Louisiana Senate Race: Landrieu, Kennedy Farming For Votes

Written by: Stephen Sabludowsky

With the US Senate race election quickly approaching, Mary Landrieu will be picking up major endorsements from Jefferson Parish.  Also, on Friday, she will be meeting with over one thousand women who support her.

Today, her press secretary released a statement which suggests that Kennedy is flip-flopping on farm help for Louisiana.  She is using farming against Kennedy just as she used sugar against her prior opponent.

Kennedy and Landrieu will be debating Sunday on television and can address these charges by the Landrieu campaign.  What is most important is that conventional wisdom says that Kennedy is far behind Landrieu, that his campaign has not taken off.  However, he can fix some of this with a good showing during the debate.  He must come out and talk about who he is and what he stands for.  He can't just bash Washington--the same Washington that McCain and George Bush have been mainstays.  If he doesn’t connect with the voters with his own vision for this country and most importantly for this state, I predict that despite the expected strong turnout for McCain, he will remain treasurer after the US Senate elections.

John's siding with the senator from Oklahoma does not bode well with many. I'm a republican who will not forget that very soon. He also needs to get off the negative rhetoric. Most of the electorate knows of the windfalls Landrieu brought home. John needs to give a reason why we should elect him, not why we should not reelect landrieu.

Stephen, I've got news for you and the rest of the liberals. George "dubya" isn't running this year. He is term limited out. As for Kennedy I doubt he will have an opportunity to be himself because Landreau will become the attack dog. So to defend himself he'll do the same. I'm Landreau will bring up all she has gotten single-handedly for Louisiana. Well after 12 disappointing years as our federal senator, I've had enough! She, as all dems do during election or reelection, always come back to the center as modorates then go to Washington and fall into lock step with, Reid, Kerry, Barack Hussein Obama and the big one Kennedy. Old Kennedy will not resign but will die holding that senate seat if he makes to the 111 senate in January 2009!

O.K. Mr. Kennedy, do the right thing, promise the farmers that they will get the opportunity to buy a brand new John Deere 9030 series or a 6030 series tractor..... And......... Diesel @ .99+ cents per gallon, plus a fertilizer subsidy... This will leave lots of room for interpretation…. That should take care of that issue…
