You know something is wrong when you are forced to bail out your vice president nominees. In effect, that is what both Presidential campaigns are doing as the days are getting shorter and the campaign is also. Also, a new poll shows that Obama is still a strong force to contend and time is running. Back home, the are other business and political opportunities. Here is some of DeNeuse:
New Orleans Grants
Local business owners, organizations and individuals are invited to learn about applying for grants through the 2008 Economic Development Fund (EDF) during an open meeting Thursday at City Hall.
The EDF staff and others from the Office of Recovery and Development Administration will review the history of EDF and provide the revised 2008 grant applications and information about the grant approval process.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. on November 17. Attendance at Thursday's meeting is not required to apply for the grants.
The meeting will be from 4 until 5 p.m. in City Council Chambers on the first floor of City Hall, 1300 Perdido St.
The Economic Development Fund was created when voters approved the charter change Proposition E in 1991. Property owners are levied 1.25 mills to be used for economic development activities.

Here are statements from the Obama and McCain campaigns as the election campaign comes to an end:
New Orleans Master Plan
Attorney Danatus N. King, President of the New Orleans branch of the NAACP has come out against the proposed Master Plan charter amendment scheduled for the November 4, 2008 election. He issued the following statement:
"The proposed ordinance will create a Master Plan that will have the force of law. As you know, there are some in our City that have pushed for a "reduced footprint" for our City that will turn some of our neighborhoods, especially in the Ninth Ward, the Seventh Ward and New Orleans East, into "Green Spaces." It is very possible that the proposed Master Plan could be used to "reduce the footprint," turn our neighborhoods into "green spaces" and prevent our families, friends and neighbors from returning to our City.
Because the proposed ordinance will allow the creation of a Master Plan that will have the "force of law," and because such a Master Plan could be used to "reduce the footprint" of our City, and because a Master Plan with the force of law would limit our ability to control the development of our City, and because our community has not had an adequate opportunity to study and discuss the proposed ordinance and Master Plan, the New Orleans Branch NAACP does not support the proposed ordinance."

The Young Professionals and its partners, along with local civic and community leaders will gather to launch YoungProfessionalsUniversity on Thursday, October 30, 2008, 5:00 p.m., at the Urban League Headquarters located at 2322 Canal Street.
Obama:
“There will be plenty of important opportunities to help from home in the coming days. But volunteering in a battleground state is the most important thing you can do right now to make sure Barack is elected president.
We to need to fill 845,252 volunteer shifts in battleground states.
Can you sign up for this weekend, or in the final days before Election Day? Campaign staff in Florida are waiting for you.
Make a difference by traveling to a state where the race is extremely close and help put us over the top:”
McCain
My Friends,
I hope you'll take the time today to read the email below from Governor Palin.
By now you've heard that the Democrats combined have raised nearly $200 million in the month of September alone and they're using this money to flood media markets across the country with misleading ads.
While I don't get much time to watch television on the campaign trail, I did see many of these attack ads watching the Arizona Cardinals play the Dallas Cowboys a few Sundays ago. Objective observers have said these ads are full of misinformation and the ads from the left are quickly adding up to the most expensive negative ad buy in history.
Your generous support is needed today to stop the left's misleading attacks against candidates from the top to bottom of our ticket. Will you make a donation right now of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or more to McCain-Palin Victory 2008?
We're less than two weeks away from Election Day and thankful for any amount you can give to bolster advertising and get-out-the-vote efforts in important races across the country. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
John McCain

Subject: My guest appearance on Saturday Night Live
Dear Supporter,
If you caught my guest appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend, you may have seen an ad or two (or twenty) from Senator Obama's campaign.
This barrage of advertising is adding up to the most expensive negative ad buy in political history. And these ads are funded with the nearly $200 million the Obama campaign and the DNC raised in September.
With this new money, they'll only step up their media buying efforts to flood every network with ads attacking our shared values. These ads are full of inaccurate information designed to mislead voters in key media markets.
