Polls: Party Over For Obama As Senate Health Care Vote Nears

Written by: Jeff Crouere

Buzz Right Back----E-Mail a Friend----Print Page

The bloom is off the rose and the obnoxious media fueled honeymoon is over for President Barack Obama. Today for the first time in his young presidency, Obama will register an approval rating below 50% in the Gallup poll. In some polls like Rasmussen, Obama has even lower approval numbers.

The President’s popularity did not even last one year. He was a creation of the media and was accepted by the American people who were looking for a change from the policies of George W. Bush. However, the center-right country does not want hard core liberalism.

This is a shocking fall from grace for the idol of Hollywood and the media. Obama has received more positive news coverage than any other President in history, yet the American people are seeing through the spin.

More and more people are starting to recognize that Obama has a radical liberal agenda. While this may please the elites in the beltway, it does not appeal to average Americans, who do not support trillions in debt, communist czars, a President who apologizes for this country and socialized medicine.

The Democratic Party’s trillion dollar healthcare plan is opposed by 53% of the American people, while only 33% support the bill, according to the latest Fox News poll. Yet, it seems that the Democrats do not care what the American people really want on this issue.

Americans clearly see that the Democrats, led by Obama, are pushing through this monstrosity of a healthcare bill against the will of the majority of American people. Obama is paying the political price now with falling poll numbers and the Democrats will suffer at the next election in 2010. The Democrats could very well lose their majority in the House of Representatives because of voter disgust with their big government agenda.

Tomorrow, Americans will witness a travesty as 60 Democrats will vote for cloture, which will cut off debate on the healthcare bill. This historic and dangerous vote will mean that the bill will, in all likelihood, pass. The Democrats have such a large majority that Senators from conservative states like Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Ben Nelson (D-NE) and Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) will be allowed to vote against the bill when it comes up for a vote. At that point, it will be meaningless for the Democrats will only need 50 votes to pass the bill.

The key vote is tomorrow and the Democrats will certainly deliver for President Obama, but it will not only destroy our healthcare system, but it will also lead to negative political consequences for the Democrats.

Some experts are predicting that Obama may recover like Ronald Reagan who also suffered from low approval ratings in the first few years of his term and later won a landslide victory for a second term. However, Reagan used a very different approach to deal with the poor economy. Reagan cut taxes dramatically and ignited a massive economic recovery that lasted two decades.

In contrast, Obama has been spending trillions of dollars on expanded government, which will lead to a much different outcome from the Reagan years. Obama’s policies will continue to damage the private sector, de-value the dollar insure a high unemployment rate will remain a problem for years to come.

There is nothing like affirmative action at work, plus equality. Let's make everyone dirt poor. Interesting thing on the news last night, some baby crib manufacturer is recalling 2.5 million baby cribs… Actually they are not being called anywhere, what the manufacturer is going to do is send a plastic OEM part to each person that sends a letter saying they want it. I guess this plastic part will help keep the sliding crib ‘door’ from falling down and killing a kid. So, being as the crib is manufactured overseas, being as baby cribs aren’t made here in the U.S. anymore (maybe the Amish sell them, I do not know) they are probably going to ‘jump start’ a sector of our economy by allowing some American plastics manufacturer (or will they use American plastic?) to produce some little ‘plastic clips’ put them in a little ‘plastic bag’, slip them in a manila envelope and put a postage stamp on it. Gee, there is even ‘bailout’ money for the Post office here!!! Total cost? Ehhhh, manufacturing, packaging, shipping and handling perhaps around a buck apiec or 2.5 million bucks… How much was made selling the cribs? Ehhh, at say a 100 bucks a pop, perhaps around 250 million dollars (which mostly went overseas). Why are they made overseas? Well, before a crib can be produced and sold on the market here domestically it has to be ‘tested’ by a ‘sanctioned’ entity because they won’t be allowed test it theirselves using standard testing and evaluation proceedures in the pursuit of meeting common sense standard performance expectations… A person can probably end up spending ½ million bucks easily for one line item, and gawd help you if you want to make 4 different styles of cribs so that the consumer can have ‘choice’ at the local Wally-World. Then of course there is another hefty percentage tacked on to each unit for ‘insurance’ so that someone who loses a baby (and that is terrible but still) due to a 1 in 800,000 accidental chance of it becoming trapped or wedged in the crib (babies come in various shapes and sizes, so I do not know of any ‘onesize’ minimum spacing that would really suffice so I suppose the best bet is to bed the kid down ghetto style in the cardboard box the color t.v. came in) and the distraught parent going to some lawyer who is going to sue for 100 million dollars. As if any amount of money could replace the child. Oh, but the lawyer does this under the guise of consoling the grieved parents that it is going to stop this kind of thing from ever happening again to anyone else (Everybody break out with your candles and yellow ribbons for a silent vigil). Well, in actuality, that will occur, and why? Well, perhaps because laws and their practitioners helped to make it impossible to participate in the manufacturing business of cribs in the first place, and those ‘mavericks’ out there that were stupid enough to try to create jobs and prosperity that did cross into that forbidden land by manufacturing baby cribs now have such jacked up insurance as a result of lawsuits that it is impossible to compete with overseas competition, and those that do try to compete, well, because of an accident, an award for a lawsuit that was made which was a ball buster from the start became a business that was ‘finished off’ ensuring that wouldn’t ever happen again (at least not by that company) and of course, and not considered by the money manipulated parents, ALL THE WORKERS THAT FED THEIR CHILDREN AS A RESULT OF THE PAYCHECK THEY EARNED WORKING AT THE BABY CRIP PLANT LOST THEIR JOBS AND NOW EVERYONE INVOLVED SUFFERS! So greed kills the goose that is laying golden eggs that feed the many just so that one or a few can have a goose dinner. Same thing with healthcare. Over charges, frivoulous lawsuits, abuse, manipulations, society's and entities that overcharge for testings, mandates, proceedures, etc., etc., etc. There are a few folks out there that are actively killing the American Dream so that they can pursue their own. I think I wrote sometime ago that baby crib manufacturing would be a good thing for Louisiana, but when you consider all the folks that have their fingers in the pie all I have to say to that is; “GOOD THING SOMEONE WASN’T ALLOWED TO BRING STRONGCONCRETE TO THE TABLE FOR THE PUBLICS USE OR THERE WOULD HAVE BE A CRUCIFIXTION.” How dare anyone stand in front of the system and say there is a better way!!!

Obama did not create our economic mess. However he (along with congressional cohorts) is making it much worse. When you have a financial problem is your solution to double down on spending or do you prudently cut spending ...Oh well.........Not to worry...This too shall pass. The lies and obfuscation from this administration have been incredible! Amazing really for Mr. Hope and Change to continue the Bush legacy of in your face lies! He is a fool but he is your fool so the lies are OK?

Although OB is our Prez, and I didn't vote fer him, in the end what it will really boil on down to is when things finally do go to hell in a handbasket y'all <myself included> have no one but yourselves <ourselves/us/we/> to blame when the shit hits the fan... So quick, go watch a Saints footybowl game and pretend everything is alright..... This is worse than watching Bobby Bouchiere riding around town on a riding lawnmower, but, that will perhaps become the norm here in America at the rate things are going.....

For columnists and talk show hosts of the right-leaning sort, the bloom was NEVER on the rose. You guys have been on Obama from Day One. Even BEFORE day one; from the day he was elected and for many, even long before that. The man never had a "honeymoon" like every other president in my lifetime has had and I've lived through 12 presidencies. He's not in office two weeks and you've got Flush Limphead hoping "he fails" and others like him cheering him on. The poor guy never had a prayer with the rest of you all over him before he even had a chance to roll out an agenda. The majority of the American people who DIDN'T vote for George W. Bush and justifiably cried foul when a single vote of the Supreme Court put him in office at least gave Bush a chance to prove himself once he got in. We gave him a long honeymoon; at least a year and a half to two years, until his warmongering, war-profiteering game plan became apparent (transparent, would be more like it, actually). Your side had 12 years in control of Congress and 8 years in the White House to do something for the 45-50 million people without health care benefits and instead you squandered a record surplus and turned it into record debt with no-win wars. And now YOU want to scream "Foul!" HA! Well, scream all you want. We've got the numbers now and if you don't like it, too effen bad! Go cry in your beer.

Uh, DQ, it isn't just the GOP, it is even car salesmen in Colorado that are 'dissing' OB..... But the real trick after getting him elected is picking up where they left off... Sooo all in all, tit for tat, or dis or dat, our country is going to get screwed and that is that....................... Oh, and, yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Saints! You are our Heros and will put lots of red beans and rice in our pots when the bottom falls out!!!!!! (as I sit around and pretend to be wide eyed and distracted like a lot of the clones, er uh, clowns on this bored.)

"I don't know what they have to say. It makes no difference anyway; Whatever it is, I'm against it! No matter what it is or who commenced it, I'm against it! Your proposition may be good, but let's have one thing understood - whatever it is, I'm against it! And even when you've changed it or condensed it, I'm against it!" -- Jeff Crouere (just kidding -- it was Groucho Marx, as Quincy Adams Wagstaff, in Horse Feathers)

The best way to stop the extremist agenda of either party is divided government.

It is good to see that the infatuation is over and people are now looking at reality. A new generation that was naive enough to support Obama has learn the hard way that Democrats are nothing but a bunch of big government, tax and spend liberals. Republicans do not have a great track record either but are far better than the party whose main purpose is to bilk the tax payers for everything they can get.

Once again, Jeff proclaims the sky is falling. His premature dismissal of the Obama Administration is just more GOP fearmongering. As Franklin Delano Roosevelt once said, " the only thing we have to fear is fear itself".

I agree, I am a lifelong Democrat and will never cast another vote for any of them. When did American leaders stop wayching out for citizens of this country? We have no jobs yet are being forced into something that we do not want that will benefit no one in the middle classs. If they think amnesty is the next thing they will push on us they are wrong. I do not know one democrat in my group of friends or family that support this twisted agenda. This is the GOP's chance to listen to the American public.

The approval rating is in constant flux there Jeff, just like with any other president...... Interesting thing, Oprah is jumping ship like the rest of the rats... I suppose this is an indication that the party is over...... I figure if Opie Howdy Doodie is a runnin' fer the hills the rest of the lemmings are going to follow her lead... Speaking of lead, we nead some real leadership, and we also need leaders to bring about Change.... Obama has some good intentions I am pretty sure, it's just that for the most part they don't or won't work.... But folks, it is time to start putting effective solutions to work... Right now, we have no time to waste... Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, pizz on it..........
