State Commissioner of Higher Education Joseph Savoie is leaving the job to become the President of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette later this year.
The Louisiana Board of Regents, will replace Savoie.
Mitt Romney
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has chosen Scott Sewell, the chairman of Associated Contractors and Travis Cummings as statewide political director.
Ron Paul
Not that it means much, but, Ron Paul had a larger crowd attending his Kenner, Louisiana appearance on Monday than did Fred Thompson when he dropped in before heading for Iowa. Both were on the campaign trail and neither appears to be going anywhere in the primaries.Kenner is on the outskirts of New Orleans.
Barack Obama
On Monday night during the CNN debate when Barack Obama teased about Bill Clinton’s dancing ability when asked about whether he was the “first black president of the United States”, was Obama’s statement over the line? Then, possibly equally offensive, who coined Bill Clinton as the first black President?Unfortunately, the election between Hillary Clinton and Obama have had some significant racial undertones as they compete for South Carolina voters.
The Louisiana primary takes place after Super Tuesday.

It’s late, well into the night. Most of America is completely unaware that there was a Republican caucus going on anywhere in America tonight (Tuesday night), but we had one in Louisiana, and Ron Paul may have just won his first primary — Outright.
It’s been said the world is ran by the people who show up, and tonight it appears the people who showed up was the Ron Paul crowd. They cast their votes for delegates to the state convention, people that will support Ron Paul in the seven congressional districts around Louisiana. Those delegates get to nominate people to go to the state convention, a total of 41 delegates. 3 of those delegates are reserved for the National committee people as well as the state chairman. 20 delegates goes to the winner of the Louisiana Primary if… and that’s a very big IF the winner of the Louisiana primary gets 50% +1.
Right now, it is not very likely that any of the Republican candidates will get 50% of the vote. That means, if the Ron Paul supporters out numbered the hardcore Republican voters in the seven congressional districts, they could very well decided the fate of all the delegate votes to the national convention. If the turn out in the other congressional districts is anything like the turnout in Baton Rouge, it could very well mean that Ron Paul just won 38 of 41 of Louisiana’s Republican delegate votes.
The results will be in tomorrow, and the state is still very much up for grabs, but one thing is certain, Ron Paul made a mark in Louisiana and coupled with his recent second place finish in Nevada, and with Fred Thompson’s recent drop out of the race, Ron Paul might just make a very unlikely come from behind run at it.
The world is ran by people who showed up. If you didn’t caucus on Tuesday night, you have yourself to blame for the results. Written by DanPatrick

"OK, who noted this board on a Ron Paul website or forum? I know that there aren't that many RP supporters in the general public."
Har har. Ron Paul raises over $6 mill in one day, breaking ALL fundraising records, his Veteran day rally in Philly drew over 5,000 people, and he doesn't have many supporters in the general public? LOL!
BTW, I surfed in from Google; no website or forum
"BTW, when is anyone going to give me some concrete reasons (not political fluff; but detailed, fact-based, step-by-step plans for economics, foreign policy, health care, national security, etc.) that I should vote for RP?"
You're a big boy aren't you? Do some research for yourself. You can start on Ron Paul's campaign website, videos on Youtube (be sure and watch the video from 2002 where he's telling Bill Moyers that the looming Iraq war was a bad idea, and that it would have bad consequences, and also the series of videos where he's interviewed on NPR in New Hampshire), and maybe even read one or more on the books that Ron Paul has written, on economics/monetary policy, and foreign policy. Dr. Ron Paul is the only republican other than to some extent Mike Huckabee who understands that the eletorate is completely fed up with the Bush administration. Dubuya is a 32 percent popularity and has floundered in the 30's almost his entire second term. Vice-President Bush and President Cheney are the most unpopular president and vice-president for the longest amount of time since modern polling began 70 years ago. Upwards of 70 percent of Americans think the country is headed in the wrong direction and has been headed in the wrong direction for all of Bush's second term. All of the republican candidates save Dr. Paul and Mr. Huckabee do not get it. All the other republican candidates offer is Bush-lite. If the republican party does not get it by November, they will be slaughtered at the polls just like they were in November '06. Keep ignoring candidates like Ron Paul who understand the constitution in a way that the others don't and the republican party is condemned to a minority status for decades to come. Comments like "not that it matters" contribute toward leading the republican party and the conservative movement over the cliff as the Bush administration has been doing the last seven years. Professor - Let's give it a shot. Source: http://treas.gov/press/releases/reports/additionaltable3.pdf
Fact - 163 billion dollars were added to the national debt in 2007.
Fact - the amount spent on defense spending was 530 billion. This is approximately 50% of every dollar spent.
Fact - a modest 22% decrease in defense spending would have erased the 163 billion added to the debt and sill left us with a budget of 397 billion. "U.S. military spending in 2006, over $528 billion, was 46% of the entire military spending in the world and greater than the next fourteen largest national military expenditures combined." Source - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States#Government_and_politics
Fact - Dr. Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate that is willing to say that defense spending cuts are needed.
So it's easy - if you want to continue the status quo, running up huge deficits that your children will need to pay, then don't vote for Paul, if you want a smaller government, and a dollar that is actually worth something vote for Paul.
Your turn - please tell me why I should vote for YOUR candidate?

"Not that it means much..." I see you're another hack that thinks he can predict the future but fails to read the tea-leaves properly. How about this prediction: Ron Paul has the money to fight a campaign of attrition against the other poorly funded loosers (with the exception of the self-funded Romney) and proves to be a real contender for the nomination. Huckabee, McCain, Thompson, and Guiliani don't have the money to advertise in any states after Florida. Without the advertisements, they're toast. It'll come down to the two that can afford to fight the battle in ALL of the status all the way to a brokered convention - Paul and Romney.
