As of 5:00 pm, here are the candidates qualifying for the statewide US Senate and Congressional offices.  Of particular note is Michael Green who has decided to run as “no party” rather than as a Democrat.  He and others will face the winner of the Democrat primary in Congressional District 6.  Also, in the First Congressional District, James L. "Jimmy" Fahrenholtz who has been on the school board of Orleans Parish has opted to run for Congress.  Currently, that seat is held by William “Bill” Jefferson.  This information is unofficial.

Comments from BayouBuzz readers

Two hunters from Louisiana got a pilot to fly them to Canada to hunt moose... They bagged six.... As they started loading the the plane for the return trip, the pilot said the plane could take only four moose..... The two lads objected strongly.... "Last year we shot six and the pilot let us put them all onboard; he had the same plane as yours.".... Reluctantly, the pilot gave in and all six were loaded..... However, even on full power, the little plane couldn't handle the load and went down a few moments after take-off...... Climbing out of the wreck Boudreaux asked Thibodeaux, "Any idea where we are?"..... "Yaaah" say Boudreaux.... I think we're pretty close to where we crashed last year...............

It would probably be prudent to apply the Strongconcrete Litmus test to this batch of potential 'newbies'.........................
