From GOP Clinton Got Impeachment; Ensign Gets Round Of Applause

June 23rd, 2009, 9:09 PM EDT

Just like his cheating colleague David Vitter of Louisiana, Nevada’s John Ensign was welcomed back into the senatorial fold with warm applause upon his return from announcing his infidelity.

Bob Corker of Tennessee was lauditory:

“I think he plans to be a very good senator from Nevada,” Corker said. “All I can say for sure is that it was very, very sincere, very heartfelt and very well received in our caucus. I just appreciate the way he was today, and I think everybody in our caucus does.”

John Cornyn of Texas was also beautifully forgiving:

“We all recognized what a painful experience this has been for not just his family, but for all those involved,” Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) said. “We appreciated him saying how sorry he was.”

Still, the best line was Corker’s:

“I don’t follow it blow by blow, obviously,” Corker said. “I’m not from Nevada.”

Did I misspeak? As far as my wife considering me wasting money by donating to politicians - she does. However she is understanding of a person's faults and quirks. Of course, that's the only kind of woman who would put up with a palooza like me, so thank Gawd fer dat yeah.

"but this is not the forum to discuss such (dancing, family, going to church, sex on acid, etc.)"....uh.... you're kidding me- right? This is kpf speaking?

kpf says, "Bayoubuzz doesn’t seem to have much on national affairs, foreign policy, etc., so there is not much to comment on beside the state budget, local elections and political sex scandals. "..... I'll agree there.

Politics doesn't hold my interest nearly as much as other ... "interests" do ... but this is not the forum to discuss such (dancing, family, going to church, sex on acid, etc.), so I discuss "politics." While politics means many things, taxing and spending is how all the good and necessary things are funded, taxing and spending defines the harmful impact (“misallocation of funds”) of the wasteful and unnecessary things government does. Bayoubuzz doesn’t seem to have much on national affairs, foreign policy, etc., so there is not much to comment on beside the state budget, local elections and political sex scandals. My point is the claim that Democratic politicians who have a gay sex ring operating out of their apartment is “horrible’ (according to Republicans) or Republicans who cheat on their wives with prostitutes is horrible (according to Democrats) is not only hypocritical bull$#it (since this is only a problem when “the other party” does these “horrible” things) but more importantly distracts from the issues.

KP-- see how long you can go without saying the word tax or spend...<g>.. nobody's talking about Tony Gentile's personal life....(I don't know a thing about his personal life.) .....Just informing you of what "he put out there; how he presented himself in the spotlight of last year's Congressional race." (most reading this blog don't even know who he is)... When somebody's been around the blocks a few times- paying thousands of bucks to throw their hats into the ring---and keep losing - not even showing on the radar.... doesn't THAT tell you something about the game they love to play, and losing doesn't matter? (Does your bride know you're throwing money away like this?....<ducking> ).... and as personal lives go--- Diaper Dave Vitter's sex scandal is all our shame.

So I see that Universal Healthcare means politicians and union workers will be exempt from having company paid health insurance being taxed as income. Nice to see we'll all be sacrificing to insure those who are uninsured ... well, some of us. It's BS like this that makes me occasionally pull the lever for a Republican. As far as wasting my vote, what I do (weirdo that I am) is - unless I specifically like a particular candidate (rare) or extremely dislike their opponent (happens quite often) I will vote "other than the two major parties" first, or "female candidate" second (a "protest against the establishment" is how I see this). Not a waste really as the odds of any ONE person's vote actually deciding any election in their lifetime is astronomical. What I will do is send money to a candidate, as that may actually have some influence on matters. Now if Vitter leads the charge and kills this very unfair measure (why should a union worker pulling down $60K per year not be taxed on his healthcare when a non-union worker making $40K would be taxed? Or - for that matter - why should we be taxed on company paid healthcare at all?) I may not vote for him but would consider sending him a generous campaign contribution. It's not about a politician's personal life (hypocritical, perverted, gay, coke-head, whatever) it is ALL about how they represent my interests - as for anything else in their lives, "Quite frankly my dear, I don't give a damn."

"pledged my vote to the Libertarian Party's candidate, Tony Gentile.".... Is that what Gentile is this year?......poor guy- Tony Gentile made Vinny Mendoza look like a winner,,,Gentile's a courteous and mellow kind of guy, but, my heart went out to him as he stumbled through public forums and tv debates... (I think he left on the short bus.).... Watawaste - but, kp- I'd rather see you throw your vote away than vote for the sleaze-bag.

Just because Senator Vitter has lied about his stand on his false family values is no reason to Vote For Tony or anyone else. Just because Vitter supports big spending except before election time is no reason to Vote Tony or anyone else. Please vote and re-elect Vitter , because it is better to have a man that has no problem lying about what he stands for, than risking a vote for someone who says they are honest. Please re-elect Vitter because Louisiana deserves the very best.

I'm no fan of Vitter, I just don't care about his - or Barney Frank's - or any other politician's sex lives, or anything they do in their private lives. What they do "to" and "for" or "against" us, that I care about. Vitter also has favored "affordable" prescription drugs; which means killing innovation that saves lives. So I don't know of any politician that I agree with on every stance, however I would like to see some checks on the spending planned by Obama, so a few more GOP members in congress - not less - is what I'd like to see. I prefer divided government, not either party having as much control as the Dems now do, as is evident in their record setting planned deficits. In any case, I've pledged my vote to the Libertarian Party's candidate, Tony Gentile. Doesn't matter really, Vitter will probably be reelected.

Vitter also voted for the huge farm subsidies and for ethanol subsidies, but we tax payers have plenty of money for those kinda of things.

Thank you. Vitter signed on the Ron Paul's "Audit the Fed" bill as a Senate co-sponsor. So, he does the right things fiscally. One will have to weigh that with his hypocrisy and diaper wearing. Let’s see … keep a perverted hypocrite who won’t raise my taxes, versus electing the Blessed Virgin Mary who wants to raise my taxes. Hmmmm … okay, I know who’ll I’ll vote for. That was easy…..

Thank you Mr Vitter for being man enough to expose the myth of family values. Thank you Mr Vitter for showing us all women are hookers and we all pay for sex in some form. You buy the wife a dinner, maybe a present or even if you just pay your local hooker, it is all the same. Please re-elect Senator David Vitter

You say family values are a myth. You say Vitter and his like are destroying that myth. So ... I guess we should thank them for showing us the truth. I'll go first: "Thank you Mr. Vitter for revealing the truth to us." Now, it's your turn.

Please re-elect Vitter so he can continue to fight for false family values. These Men should be applauded for proving that republicans do not care about false family values and that is all a lie. I know many of you received Vitters letter, asking for donations because family values are under attack. He just forgot to tell you that it is him and other republicans that are destroying the myth of family Values. Please re-elect Snator David Vitter.

If one can put partisan politics aside, Bill Clinton was a lawyer who lied under oath. With our non-existent sense of honor these days that means nothing ... but once long ago, it did.
