Automaker Chrysler LLC will shut down the entire company for two weeks this summer to help speed up costs savings, according to news reports which quote an internal memo to employees. According to the memo, Chief Executive Robert Nardelli told employees they will have to take vacation for the weeks of July 7 and July 14 "in order to create better alignment and efficiency across organizational lines and boost productivity."

The news is an example of the very sluggish economy that has penetrated the durable goods section, has led to major layoffs and has suggested a recession pending.

The worsening of the economy is also changing the strategies of the Presidential candidates.

Good Lord man! You sound paranoid and less than fully sane! The fact that I agree completely perhaps should bother me, but it does not. H-o-p-e-l-e-s-s ... "The people" are unwilling to stand up and live a life whereby they take risks to provide for themselves and their families. They want to empower the government to be "their Mommie and Da-Da" so "everything will be okay." They have created a monster and do not realize it. "Dumbed down" is a much more polite way of putting it then what comes to mind.

Too bad this country is too dumbed down to realize we are on the road to hell: Our dollar will soon be worthless (google economists John Williams or Paul Craig Roberts).Your savings are being diluted, and costs are NOT rising, your dollar just does not buy as much. For example, oil is not skyrocketing in euros. This is being done by design to usher in the amero. The North American Union is here ( 4th meeting is in NOLA on April 21, do you even know what the SPP is?) And when you do finally wake up, after being raped and pillaged, it will be too late. Martial law will be declared, and foreign trrops will enforce it. You can sit in jail with no lawyer and a secret trial and no one will know where you are. Or, it's off to the Halliburton built concentration camps in the US. Sounds bizarre does it not? Do some research, pleaseEven the assinine corporate owned mainstream media is starting to report on our brave new world: see San Francisco Chronicle article:http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/02/04/ED5OUPQJ7.DTL

And there you have it folks. One of the bastions of Reagonomics going to the wayside. Why? Because since that time, focus and clarity has been lost. May as well start learning how to tighten up the belts. And no Wendall C...... (U know who u is) Louisiana cannot, and will not be allowed to succeed from the Union, and no, Louisiana is not at the top of the totem pole just because it is at the mouth of the Mississippi.
