Yesterday, Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden today endorsed United States Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., for re-election, joining sixty-eight mayors from throughout Louisiana to declare their support for the state's senior Senator.
In a Landrieu press release Mayor Holden joined ten other Baton Rouge-area mayors who have already announced their support for Sen. Landrieu which includes New Roads Mayor Tommy Nelson, Fordoche Mayor Justin Cox, Maringouin Mayor John Overton, Clinton Mayor Donald Jefferson, Denham Springs Mayor Jimmy Durbin, Port Allen Mayor Derek Lewis, Donaldsonville Mayor Leroy Sullivan, Iberville Mayor Maurice A. Brown, St. Gabriel Mayor George Grace and St. Francisville Mayor Billy D'Aquilla.
However, as expected, the John Kennedy campaign released this statement regarding the Landrieu campaign:
First Mary Landrieu cast the deciding vote against expanding domestic oil exploration in May, simply because Senate Democrats asked her to do so.
Now Mary Landrieu is raising money at the Manhattan townhouse of anti-gun, pro-gay marriage liberal Mayor Mike Bloomberg, creator of The Mayors Against Illegal Guns Coalition. And just hours ago, Mary Landrieu was endorsed by another prominent member of Mayor Bloomberg’s anti-gun group, Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden.
Louisianans deserve a conservative Senator who will always stand strong with gun owners to protect the Second Amendment and supports a constitutional amendment against same sex marriage. That is exactly the kind of Senator John Kennedy will be.
So, the US Senate beats goes on.
6th Congressional District
One of the politicians who received much recognition from Congressional Democratic leadership was new Congressman Don Cazayoux from the Baton Rouge area.Cazeyoux pits himself as a conservative democrat, yet, his opponents cast him as a Pelosi liberal.Without doubt, Pelosi and others did shower him with praise for disaster-related legislation that he has passed and signed by President Bush which would define the respective roles between HUD and FEMA.Cazayoux has just won the seat but now faces re-election against GOP supported William “Bill” Cassidy and Michael Jackson, formerly a Democrat who is running as “No Party”.
