Mayor C. Ray Nagin departed today on an economic development trip to China. During the trip, Mayor Nagin will meet with four prospects interested in the possibility of locating their businesses in New Orleans.
Following this trip, Mayor Nagin will travel to Sydney, Australia, where he will be the keynote speaker for City Talk: 'Sydney & New Orleans', "the role of city government in adapting to climate change". Mayor Nagin also will give two other speeches in Sydney, focusing on the impact of climate change and New Orleans' efforts to create a more sustainable environment.
Mayor Nagin will return to New Orleans on June 15th.
Mayor Nagin did not attend the Codel to the Netherlands lead by US Senator Mary Landrieu (D-La.), however, one member of his administration did. On that study, there was much discussion about climate changes and "sustainable environements". New Orleans City Council President, Jackie Clarkson did attend the Codel.
The departure for Mayor Nagin comes at the beginning of hurricane season, however, by history, most hurricanes causing significant destruction to New Orleans have come during the latter months of the summer.
If I have to choose between our city being governed by Democrats or Communist Chinese, I'll go with the Reds as they have more respect for market forces, consumer choice and fiscal responsibility than the American Democratic Party is showing. Written by Kommisar Pavlov Fuchs
