When discussing Haiti, who would know more about disaster and recovery than Ed Blakely, who was known as the Katrina recovery czar in New Orleans?
Blakely, who has been widely criticized for comments he made durimonths ago during a television interview when he slammed New Orleans citizens, politics and other matters, has given his opinion once again during a radio appearance on an Australian radio station.
Bayoubuzz Note: One major topic to note is his comment regarding the New Orleans levees and Katrina. Listen and discuss below:
It's one thing to save lives in Haiti, and no matter what the right wing nut jobs say, we are doing just that. Soon enough it will be a done deal, and all the lives that can be saved will be saved. That's when the real catastrophe begins for us.
Eight million people (give or take) with no place to live, but then Haiti was really no place to live even before the earthquake.
Now the question that comes to mind is this. Can we rebuild Iraq, (infrastructure=money), and Afghanistan (infrastructure=money), and Haiti (infrastructure=money)? What damn money?, and what about the Brooklyn Bridge? Just let it fall into the East River after we spend every dime we have on Iraq, Afghanistan, and Haiti? I suppose so. You can bet your ass I won't drive across the Brooklyn Bridge, but then I don't have to. I live in South Florida. What me worry?
