On Thursday night January 17 it is time for more New Orleans and Louisiana "punch".  Join the fun for another special edition of "Politics with a Punch" at the Cricket Club, 2040 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans at the new location for the event. Many of you will remember it as the Eiffel Tower Restaurant or the Red Room, so you know it is an exquisite facility, one of the most unique in New Orleans.

For this show, we are also opening the doors early, at 6 p.m. for a Punch Happy Hour to celebrate the New Year and Mardi Gras. This social time is a great way to network, explore business opportunities and possibly find your next client, customer or partner.

As usual, the event will begin at 8 p.m. Post event, the bar will remain open and light snacks will be available for Punch patrons.

As usual, we are pleased to have an outstanding panel of celebrities:

Becky Allen,  Legendary Actress and Entertainer
Ian Hoch, Comedian, N.O. Underground Improv Theater
Pres Kabacoff, CEO of HRI Properties, Real Estate Developer
Reggie Reginelli, Tulane Sports Hall of Fame, Entrepreneur
Dave Treen, Former Governor of LA, Candidate for Congress
Vince Vance, Rock Star, Band Leader, and Ultimate Showman
Lee Zurik, WWL-TV News Anchor and Reporter

Here are some of the many topics we will discuss:

Jindal mania grips Louisiana while we say goodbye to the Queen Bee; Hillary cries and wins, while Obama cries foul and the GOP cries about their field of candidates; Crime march anniversary is observed as New Orleans gains title of Murder Capital once again; City Council votes to demolish public housing despite demonstrations, pepper spray, threats, fights and out of town white kids protesting.

LSU wins BCS Championship while the Saints revert to familiar playbook and post another losing season; Endymion returns to Mid-City roots while Bacchus takes heat for choosing the Hulk as King; Disgraced former Judge C. Hunter King avoids jail and gets sweetheart deal from Judge who claims racist plot and compares him to Bill Clinton; Nagin addresses complaints and says that he really lives in New Orleans and is “hands on” Oh really! Landrieu is in the hot seat for alleged quid pro quo; Hornets sign deal and put the pressure on the fans; Oliver Thomas avoids the label of “rat” but can’t avoid his new role as prisoner!

With so much serious discussion, it is helpful once a month to be able to poke fun at some of the hilarious, insane and unpredictable events which occur in this state.

On Thursday night Dave Treen will tell us why he wants to go back to Congress; Ian Hoch will entertain us with his humorous political analysis; Lee Zurik will report on the major news events of the day; Pres Kabacoff will take us behind the curtain and tell us about what is really going on in New Orleans; Becky Allen will enlighten us with her zany, one of a kind observations; Vince Vance not only has a unique hairstyle, but also a unique insight as traveling Ambassador for New Orleans; and entrepreneur Reggie Reginelli will shed light on the real estate market and economy of New Orleans.

In between, we’ll address the controversies and the crazy antics of our local leaders and have plenty of fun in the process.

Since 2002, along with Steve Sabludowsky of Bayoubuzz.com, I have been a part of one political tradition that has grown into quite a success story. Of course I’m referring to Politics with a Punch, which is held monthly on stage before a live audience. It is our own local version of “Politically Incorrect.” It is a fast-paced, free-wheeling, no-holds barred discussion of what is happening in our city, state and nation.

In our six years of existence, we have featured some of the top political, business, comedic, media and entertainment talent in Louisiana.  I am honored to host Politics with a Punch, an event which has attracted sell-out crowds for the past two years.

We are expecting another exceptional performance this Thursday night. Special note, the doors open at 6 p.m. for Holiday Happy Hour & networking; the event begins at 8 p.m.

The event features a legendary stage performer; an award winning news reporter and anchor; a rising star in the world of comedy; a well respected former Governor and congressional aspirant; a Tulane hero and successful businessman; a rock star and showman with no equal; and a visionary urban planner and developer who has left his mark on New Orleans. It doesn’t get much better than this panel!

Tickets are usually $15.00 per person/$25.00 per couple; however, I am pleased to offer a limited number of VIP discount tickets at the price of $10.00 per person.

In addition, I need to know the number of people in your party as the tickets will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

Thanks again for your support of Politics with a Punch. Without you and other friends, we could not have such successful events each and every month.

Hope to see you Thursday night!
