state for the disasters that hit us two years ago. Talk is not enough. Show us the money that is due to hard working, tax paying citizens. Mrs. Snellings get ready for one heck of a race come next year. The winner could be another Demorcrat, dear.

Thank you Miss Melanie I love you too!
Written by Ole Jarhead on 10/27/2007

Miss Judith, pass me YOUR LIBERAL READING GLASSES! Because #1 I used no Vulgarities and #2 I DID NOT CHANGE MY STORY! I NEVER said they wouldn't let them out of the Superdome! My PREVIOUS converstion HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SUPERDOME! So PLEASE Miss Judith DON"T PUT WORDS IN MY MOUTH, don't accuse me of saying something I never said! I said, and I stick with And if you do a little thing CALLED RESEARCH.. you will find that I am right Though you will continue to deny the truth. A National guard officer would have to get that kind of authorization from WHO? A comander in the field cannot make that kind of decision unless they have the AUTHORIZATION of at LEAST the Mayor of the city BUT most CERTAINLY an authorization from the Governor, so I must ask why don't you remember his very next sentence, "that comes from the Governor. Do you remember the General that said the press and his critics were "stuck on stupid?" Take that however you like. NOW lets talk about bus evacuation, IT COULD HAVE BEEN done if they has started earlier they knew that a major storm was comming 6 DAYS before it hit. They were hoping that they wouldn't get hit! They WERE HOPING (BEING CHEAP) that no evacuation would be neccessary but when the storm turned the public was essentialy screwed! SO knowing the storm was comming they could have filled every bus in NO taken to places like Winn Parish But NO we were bypassed and why on GODS GREEN EARTH was Eddie "I HATE WHITEY" Jordan going to prosecute the young man that took a city of N.O bus and took his family and friends to Houston? (BTW they packed ALOT of people on that bus)Thank GOD the people of N.O. and C.Ray "LET EM DROWN" Nagin had the common sense to convinve him not to! You said "My brother and his family left New Orleans three days after the storm, in private transport, and had no trouble getting out." ALOT MORE could have been out! It's what 281 miles or 4.68 hours at 60 miles an hour to Shreveport and 204 Miles to where I live 3.4 hours, so in either amount of time the 100+ city buses and the 250 School buses carrying 50 people each could in just one run north take 17,500 people out of the city! that would be a 9 hour round trip to Shreveport and a 7 hr round trip to where I live. SEVENTEEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED!! And if those buses made TWO TRIPS JUST TWO we could have gotten 35,000 citizens out of NO so don't tell me "IT COULDN"T BE DONE because I just proved you it could have! You make this claim "... the idea was for evacuees to ride out the storm in the Superdome and then go home." If you check you will find that the Superdome WAS NOT A PLANNED SHELTER FOR THOUSANDS it was called a last resort shelter face it Judith THERE WAS NO PLAN! The LEADERSHIP didn't have a plan, they were winging it! Many of the folks that stayed behind had no vechile I remember hearing one lady she told the press Car something to the tune of I don't need a car we got a great bus system! many of the older folks ahas ZERO TRANSPORTATION, some stayed just because they wanted to I remember 100's said there was NO WAY they were leaving! There is the LIBERAL WHINE AGAIN The feds should have come in and fed them, HEY where is this supposed plan if you had a plan you would beable to have at leat a weeks food/water for your population ESPECIALLy if our in a coastal city that has the possibliity of getting hit by hurricanes. You SHOULD NOT take the responsibily away from Nagin or Blanco! "local contingencies overwelmed MY FAT AUNT SALLY STEVENS! what do OUR STATE TAXS PAY FOR? Ohh yeah Bribes and the GOV's SHOPPING TRIPS!
Written by Ole Jarhead on 10/26/2007

OleJarhead, dear, some may be critical of you as they are of us. However, one thing has to be said and that you lay it on the line and take no bull. Keep going and we will have to turn on the airconditioning even in this cooler weather. It is time that people not be afraid to speak their mind and to speak it bluntly. We are determined to do that now and in the future as long as we are able to do it.
Written by RhettsWife on 10/25/2007

Ole Jarhead, I will ignore your vulgarities and say I’m truly sorry to hear of your troubles. With respect to your claims about Nagin and Blanco, you changed your previous claims which I corrected – namely that Blanco and Nagin told the National Guard and the Red Cross not to enter New Orleans. That never happened. As for your new claim that they would not allow people to leave the Superdome – I remember clearly that a National Guard spokesman said the NG did not want to let people back out onto the streets, because law and order had broken down completely. Maybe Nagin and Blanco could have insisted that people be allowed to leave (on foot – how far could they get?), but they were also under enormous pressure to secure the city. My brother and his family left New Orleans three days after the storm, in private transport, and had no trouble getting out. To very briefly deal with the bussing issue again – the idea was for evacuees to ride out the storm in the Superdome and then go home. No one expected the city to be under water, let alone for weeks. I am not saying that Nagin and Blanco are without blame. Specifically, the mandatory evacuation order should have come a day earlier – although that would not have changed the situation for the tens of thousands of people who couldn’t afford to leave the city – and there should have been food, water and other supplies waiting for evacuees at the Superdome. But after the storm, when it became clear that almost the whole city was underwater and had no running water, electricity or sanitation – the feds should have quickly gotten in there to see how they could help. In the case of Katrina, I think any local contingency plan would have been quickly overwhelmed. And by the way, disaster aid is not a hand out but is funded by us through our taxes. It’s what people in civilized countries the world over expect and get from their governments – and they have too much class to kick each other for needing or getting it.

OHH and BTW Judge Southwick WAS CONFIRMED TO THAT SEAT ON the 5TH COURT OF APPEALS! To bad for "Katrina" Mary and to all you LIBERALS that support her!
Written by Ole Jarhead on 10/25/2007

This is just another EXCUSE for the totally AWFUL JOB PERFORMANCE of the LIBERALS IN POWER!
Written by Ole Jarhead on 10/25/2007

Miss Judith I do have some time on my hands. I am a wounded veteran of the UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS, and I am dying. PLEASE DON'T ASSUME that I am one of your LAZY LIBERAL WELFARE COLLECTING BUMS! As to me being with the FAIRIES, THEY BOTH did IN FACT ADMIT to it Nagin told REPORTERS that he DID ASK THE NG NOT to let anyone out (On Blancos AUTHORITY! Blanco in an interview ADMITTED that it was the biggest mistake she made in the Disaster!(check the News archives you will see your WRONG!)Yes they did plead but because did not offically request the N.G. the Feds could not just send them (Thats part of the Law guaranteeing states rights.)Now about Buses, NAGIN LET THOSE BUSES fill with water! his comment before the storm as and I quote "Everyone needs to come down here with all the Greyhound and Trailways buses and help us we ain't using our school buses" there were HUNDREDS of both city and School Buses that could have been used (This Nagin himself ADMITTED was HIS Biggest Mistake of the disaster)Your next tidbit was a GEM where would we have sent them? I DON'T KNOW BUT ANYWHERE AWAY FROM THE HURRICANE WOULD HAVE BEEN GOOD! Why do you LIBERALS ASSUME THAT IT WAS THE FEDS RESPONSIBILITY TO FEED THESE PEOPLE? LOOK if NO had a plan (WHICH THEY DIDN'T) they could have provided for its OWN instead and in a TYPICALLY LIBERAL response they ASSUMED that the FEDS would take care of them WHY? because LIBERALS like you and Mrs George and Dan, THINK that its the feds RESPONSIBILITY, when your PEOPLE don't do the job they are elected to do!ACTUALLY the ones that were flown/ bussed were bussed BECAUSE you LIBERALS had no plan! (and you didn't have a recovery plan for NO untill May of this year nearly TWO YEARS AFTER Katrina.) They could have been bussed if YOUR LIBERAL HEROS Nagin and Blanco had called for mandatory Evacuation (WHICH THEY DIDN'T) Taking them to Baton Rouge, Alexandria or hey how about the evac center we set up here in Winn Parish? NO C. Ray "LET EM DROWN" Nagin sat in that 5 star HOTEL and DID NOTHING! your FINAL (THANK GOD) Whine was typical for you LIBS "The truth is that this disaster was on a scale and severity that overwhelmed local and state agencies." EXCUSES are like anal orifices Ma'am we all have them and they ALL STINK! THIS
Written by Ole Jarhead on 10/25/2007

Ole Jarhead, your runaway diatribe is not so much a translation as a transcendental experience – you’re away with the fairies. As for your endless liberal bashing, you obviously have loads of time on your hands, and everyone needs a hobby. But I think a couple of your persistent delusions about the local and federal response to Katrina need to be challenged. Firstly, neither Nagin nor Blanco told the National Guard or the Red Cross not to go into New Orleans. That’s just crazy talk, even by your standards. Both officials were pleading for the National Guard and emergency supplies to be sent in from the outset. In fact, the National Guard was the first thing Blanco asked for, before the storm. And it was the National Guard who stupidly barred the Red Cross from New Orleans when they tried to get food and bottled water to the people in the Superdome, on the asinine premise that the people wouldn’t want to leave the filth and carnage behind otherwise. Secondly, you insist that all the people who couldn’t evacuate should have been bussed somewhere. Where would you have bussed them? To the Superdome, where most survivors ended up anyway, and where the feds left them stranded for days without the basic necessities of life? Would you have bussed them out of the city? Well, tens of thousands of people cannot be transported anywhere using a few hundred school buses and besides, we had no place to take them in the state – we ended up bussing them to evacuation centers in other states, remember? The truth is that this disaster was on a scale and severity that overwhelmed local and state agencies.

She will never switch parties because when she seeks reelection next year, she will have to run in a closed primary for the GOP nomination. And whether she's a snelling or landrieu, she'll lose. Hopefully the people of this state will wake up in 2008 like they did on Oct. 20, 2007.

Bill, dear, what we are saying is that when desperation sets in Mrs. Snellings may switch parties to attempt to fool people. Of course, she has been fooling people all along as far as we are concerned.

Ole Jarhead, dear, we have the vapors after reading that splendid article of yours. Now let's let Mrs. Snellings know our feelings when it comes time for the vote in 2008. She should understand that at least. However, who can tell? She may switch parties by then.

So here is "Katrina" Mary Landrieu PLAYING POLITICS! Let me if I may, translate what she is saying for those of us who don't understand "LIBERAL" language first there is this "“I have given deep consideration to Judge Leslie Southwick’s record and qualifications to hold a seat on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals." TRANSLATION: He isn't a dem and is Most certainly Not a LIBERAL! "The Fifth Circuit is not just an ordinary court in our nation’s history. It is a very special place that was home to Judge Minor Wisdom and the Great Four." TRANSLATION: The Great four as she calls them were all LIBERAL dems and thats what they want on the 5th, More LIBERAL dems not one more NON LIBERAL! "This circuit did more to restore equity and balance to our nation’s civil rights jurisprudence than any other court in America.TRANSLATION: We want the 5th to be the deliverer of SPECIAL PRIVILEGES to EVERYONE WE LIBERALS feel have been discrimated against, from NOW till the end of time! We think they should get/ deserve those SPECIAL PRIVILEDGES" "....the question is not about Judge Southwick as an individual nominee, but rather about the future of the Fifth Circuit." TRANSLATION: Its not about the judge but about his Politics! he is really fully qualified but I WON'T vote for him because he does not have a (d) next to his name! the dems in the senate are PLAYING POLITICS with the court of Appeals because they don't like their POLITICS it had NOTHING TO DO with how QUALIFIED THEY ARE! "The Fifth Circuit has the highest proportion of African Americans within its jurisdiction of any circuit in the country." TRANSLATION: These are the ones we want to give those SPECIAL PRIVLEGES TO because if we do, we will secure their votes for us because we can say "SEE WHAT WE GAVE YOU" then we will pat the black voters on the head and tell them to vote for US (dems) "It also has one of the highest concentrations of people in poverty of any Federal Circuit." TRANSLATION: DON"T LOOK at the men and women behind the curtain that caused much of this POVERTY to happen (dems)This is an sideways admitance that the dem leadership in this state has DONE NOTHING to eliviate the problem of Poverty in our state! "Circumstances like the Jena Six fall within its jurisdiction. This is a federal court that must absolutely have its doors wide open to Americans of every race, color and economic circumstance." TRANSLATION: And the only ones who can do that are LIBERALS (doesn't matter if they aren't qualified to serve, they just have to be LIBERAL and agree with us! Here again we see a LIBERAL trying to stack a court to make sure the people they want votes from will get the result they want! “More immediately, the people of the Gulf Coast find themselves in a special circumstance. We have been devastated by two hurricanes that were compounded by the failure of the Federal Government." TRANSLATION: Here is where "Katrina" Mary EARNS her nickname! WAHHH we got hit by two hurricanes... WAHHH, The federal Government fails us WAHHHH AGAIN! Let me whine and distract you from what really happened here! lets NOT concentrate on the failures of the city of N.O. or of the State Government, Let me adress THREE major FAILURES that we as a state are RESPONSIBLE for. ONE, The city of NO demanded that many of the canals be dredged DEEPER so they could take on Bigger traffic the dredging they had done went below the pilings and contributed to their collaspse. Two, there were school buses available to pick up people that were unable to get out. Mayor C.Ray "Let em Drown Nagin" refused to run these buses, NOW you and I both know that those buses ran EVERY ELECTION to take voters ESPECIALLY in the 5th and 9th Wards to the polls because they didn't have a ride. Nagin knew this, but chose instead to let the people in the city he ran DROWN like rats, while we stayed in a 5 star hotel way above any possible flooding. Thus he gets the nickname of C. Ray "Let em drown" Nagin! He is the one responsible for this and in my opinion responsible for every death caused by they flooding! THIRD "Crazy" Kathleen Blanco, (along with C. Ray "Let em drown" Nagin) told both the National Guard and the Red Cross NOT to go into NO because they wanted to force more people out of the city I remember watchin Nagin act like he as SOOO Proud of that decision! I won't even go in to Blanco NOT KNOWING she had to ask for the National guard to be Federalized! "It is vital that people without means, without clout, without resources have confidence that they will be able to attain justice in our federal courts. TRANSLATION: we want the court of appeals to overturn ALL of the suits brought against the fed in local Courts because as long as they are brought against the feds (especially the fellatious ones) We won't be looked at as the cause even though we really were the cause" "When Senator Durbin asked Judge Southwick if he could think of a single case where he had ruled for an underprivileged group, he could not. TRANSLATION: HE couldn't show a LIBERAL record of giving "SPECIAL PRIVEGES", SHE REJECTED HIM OUTRGHT! What happened to JUSTICE being BLIND? what happened to the IDEA of a COLOR BLIND Judicary? so he couldn't give an example of helping a "underprivileged group" did you ever stop to think that he was dealing with the LAW and not the status of any ONE particular group? If he had considered Race or Privilege, I would say that then and ONLY THEN would be be UNQUALIFIED! "When the citizens of my state head to the Fifth Circuit with the cards already stacked against them, they need a judge who will deal a fair hand." TRANSLATION: since we can't fix it because we don't have the presidency, will will hold up ever nomination untill we get a dem in the white house! “So, I view this vote about the needs and future of this court. TRANSLATION: LIBERAL GOOD CONSERVATIVE BAD "Whatever Judge Southwick’s credentials, TRANSLATION: I don't know what they are but my LIBERAL Bosses such as DICK Durbin and Harry Reid told me he is BAD with hundreds of exemplary lawyers and judges to choose from, I do not think he meets the needs for this circuit. TRANSLATION: HES NOT A LIBERAL LIKE US. Of those hundreds, there must surely have been a qualified candidate that would not divide the Senate and the citizens of the Gulf Coast, while also being acceptable to the President.TRANSLATION: HEY Bush Nominate a LIBERAL or you don't get what you want. “This decision does not come easy to me." TRANSLATION: Actually it does because I do what I am told by my MOST LIBERAL SOCIALIST BOSSES in the Senate (Durbin Reid and Clinton)tell me to do! "I have been a supporter of a less partisan, more cordial approach to judicial confirmations in the Senate. TRANSLATION: As long as the President does what we tell him. "However, I do not believe that Judge Southwick is the right appointment for the Fifth Circuit. ” TRANSLATION: ONLY BECAUSE HE IS NOT A LIBERAL if he was I would VOTE for him in a heartbeat! REMEMBER my FELLOW LOUISIANANS that this is the SAME Senator that "I can threatened to punch the President in the nose" yet still demands Full cooperation (Coersion) from the Feds. Sorry this is long But its something that NEEDED to be said!

The vote by Senator Snellings is a vote based on her perception of bias and racism. It is time that Senator Snellings and others, put aside the issue of race, the issue of sex, etc. and judge a person on their merits and not what some perceive as a flaw. Senator Snellings is playing the same old game the Landrieus have from the beginning. Bring up the spector of racism in order to get the vote. Remember we were around with Judge Wisdom was on the bench. We supported decisions against segregation and racism. However, we will not let these issues continue to disrupt and be used to discriminate against others. Senator Snellings, the campaign starts now. Judge people on their merits and their actions and not on your perceptions. Tally ho, dears, tally ho. Onward we march.
