Louisiana News: GOP Deaths, New Orleans Population, Obama Energy, Cameron Evacuation

Buzz Right Back----E-Mail a Friend----Print Page

It is a sad but frightening day for Louisiana.  Two major Republican leaders have died.  Below is a message from LAGOP Chairman, Roger Villere.

Then, all eyes are on the tropical storm Eduardo which has caused lower Cameron to be asked to evacuate.  Cameron was hit hard by Hurricane Rita.  On the other end of the state, New Orleans might have less to crow about as according to reports, the city and its environs which had made stong comebacks in the first years post-Katrina might be seeing a slow down.

New Orleans is hoping that some drivers will slow down or else.  More traffic cameras are going up throughout the city in key locations.

With oil prices decreasing a bit over past few weeks, it is not fast enough as the bills are out for homeowners and the economy has cooled.  According to his campaign, Barack Obama is now proposing tapping the nation's strategic oil reserve.  In the meantime, Senator Lindsey Graham is asking Congress to reconvene as they voted to take their “working vacation” to listen to the voters and, of course, to do some campaigning.

Messeage from GOP Chairman, Roger Villere:

Today, Republican Party of Louisiana Chairman Roger F. Villere, Jr. issued the following statement on the passing of Margaret Tarpley and Elmer Litchfield:

“I regret to inform you of the passing of two of our Republican champions and dear friends, Margaret Tarpley, beloved wife of Ed Tarpley, and Elmer Litchfield, former sheriff of East Baton Rouge Parish.  Our hearts are broken and I ask that you keep the Litchfield and Tarpley families in your prayers as they face the difficult days ahead.”

Alas... not a soul but my most un-photogenic self. Just how "un-photogenic" can be seen at the site below, "2007 Collages", "Rock & Bowl Mar.8". Fat boy, black tee, top right pic. http://www.cjndncr.com/

I pulled forward a foot into the pedestrial crosswalk at a red light at "o'dark thirty" this morning - this prompted two flashes - I assume from a traffic camera. I sure hope they do not intend to write a ticket due to that.
