How can I buy a FEMA trailer?Since Hurricane Katrina, that has probably been the number one question that Bayoubuzz has been asked. That question has been asked by people from Canada to Mexico and for reasons unknown. Why did they contact Bayoubuzz about this issue? The answer is simple.Approximately two years ago, we wrote about the possibility of FEMA trailers being sold. However, due to problems with some of the trailers which has resulted in lawsuits people can acquire some trailers but there are significant limitations. There cannot be any “habitation”.
When Bayoubuzz recently inquired about this issue with a FEMA spokesperson we were directed to the federal government GSA Auction website. On the front page, it is written, “Currently, GSA is not selling FEMA travel trailers or mobile homes for public use. We are however, selling FEMA scrap trailers. These units are intended to be purchased as scrap units only and are not intended for habitation.

I've met people who have bought these used trailers, they all say to "inspect before you buy." Written by kpf
