James Bernazzani, the top dog of the New Orleans' FBI office, has been reassigned to the FBI’s national headquarters Friday but there is a chance he might not go.

The change occurred after Bernazzani discussed running for Mayor of New Orleans.

Bernazzani has been very high profiled and the “dynamic-duo” of Bernazzani and DA Jim Letten have cracked many cases in the New Orleans area which has received a reputation for public corruption.

The FBI cited a perception or appearance of a conflict of interest.

Bernazzani had made public announcements to local media regarding his possible interest in jumping into the political fray as Mayor.

The election for Mayor is 2010.  C. Ray Nagin is the current New Orleans Mayor.

Does he think New Orleans voters have evolved enough to elect a white, crime-fighting reformer as Mayor?? I'll believe that miracle when I see it.
