Louisiana Voter Fraud and Racism

Bayoubuzz is updating the web servers, please refresh or reload the page
Sorry for the inconvenience
Over the past few weeks we have heard reports of voter fraud across the nation. There are ongoing investigations in several states into voter registration efforts sponsored by ACORN and other groups tied to the Democratic Party. In some cases, people were paid in cigarettes and cash to register multiple times. In other cases, fraudulent applications were submitted with fictitious names such as "Mickey Mouse" or the members of the Dallas Cowboys football team.

ACORN has registered 1.3 million voters across the nation. With their track record of corruption, it is legitimate to question how many of these registrations are fake.

In Louisiana, Secretary of State Jay Dardenne just announced that an investigation has been launched into the activities of Voting is Power, a Washington based organization. The registrar offices are currently reviewing these cards to check authenticity. Already many of the forms submitted by this organization have been exposed as outright forgeries, while others are incomplete or duplications.

All across the state, registrar of voter offices have been swamped with thousands of voter registration forms. The efforts have been targeted in urban areas with high concentrations of minority voters and typical Democratic Party constituencies.

Dardenne is investigating why so many of the registration forms are fake or duplicates. He will forward the results of his investigation to the local district attorneys.

Voter is Power was hired by the Democratic Party to sign up 70,000 new voters in Louisiana anticipation of the November elections.

It is clear that the Louisiana campaign is part of a nationwide effort being launched by the Democratic Party, which is working feverishly to sign up as many voters as possible.

It is a worrisome sign that ACORN and Voting is Power is submitting so much fraudulent information. If these groups were really interested in fair elections, they would not object to laws which require a picture ID for voters to cast a ballot. In contrast, ACORN believes that such a commonsense security measure is somehow racist. What is disturbing is that we could be witnessing a nationwide effort to thwart the will of the voters of America. It is a legitimate question to ask whether this is a ploy to steal an election.

Congratulations to Secretary of State Jay Dardenne for launching this investigation. If any voter fraud is uncovered, the organization involved in this effort and its sponsor, the Democratic Party, should also be investigated for potential violations of the law.

Yeah T-Duhhhhhhhb, that is almost hilarious, conservatives being on the wrong side of history... Your problem is that you are stuck in the middle class, instead of an uberelite society, and it is the conservatives that caused this condition to manifest itself…… I am thankful for that, if not for that fact I would probably be required to have some kind of state issued license or some kind of degree to access the internet……….. Right now, the only reason why conservatives may be considered as being on the wrong side of history, is we were either born in, or occupy the wrong side of history, which unfortunately for the sheep that are buying into this new world order thing, is unfolding before our very eyes……….. What you do not know about history, among a great deal of other things would fill volumes………………… Things are not always so grand when seated at the Grand Piano… and prohibited from playing……….. Remember, there is a great distinction between being a conservative, and a slumlord owner……. Each which requires capital to exist……………. So I would suppose that to a certain extent, the true conservatives need to redefine, and realign their selves a little more closely with their desired objectives in life… Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh,,,,, it is a shame that both correct and popular rarely occupy the same space at the same time…… It all sounds so Einsteiny to me…. Oh well, I would rather play soccer than listen to a dissertation about Socrates….. So, babble on, babble on…..

Options for excess Social Security receipts: 1) give it back to those who paided into the system (wow, what a concept, "change" for a purchase above and beyond its cost, seems fair to me) 2) invest this money for future SS outlays 3) put this money aside for future SS outlays 4) spend every damn dime, have an IOU called "The Social Security Trust Fund" - basically, take the money, spend it, lie about the IOU being a "Trust Fund" - the vote of our "public servants" is in.... numba four wins by a landslide!!!!

Tee, Why not privatize social security?? Once President Obama and the democrat supermajority is in charge, the stock market should shoot up into the 20,000 point range in no time, maybe 30,000 by 2012. Social security recipients will be in high cotton. (Oops, sorry for the racist cliche.) Everything will CHANGE for the better. I know I've resisted it, but now that the American Renaissance is at hand, will I be allowed to reap the benefits, or will I be held back so the meek can inherit the earth? Please note that I have not crossed over the $250,000 threshold, therefore I'm not one of the dark-siders whose greed must be punished to finance the dream.

Perhaps the most "vexing" part any problem that government tries to "fix" is that they (BOTH parties) are incapable of considering that the best thing for them to do may in fact be "let it be" and not attempt to install a "fix" that simply provides a short term benefit with long term negative consequences as well as benefiting some to the detrement of others.

Let us put this one to bed with this: factcheck.org has investigated and determined that the McCain campaign's claims of massive voter fraud -- as well as claims of an ACORN connection with the financial/credit market crisis are all, as I suspected, greatly exaggerated. Alright. That's the fact. This is BS and, most important, not dealing at all with the real issues and real problems, which indeed are truly vexing and challenging to probably an unprecedented level.

Well, MIV, I would think that focusing on the real issues would involve both parties stating what each of them contributed to the current financial crises. I do not mean pointing their fingers at the "other" party, but rather be forthright about what their own party did to contribute to this mess. Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac's loans to disadvantaged prospective home buyers started the ball rolling and then greed took it even further. Instead the two parties will (predictibly) say the other party caused this mess. I truly am not "picking" on the Democratic Party, but their denial about Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac (anyone who questions its goals, its CEO's compensation or the effect it has had on the financial crises is labeled "racist" by Democrats - that is simply Bulls#it, BTW) does not convince THIS investor to move his money back into the stock market. Both parties are like a small child in that they will not admit error. That does not convince me to have confidence in either party's ability to see the problems as they actually exist. http://www.nrsc.org/multimedia/details.aspx?ID=147

The fact remains that the poorer, the less well educated and so on are the less frequent voters. These are people who tend to feel that they have little or no stake in things, that no matter who wins in an election their life situations are likely to remain about the same. If Democrats are looking to rely on the votes of these people they are making a bet that they aren't likely to win. The people who are more likely to vote are the people who are the more well educated, the more well off and those who feel more strongly that they do have a stake in things at election time, i.e. a lot of the voters who might vote either way. All this hysteria about ACORN working to help people in minority communities register to vote seems to be just that, hysteria. It's well past time to move off the non-issues, one of which this alleged voter registration fraud is, and focus more on the real issues, e.g. the economy, jobs, health care, terrorism, national security, etc.

If someone wanted a boatload of government money to spend on registering and promoting the vote of white middle class voters who, for whatever reasons, don't exercise their rights to vote, do you think it would happen - hell NO. Democrats use the underserved, undereducated, lower-income, etc. etc. filters to justify spending that kind of money. It's very convenient for them, because they've created the perception that only government handouts can reach these people who blindly and ignorantly support democrats in ignorantly high percentages, and then accept no solutions in return, just continued handouts. That's the crime in this. It has nothing to do with increasing the participation of Americans in the political process. It has everything to do with empowering democrats. Just like a New Orleans street gang hit man when he's brought in for questioning - Deny, Deny, Deny the facts, but it's obvious what ACORN exists for.

True, true. Most people should want to register to vote, vote and also exercise some thought about which way to vote when they do so. Yet, many people still do not vote and also feel like their vote makes no difference even if they cast it and even though the right is indeed precious and is everyone's one chance to make a difference. Still, given our nation's history, it's understandable that some people would see these very stories about these reactions to alleged fraud and possibly get the idea that there'll be trouble for them if they try to exercise their precious right to vote, even though that's an idea that someone would have to be fairly ignorant in order to conceive. http://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics/AP/story/730941.html Don't forget, also, the recent Justice Department scandal which helped to bring down Bush's longtime ally, former Attorney General Gonzales, had to do with pressure being brought on U.S. attorneys in various states to prosecute alleged voter fraud more vigorously. http://www.pubrecord.org/law/360.html?task=view In general, though, it's the people with the most education, most wealth, etc. who are also the most regular voters with poorer and less educated people being the least frequent voters -- and those are the ones which ACORN, etc. are trying to help (and ACORN is indeed also working to cooperate with authorities in the instances of alleged voter registration fraud...which is also BTW not at all the same thing as actual voter fraud). Why is it not to the good to have more people feeling more encouraged to vote and be a part of the process? Here's an idea: if McCain and Republicans were less concerned with ACORN and more concerned with actually offering up ideas and solutions to our economic problems and other meaningful issues they might have a better shot to win on election day than it seems as of now that he does.

When you turn 18 you can walk, drive, ride a bus, take a taxi, get a friend to drive you, etc. to the registrar of voters office and register to vote. If you really want to vote all you have to do is go register. If you haven't done this then maybe you're not really nterested in voting, got other things to do. So why does Acorn get federal grants etc. to go out and register people that should take this right seriously and register on their own. I never saw any black or white gangs out there trying to keep me from registering or anyone else for that matter. This is a right that we take for granted and it's my opinion that you need to get off your ass and register. Registering to vote in order to get a cigerette or a dollar or a bucket of chicken is about the most stupid thing I have ever heard of, this is a serious right we have.

I still don't see the question addressed at all as to repeated GOP tactics of voter intimidation and suppression, which definitely have been a major issue in the swing states. This is BS. Let the one who isn't guilty of something cast the first stone. How many people SHOULD do their civic duty and don't? We need to encourage more voting, not discourage it. Yes, of course, people should try to vote wisely and not be mere pawns in a process. But that hardly means that they should be denied their right to vote. And, please, do not tell me that working class voters who vote GOP in spite of how the GOP does NOT represent their economic interests (put the rhetoric aside and check the actual history and data) are themselves not just as gullible as they accuse lower class voters who vote Democratic of being. And BTW the SCOTUS has now sided against the Ohio GOP officials who are once again looking to cast roadblocks on people getting a chance to do their civic duty.

Here's the bottom line about the ballot box - the one power the ordinary person has left is his or her vote. The Republicans, a minority party, are well aware of this, and it frightens the sh*t out of them. It is time to turn back 30 years of Reaganomics and focus on growing the middle class this time. Do any of the the liberals and "independents" on this site actually expect us to believe that an organization like ACORN and the countless others out there are not planning to commit vote fraud? Once they sign up 1.3 million voters, are we supposed to believe that an organization so well funded and organized will not take part in sending ringers into the polls to vote the ballots of those fraudulently registered? Are we supposed to think that precinct workers in democratic party bastions will honestly take part in accurate and truthful voter identification prior to voting when your standard line is that any effort to turn someone away from the polls is intimidation and suppression of votes? TOTAL BULLSH!t and you know it!!! And all of you Tee Dubs in the world are so convinced of your righteousness that you condone this kind of abuse of our founding principles as justified and necessary to right the social "wrongs" that you preach about. ModIndVoi - The time to deal with voter fraud is before the fact, not after it has tainted the election process. Once the election is secured through fraudulent means, then the cries of racism will be even louder when the victor (and recipient of the stolen election) is unseated. Thinly veiled voter registration drives, which are just one step in democratic party financed vote buying machines, are counter to democracy. Sure, everyone should vote, across all racial, party and social lines. But the democratic party uses minority voting drives to bring uneducated, unthinking, and gullible voters into their ranks. This assures democratic victories and power for the democratic party, which can only be counted on to continue voter drives, but never to really address the ignorance, poverty and dependence that is their stock and trade. Democratic party voter drives are the most cynical, legally line-straddling, manipulative, and deceptive practices in American elections today. They increase voter fraud, they take advantage of the ignorance and dependency they perpetuate for the gain of the democratic party, and they mock the essence of democracy by pretending that they are about enfranchisement, when they are only about using the black underclass as pawns in their game. No part of the political process is more destructive to the government of a republic than voter fraud and manipulation. Manipulating the voters to gain power for party hacks (black and white, democratic or republican) is morally wrong and it is destroying our nation.

It's interesting how the right wing has always seemed to be fighting against letting everyone get to exercise their right to vote, from opposing voting rights in past times to whining about supposed voter fraud now. And, while there's this whining about voter fraud there's utter silence regarding charges of voter suppression and voter intimidation. So, people should not be allowed to do their civic duty...we don't want that, right? That's what this is all about. And then we turn right around and whine about minorities not acting like we think they should. We want people to stay in school, not do drugs, not commit crimes, not have children until they're ready, etc., but we tell them they can't vote and can't try to make a difference through the legit way to do that. What makes much sense to me is that a surefire route to more lawlessness and disorder and many other less than positive consequences is keeping people convinced that they don't have a stake in things and have no chance to do anything about anything. The healthiest state of affairs for the country as a whole, by contrast, is a country where there is a vibrant middle class and real opportunity for all to better themselves and make a difference by doing the things that they ought to be doing, such as voting. Sure, let's investigate fraud, but first let's please stop trying to suppress voting and intimidate voters.

Well here's one southerner's opinion on things political Yankeeboy. I believe in the free market (no bailout BS for ANYONE thankyouverymuch). I am an atheist and feel the taxpayer would often "get a bargain" by paying for an unwanted child’s abortion. As far as race, sex and sexual orientation goes, I would gladly see a free market gay black female over any “tax and spend” white heterosexual male holding ANY public office. Sure there are white racists south of the Mason-Dixon line (they're up north too unless you are blind or in denial), so what? I think you suffer from the problem of seeing only the far extremists on issues you oppose and then believe that all who oppose your views are like these lunatics. Untrue and inaccurate, if those mean anything to you. After all, does the “Unabomber” exemplify those who want to protect the environment? Hardly. I would like to see political discourse graduate from the 2nd Grade level in this country before I die – where issues are discussed in an adult manner – but I truly do not think I’ll live to see the day.

Q: What do you get when you mix a YankeeKid with a T-Dub? A: A T-Yanker…………. Nayuck-nuck-nuck-ncuk-nuck-nuck-nuck……………………….. (That’s a Southern Louisiana pun Ohio boy) Dayton, Cincinnati, Youngstown, Lorain, Columbus, Cleveland, I have shot pool in some of the best pool halls in the nation…… Best pool table in the world though is in Wilmington California on the L.A. harbor……. And I have also shot pool in some of the crappiest pool halls in the nation……. I don’t do Chicago, and I do not do any ‘pub’ on the ‘other side of the tracks’ in South Louisiana…………. And it has nothing to do with Marquess of Queensberry rules….. Anyone that plays pool in earnest would immediately understand why………… And that is about as politically correct as I can be when alluding to the proper name of the game played there so as to not offend the easily startled or offended…….. This whole election process we are currently being subjected to is one of the biggest farces in U.S. History, ehhh, aside from the Edsel I suppose……. Anyways, the only reason why a lot of the younger folks are suffering from Obamarama is because they think it is ‘hip’, and we all know that hip isn’t cool anymore……….. And some are going for the Obamament, er, uh, thrill is for the same twisted reason some little white girls get excitement by totally tweaking their dad’s off and chasing after Negros as ‘soul’ mates while spitting out children left and right…. Just to piss ‘Dad’ off…… And quite often to the detriment of the children, which is fine by me, whatever floats their boat, after all, it is a free country and all that and who am I to say what is good and what is bad…..? So now that I have completely succeeded in crapping on the politically correct crowd’s sensibilities that happen to be reading this (which really do need a major shaking up or we are all pretty well screwed at this point in time.) let me ad-lib on this voter fraud….. Yes, it is treason………. So what does a pool hall have to do with anything? Well, I loved Yankeedoodlers spew on what is racism and what isn’t, and worriment over the world thinking we were all hillbillies here in the good ole U.S. of A… or something (Which incidentally, I know quite a few very fine, hardworking, practical and socially sensible hillbillies in Gary, and no that is not Garfield Ohio, that is Gary Indiana…… But I have had a few cold beers in Garfield… Good stuff……) It is sort of funny, anytime the subject of racism comes up, it is automatically the whites that are at the center of the subject….. Doesn’t matter if there are Mexicans, or Chinese, or Italians, or Negros, or Arabs involved, there is always, and I mean always a white person stuck right smack dab in the center of it………….. You ought to go to Thailand sometime…….. Boy oh boy do they hate the Vietnamese…….. Is that racism? Only if a white person expresses disdain for a Vietnamese person…….. And what about the hatred between the Maine Mariners and the Calgary Flames….. Now is that racism, nationalism, or just hockey????? And when you comment on a persons obvious habits which may, for some strange reason, be peculiar to a particular region, vicinity, or group of people, is that racism? What about Yankees and Southerners? I get a laugh out of Dave Chappell, and Chris Rock, and Tony Mencia… It is funny, some Mexicans bust up laughing at Tony Mencia, and a couple of my friends get indignant when I mention his humor… Same holds true with Dave Chappell, and Chris Rock (Oh, by the way, every now and then for some retarded reason I hang out with Negros and/or Mexicans… Now I don’t know if it is I who is the retarded one, or if it is them that is the retarded ones, or if we all aren’t just a little retarded when we get together in the first place, but………………………….. We do have a couple of good laughs every now and then.) But this Democrat thing….. The party split, wanting Clinton and/or Obama……. Why? Votes, that’s all, votes….. Power…. And McCain? Certainly not the best, and certainly not the worst, but America was not offered the level of excellence for Presidential consideration it was entitled to….. This is the sorriest example of a political race that any Zima induced abstract could have possibly inspired…… It is all based on fad, image, illusion……………………………. People have already made up their minds, the next President is only waiting for it to become official…… But for wholesale voter fraud to be purposely and as far as I am concerned, maliciously perpetuated does not say good things about Americans in general………… So leave the North/South, East-West, Black, White, Mexican, Ms., Mrs., Miss, Mr., Gay-Straight, Jesus-Allah, Jew, Catholic, Methodist, Hari Kirshna issues out of the equation and focus on what is truly at stake here…. And it is not the economy……… It is a way of life, and it is freedom to pursue our happiness’s and goals, raise families, live free from the fear of crime and violence, to not suffer abuse at no-one’s hand, and it is up to each person to turn and do some self reflection…………. And you are out of your minds if you think either one of the Presidential candidates are going to change anything….. They are not God, they are not miracle workers, and they are merely men… It is up to each and every one of us to do what we can to help our neighbors out, and to take care of ourselves at the same time….. And for you stupid race ranting fools out there, you are probably the biggest fool of all……….. Talk about making something out of nothing………………………………….

One last thing... it's ridiculous to say that an organization shouldn't be able to go get the disenfranchised to get involved in the process just because they usually vote Dem. It's frustrating that well-to-do Reps think the less privileged are unable to think as well because they have less money. It's just not everyone agrees with your elitist nature. Maybe we would be the City on the Hill if we weren't inhabited by so many bigots.

Let me begin this by saying I am a 25 year-old, white, privileged kid from suburbia Ohio. Look, I hate to make a blanket criticism to the South, as I have a lot of family in Georgia, and most times really like your section of the country... but good god, do you realize how racist some of you sound? And I don't mean racist in a "you must be politically correct" way, because I'll be the first to say political correctness is part of the problem. But stuff like "Obama's constituency can't read" and "eliminating registration will eliminate one more bottle of wine or box of chicken?" Are you serious? YOU, ALL OF YOU THAT SPEAK THIS WAY, YOU ARE THE REASON PEOPLE THINK SOUTHERN/RURAL REPUBLICANS ARE THE PROBLEM. You give your cause a horrible name. You are why the rest of the world thinks America is filled with fat, lazy, hillbillies. It's absolutely despicable. It's so backwards how the people who consider themselves "patriots" because they listen to Toby Keith sing about boots in hind quarters and subscribe to the idea that to be Republican is to be xenophobic, these "patriots" are the least American of all, and trust me, you are absolutely the reason everyone jumped on Obama's "Change" train. It's because none of us can stand how unintelligent the Republican backing is (or at least the one everyone hears from). And to speak specifically to the always overly conservative Christians that vote on ridiculous issues like gay marriage and abortion (because gov. control of those issues IS REPUBLICAN BIG GOVERNMENT HYPOCRISY), nowhere in the Bible does it say "Jesus was a white conservative, and therefore this is the only demographic that matters." It's quite the opposite in fact, especially considering Jesus was NOT, I repeat NOT a white man. YOU go get an education. YOU realize how privileged you are to be the white majority. YOU try walking in the other poor minority guy's shoes, and then "get a job at McDonald's because they're always hiring." I'm disgusted by the bias of this "news" article and these posts.

Excellent post Robert Desmarais Sullivan..... And it is for the contemplation on subjects you brought up that I say electronic voting is too easy to perpetuate a fraud with..... And the electoral college, and polls, etc., etc., etc. is another manipulation....... Manual machines, manual count........ No to electronics..... You cannot argue with a machine...................................... And if you want to try to get this electronic medium banned, I would join in your efforts Mr. Robert Desmarais Sullivan........................ It only makes good common sense... I am not interested in convenience where leadership and the counting of the tally is concerned.....

Daisy, Obama's strongest constituency is not into spelling and reading that much anyway. And don't count on the democratic party working too hard to change that if they do take over government this election. They know better than anyone that an educated and prosperous population is the biggest threat that the democrats will ever face. And as long as the D is behind Obama's name, his voters won't have any trouble finding the button. Even those evil Republicans can't find a way to misspell D.

Perhaps here's a path forward: let's split the country in two. Big government liberals take one half, those who would like limited government take the other half. Then election time won't be a "win-lose" proposition.

While I agree that this is a sign of voter fraud, why haven't we heard about ballots being printed with Obama's name being misspelled on ballots in some states, the fact that if your home has been forclosed that you can not vote in Michigan. If you are going to print voter fraud let's hear all of the stories and what investigation or being launched. I doubt that we will hear those things beause of the political party that is represented in those cases.

Dears, let's all get on the same track. If there is voter fraud being perpetrated by any organization of behalf of any political party, lay it out there for the Feds to handle and if the Feds don't the people will come election time. The issue is clear. Rid this nation of the crooks, the political refuse of generations of crooked politicians, and of those politicians who refuse to represent all. Jeff, dear, if there is proof put it out and put it out against all involved. Get the show on the road. Interested people want to know the whole truth and the media must give us the whole picture regardless of which party is to blame.

Jeff, it's gloves off with you for me now! However, it's clearly gloves off for me and much of Louisiana now. If my people can accuse only the Democrats of voter fraud, while ignoring the rampant Republican voter fraud, then my people are blind and stupid, and it is really time for me to give up on them. There really are people in the world who can see. . . . The examples are too numerous to mention here. First of all, the GOP continues to resist attempts to subpoena Michael Connell, Republican computer operative who programmed the 2000 Bush-Cheney web site. Connell was hired by former Ohio Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell in 2004 to tabulate the Ohio vote count. Under Connell, Ohio's vote totals were shunted to a computer bank in the same basement in Chattanooga, Tennessee, that housed the servers of the Republican National Committee. In the early hours of the morning after election day, vote totals mysteriously began shifting from Kerry to Bush, swinging the 2004 election. . . . Connell's cyber-security industry colleague Stephen Spoonamore, a Republican and former McCain supporter, has actually stated that Connell may be able to shed light on planned vote-count rigging in the 2008 vote count as well. Attorneys in the King-Lincoln-Bronzeville civil rights lawsuit have thus far been unable to secure Connell's sworn testimony. SPOONAMORE PREDICTS REPUBLICANS ALREADY FIXED 2008 ELECTION FOR UPSET McCAIN VICTORY. . . . Also, a Republican sheriff in Greene County, Ohio, has demanded social security and other records from 302 local voters whose ballots he apparently wants to negate. Sheriff Gene Fischer has requested registration cards and address forms for all Greene County residents who voted in a special session established in Ohio allowing new voters to register and vote on the same day. The process was challenged in court by the GOP. The Ohio Supreme Court turned down that challenge, and allowed the same-day voting to proceed. But now Fischer claims telephone calls complaining about the potential for voter fraud have prompted him to go after the information. He has no authority to do this, but he plans to do this anyway. . . . In Franklin County, home of Ohio State University, Columbus State Community College, Capital University, Ohio Dominican University, and Otterbein College, election protection observers are reporting continuing surveillance by Republicans at Veterans Memorial, the site for early voting. The observers have documented Republican operatives taking photographs and writing down license plate numbers of voters. Election activists expect similar criminal charges as in Greene County to be filed in the state's capital. Greene County is home to Wright State, Central State, Wilberforce and Cedarville Universities, along with Antioch College. Llyn McCoy, Greene County's deputy elections director, says names, telephone and Social Security numbers will be blacked out of any records handed over to the Sheriff. According to McCoy, the Sheriff says he has no evidence of voter fraud other than phone calls stating fraud was a possibility. It is widely assumed that the same-day registration/voting option was exercised primarily by students who lean heavily Democratic. . . . In 2004, African-American students from Wright State, Central State and Wilberforce were regularly challenged on their registration credentials and forced to endure waiting in lines to vote for hours. Students at Cedarville, a Christian school, made no such reports. Sheriff Fischer's targeting of historically black college students, the core of Obama-mania, is intended to send a chilling effect through the ranks of these Democratic voters. U.S. District Court Judge George C. Smith, a Reagan appointee, has approved a GOP lawsuit demanding that the state give county boards of elections great leeway in attacking new voter registration forms. The decision, framed under the Help America Vote Act, would allow Republican challengers access to data from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the Social Security agency to challenge new voters. The Judge noted that Ohio law permits challenges to absentee ballots, thousands of which have been pouring in to elections boards. If allowed to stand, it could give the GOP the right to shred ballots already cast in the Buckeye State, with the precedent possibly being used to further enable a GOP nationwide disenfranchisement campaign. Smith gave Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner a week to respond. Brunner has stated she will appeal. . . . IN MY JUDGMENT, IF THERE IS ANOTHER REPUBLICAN COUP D'ÉTAT, THIS COUNTRY HAS EVERY RIGHT TO EXPLODE. IS THAT THE REASON THE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS AND OTHER CITIES NOW HAVE THE MILITARY EQUIPMENT FOR ITS POLICE FORCE? THE ONLY THING FOR US AS CITIZENS TO DO IS TO TALK WITH OUR POLICEMEN AND NATIONAL GUARDSMEN TO REMIND THEM THAT WE ARE ALL AMERICANS WHO WANT OUR RIGHT TO VOTE. IF THEY KNOW US, THEY WILL PERHAPS DO THEIR DUTY AND DISOBEY THE PRESIDENT, NO MATTER WHAT HE ORDERS.

I concur with Tee Dub regarding the requirement of organizations to turn in all voter registrations -- even the fraudulent ones. Moreover in my experience, ACORN notifies authorities that some registrations may not be correct. Moreover, given what ACORN has done to challenge social and economic injustice, I would not put it past its enemies to "work" for ACORN -- then knowingly screw with their registration drive. If adults could simply be automatically registered because they are citizens [with one declared home address which can be verified electronically], then we can do away with all this foolishness of trying to register voters. OF COURSE, SOME POLITICAL PEOPLE BENEFIT FROM LOW VOTER TURNOUTS, AS WELL AS THE LOW REGISTRATIONS.

I think an interesting ballot would be one where people were allowed to vote whether or not a person was even going to be allowed to run for office. Yes or No... And it goes on until at least 3 are put up for consideration, and if noone makes it, the ones in office are on suspension, and government shuts down until someone is elected......................... Now that would be sort of fun....

There was a recent mailing in Jefferson Parish from the GOP with the Registrar of Voters Dennis Dimarco's address on it asking Democratic voters to switch to Republican. We need to do away with ACORN and any other organization of it's kind. This is rediculous. The argument that these people will not be able to vote anyway is a really stupid argument. It is not only about voter fraud or registration fraud. It is about TRUST in the one man one vote system. It is a threat to the democratic process not to mention the fact that there is a lot of time and money being wasted to verify these applications. People need to go to jail over this. You can't tell me that the morons that sign more than one application don't know that they are doing something wrong. The idiots who try to brush off this illegal activity need to get a clue and seriously examine their motives behind such logic.

Hack is right. And quickly becoming a boring hack. Yet I guess I continue to read...Anyway, Obama has the best voter registration and turnout and volunteer operation in politics right now, and doesn't need ACORN's help. So there’s been fraud perpetrated probably on ACORN, if they paid these individuals and they actually didn’t do registrations, but this isn’t a situation where there’s actually people who are going to try to vote, because these are phony names, and it’s doubtful Tony Romo is gonna show up in Ohio to vote. This is another distraction that gets stirred up in the course of a campaign and not worth the time or energy.

Jeff, this post of yours is pathetic; congratulations, your descent into hackdom is apparently complete. They (ACORN) paid people to register voters, and the folks they hired to do this (obviously not the best and the brightest by a long shot) faked some of the applications ("Hey, more money!"). BY LAW, ACORN has to submit those applications anyway - they cannot destroy them, even if they know that they are fraudulent! I think anyone with a modicum of intelligence can see why the law is written that way! So the fact that there are phony names on voter registration documents does not VOTER FRAUD make. It's a completely different animal - Ivana Pardee and Haywood Jabakoff are not going to show up at the polls November 4th demanding to vote! On a separate riff, why should voters have to register anyway? Shouldn't there just be a list of adults for any given area, and then, you come in and vote? You prove you're an adult resident, you vote, they mark you off, end of story. Finally, in 2000, 2002, and 2004 the GOP worked extremely hard to disenfranchise voters that they deemed unlikely to vote Republican - and it may have cost the Democrats the presidency twice - Florida (2000) and Ohio (2004). And let's not forget that the root of the recent scandal at the Justice Department revolved around the refusal of REPUBLICAN appointees at various U.S. Attorney Offices in NM, etc., to follow up on completely fabricated (by GOP operatives) charges about widespread voter fraud (allegedly "committed" by ACORN and the like). This is the GOP m.o. these days - voter suppression. Don't believe me? Read the book _How to Rig an Election_ by former GOP operative Allen Raymond. And what party is Dardenne in again? I forget. TW

THEY BUSSED THEM IN AND SET UP VOTING IN HOUSTON, WHICH ENDED UP GAINING 90,000 RESIDENTS AFTER KATRINA. ACORN KNEW DAMED WELL FEW, IF ANY, OF THOSE PEOPLE WOULD EVER RETURN.
