According to an article from the Times Picayune, written by Bill Walsh, U.S. Senator David Vtter might be forced to testify in the “D.C.” Madam case. The TP is reporting that the “Madam” is requesting a subpoena for Vitter’s testimony in connection with a prostitution ring.
Immediately after the scandal broke, Vitter said he had sinned but never stated about what the “sin” was related to. Various local news stories have alleged sexual scandals related to Vitter and the Senator has refused to answer any questions regarding those allegations other than saying generically, that the stories were false. One prostitute reportedly has passed a lie detector test arranged by Larry Flynt but conducted by a well respected expert in the field.
According to the TP, “Montgomery Sibley said he had asked the clerk of the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., to issue a subpoena to Vitter to testify at a Nov. 28 hearing that could spill salacious details of the scandal that has captivated the nation's capital for more than a year.
Judge Gladys Kessler ordered the hearing to determine whether Deborah Jeane Palfrey, 50, can proceed with her breach-of-contract lawsuit against a woman she once employed as an escort. Palfrey said she signed contracts with all her escorts promising they wouldn't do anything illegal and that Paula Neble broke it by engaging in prostitution. “
"The issue at the hearing is whether the lawsuit is legitimate or not," Sibley said in an interview. "Part of the proof will be whether the escort was breaking that contract. Only two people will know that answer: the escort and the customer."
According to the Tp, Vitter declined to answer questions about the subpoena.
Good research, RW! Good points too. The bottomline is if those at the top don't care, what can possibly happen to change the endemic corruptive state of affairs?
Here's the kicker - the TP sued for the evidence in the Memorial Hospital scenario.
The evidence surfaced and I hear it was QUITE enlightening BUT, as proving my point here, did you see even ONE article on the evidence results interpreting the results and connecting it back to what happened? NO! Why? Because the media and those in charge already decided what the answer would be before any evidence was available to the public and no one was interested - so why did they sue for the evidence, one asks. Let's parlay that behavior into an entity suing for the names of the johns, etc. in the prostitution scenario. Say the case is opened for there is NO legal reason for it to be sealed and IF no one cares enough about it to even write an article, what purpose does it serve for us little peons to get all upset about the corrupt state of affairs when it is endemic? And this, my dear, is why Louisiana is the laughing stock of the nation.... And will always be, short of a miracle performed by Jindal in his tenure to be... Pray for miracles.. Written by Watchdog

Watchdog, dear, we will make some discreet inquiries for assistance in this matter. My, having to be discreet at our ages. Ronnie Virgets, dear man, had this to say in May of 2003: "The sentence comes out like this: Jeanette Maier will report on May 19 to a VOA halfway house for a six-month sentence and pay a $10,000 fine, interest waived. In 49 minutes, the People of the United States are finished with Jeanette Maier. Or at least those people who matter in these matters. ... "
Who are the people that matter in these matters? All of the criminals, dears, all of them including the johns. Some will say that we are being monsters in asking for this information. Some will say that so much time has passed. Some will say that the Feds spent so much money already. We say that while the Feds investigate the corruption, we intend to investigate the biggest and oldest corruption, or should we say profession in the world. Written by RhettsWife

RW, here's the real deal - the record gets sealed to protect the guilty, the community is passive and does not protest, time passes beyond the prescriptive period deadline and then IF and when people protest it after the prescription period deadline, the ones at the helm are heard saying, "quitcherfussin, it's prescribed and all yer going to do is cause family ruckuses." Isn't it fun living in N.O. with the art and science of fact hiding? Written by Watchdog

Interesting quote. Was that made before or after Jim Letten said that anyone who wanted to know the names should go to the courthouse to read them? If it was sealed after, then laissez faire/the city that forgot to care N.O. needs to let out some public outcry to protest the sealed record. There are only very few instances where the record is allowed to be sealed - what was the allowable?
reason for the record being sealed? Because of family discord issues as I mentioned earlier? How about crimes being covered up as NO reason to seal the record? I don't know that Jeannette is a very credible source - she and Larry, your friend, were acting as a team the last time she came into the light. Again, as long as LA. is so endemically corrupt as in sealing records of prostitution names, then we will NEVER have any credibility and we will never be properly respected for any disasters or such. Then again - the sealed evidence re: the Memorial Hospital case surfaced after the TP sued for it under FOIA, as I recall. Perhaps some entity can sue for the unsealing of the names in the prostitution case under FOIA. Ya think? If anyone really cares, that is.... Written by Watchdog

Watchdog, dear, we went back to look at some old reports in the papers and elsewhere and found this little item:
"When reporters, hungry for salacious details, tried to get their hands on the client list--rumored to contain the names of some of the wealthiest and most powerful men in New Orleans--U.S. District Judge Ivan Lemelle, the federal judge hearing the case, sealed the court records."
Were federal prosecutors and the local District Attorney scared to go after many of the people on the list, which allegedly included some of New Orleans' best-known doctors, lawyers, business owners, athletesm a judge, a local TV personality, and a couple of city councilmen.
Frankly, dears, although it has been a while since we have heard from Jeanette, it is time for her to come forward and make life a lot more interesting for the people of this city. Frankly, dears, don't you think we all should give a good loud D**N!!!

Prostitution in D.C. or locally, the Senator's name comes up in both scenarios. You said you wanted names and I pointed out that the names LOCALLY are allegedly in local court records, according to the media. One doesn't have to pester Lenten for those names, as I mentioned if names are wanted, a court document search should reap results, if the media was accurate in their reports. Please let us know of your results. Why the concern about other politicians nationally that are on the phone number list when our reputation is so tarnished here - for if we ask for accountability from others, we'll be laughed at? As it is, we can't get respect for the Katrina fiasco as in the president's recent veto for monies here. A reputation is a thing that takes time to build and even more time to rebuild once tarnished as LA's reputation is with the corruption. Let's clean up our own house first. Let's expose the names LOCALLY first, deal with that and then and only then will we have a shred of any credibility to ask for accountability from others. We have to crawl before we walk. Larry F. just found our Achilles heel and used it. I agree all who are involved need to be exposed but I am for limiting the humiliation factor for LA. No doubt, Larry was put up to it by some faction but it seems counterproductive for Louisiana to demand a national phone list when LA. corruption is so endemic that LA. can't even get local prostitution names to surface. A request for such would, no doubt, result in an exposure of our ineffectiveness in cleaning up prostitution issues locally. I hope this clarifies my view. Written by Watchdog

Watchdog, dear, we are talking about two sets of document.
1. The D.C. Madame's list - telephone numbers from what we remember. Yes that list is supposed to be public. However, this means translating those numbers into names. I am sure Old Larry has them figured out but he will not release them all because he only wishes to hit certain people.
2. The Canal Stree Madame's list - allegations have been made by some that David was involved with one of her girls (pictured with Flynt also). Now the Madame suffered but the johns did not. These men should also be brought out of the legal closet by Mr. Letten. Are there too many republicans in that list, along with the democrats, and some prominent indidividuals? We do not wish to make this a vendetta against anyone individual but when Flynt hits one, then hit them all. Letten needs to open those books.
3. The news media, particularly the T-P and the major television stations need to open this Pandora's Box and let the public know. They have the resources to do it.
Why all they have to do is to provide us with an attorney and they can file the suit on behalf of RhettsWife and the Velvet Glove Brigrade. Do they dare? Written by RhettsWife

I also believe that the sun needs to shine on all that were involved in the prostitution. And I am NOT taking up for Vitter or anyone of his ilk, even if he happens to be the FIRST to be singled out. He did it, he needs the light focused on him. Period. As I seem to recall when the scenario was at its' height of investigation, the media reported that the NAMES are on the books in the court system files for anyone to go read. Does anyone else recall this piece of trivia?
I kept waiting for the media to publish the names, I'm still waiting. I also heard the names included high profile attorneys, judges, etc and there was fear that it would destroy many marriages and make for much disension in families. Tch, tch, tch. What does familial relationships have to do with criminal activities? What did these men expose their wives to, unbeknownst to them, if we are speaking of tending to the family fires? There was also the issue of wholesale upheaval in the area should all those high profile names come out. The real question is IF the info is in the court system for all to read, then WHY isn't that list published for all to see? Could this be an example of money talking? If they have one exposed, let the others be exposed. IF the media was correct, the names are there for public perusal. Go for it, Rhett's wife, research those names and report back here with the names for us to see. You can do it! A hired detective is not necessary, just good old court record research.
It could be 'hiding in plain sight' if the media's reports were accurate. Written by Watchdog

Ole Jarhead, dear, thank you. We believe that Mr. Vitter's constitutional rights are being trampled on when he is being singled out in this vicious attack. Where is the ACLU when you need them? They could actually do some good for this community. We believe in the enforcement of laws equally against all people, even those who may have been involved in criminal activities. Let's subpoena them all. That poor madame in New Orleans had to face criminal charges and as part of the bargain gave up her little book in the process. Now all of those johns are being supported in their criminal activities by the authorities. Oh yes, prescription has run (we do love to use those legal terms) but as far as we are concerned our right to know never runs out. Written by RhettsWife

Sorry, Stephen, but on this one we have to say:
Good morning, dears. Now let's get the heart of this issue. As we enjoyed the verandah last night, we decided that David has only one opition and that is take the stand. Tell the truth and tell the court to subpoena every other person on those records, including Flynt and the details of his payments to the hooker from New Orleans. While we are at this point also, Mr. Letten, let's get the New Orleans Madame's little book out there also. If Mr. Vitter is going to pay the consequences so should every other john and hooker that are in that book. Everyone on here is talking about values and crimes and hypocrites. Well let's start hitting everyone that would fit that criteria. Now where is the card for that private detective? Maybe we can get some answers about some important people that way. Put on another pot of coffee, Belle, dear, we have a lot of work to do in the weeks and months ahead. If the Times-Picayune would get to work on that little black book, it might do the city and state a favor. Does it have something to hide also? What about the other news media in this city and state? Do their owners have something to hide also? Oh, oh, have we hit a raw nerve. Written by RhettsWife

Are you trying to say that the employee who is alleged to have broken the contract broke the contract with the Senator? If so, that will indeed be an interesting turn of events on Nov. 28. For the Senator will HAVE to tell the truth instead of merely clutching to religious rhetoric of sinning and hiding behind his wife who adamantly told the press to leave her family alone. I don't recall the Senator's wife telling the media to leave her family alone when her husband was running for political offices, do you? If the truth is not told in court, society calls it perjury. Am I seeing a rock and a hardplace event here? Awaiting what happens next esp. since we've been owed an explanation for months now from an official we elected who thinks we, his employer, do NOT deserve an explanation. Maybe the issue of perjury will cause the truth to surface in some form UNLESS another run and hide game is in the works to avoid giving testimony. Time will tell. Written by Watchdog
