The U.S. Senate has overridden President Bush’s Veto of the Water Bill 79-13.  Earlier this week, the House also overrode the President’s veto.  All of the Louisiana delegation has urged that veto be overridden for various reasons including helping with the rebuild of the state including the impact due to Hurricane Katrina and Rita.

The override is the first in President Bush’s administration.    The legislation will now become law.

The hypocrisy of this grandson of a yankee Senator (Prescott Bush of Conn.)! He blows Trillions of dollars on imperial wars and then wants to cut a few million of the budget at Louisiana's expense - when we have not been fully compensated for the damage done by the federal government to us! Hey King George, how about back-paying the decades of mineral royalties that you and your predecessors stole from Louisiana? At the very least, please pay for the damage that the Interior Dept. and big oil & gas have wrought on our coastline!
