The New Orleans Hornets took a one game advantage over the World Champion San Antonio Spurs by winning 101 to 79 in New Orleans.

The victory for the Hornets has given them a 3-2 advantage in the NBA West playoff series.  The next contest will be played Thursday in San Antonio.  The Hornets’ victory continued the home team advantage for the series winner as each team has won all of their home games during this playoff series.

The Spurs took a three point advantage at half.  However, the Hornets ran away with the game in the third quarter with a strong defense against San Antonio.  David West had 38 points for the Hornets despite playing with what he called a “stiff back”.  West scored 22 points in the first half.

San Antionio has the most talented team in the NBA, IMHO. When my sports crazy fiance expressed her worry over the Hornets having to play the Spurs so soon in the playoffs I told her "that's okay, if we beat the Spurs we'll have overcome the biggest hurdle we'll face." I had no belief then that the Hornets would actually beat the Spurs or even win more than two games. They're proved me wrong I am most happy to say.
