John Edwards, the former Democratic presidential candidate, finally confessed his affair last Friday. After months of lying about the issue, Edwards was confronted by too much evidence from the National Enquirer. He had to finally come clean with the public because the evidence of his affair was overwhelming.
Sadly, the National Enquirer has been the only publication to follow this story for the past year. Interestingly, the story has been ignored by the national mainstream media. The cover-up was a perfect example of the liberal media bias that is so prevalent in this country. If Edwards had been a GOP candidate for president, this story would have been major news months ago. Just look at what the New York Times did to John McCain earlier this year. The newspaper tried to manufacture a story about an alleged affair with a lobbyist. They had no evidence, but still ran a front page story hinting of the improper relationship. Of course McCain vigorously denied the story and eventually it was dropped because it was false.
In contrast, there were pictures of Edwards holding a child, visiting a mistress in a hotel and much more, yet the New York Times and other media outlets ignored the story. The reason is clear and it all has to do with media bias.
The only reason the Edwards affair is a story this morning is that former Democratic presidential candidate finally admitted his guilt. Today, his political career is in shambles. Even James Carville sees no political future for Edwards, saying that he would be lucky to garner 5% of the female vote in any future election. Not only did he have an affair, but he cheated on his wife while she was sick with cancer. This is even worse than the sins of Bill Clinton.
Hopefully, we can learn some valuable lessons from this incident. Of course politicians have lied and will continue to lie and they will continue to cheat on their wives as they have always done. However, voters need to expect more from our media. Fairness and even handed treatment of both political parties should be the rule rather than the exception.

I suppose I have to give the honors to Robert Desmarais Sullivan on 2/28/2008 that posted ””””””However, I find that most corporate and many individual media in the US today censor the news by failing to report significant stories.””””””” So I suppose that makes him the visionary on this subject....... So National Enquirer, or Hustler, it really doesn't matter who broke the news, the subject is news that is happening, or events, and a lot of the media looking down their noses at it, not reporting about it, and then coping some kind of an attitude when they get beat to the story............ And end up eating crow while they half heartidly try to beat a few more sensationalist farts out of it........ Yeah Bayou Buzz, thank you for taking it upon yourself what or what not it is that the readership should become aware of, and then browbeating the daylites out of any dissention on your opinions in the realm..................... "And unsaid was the sanctimonious observation presented by the Bayou Buzz as it looked ‘down’ its nose at a publication called the National Enquirer that is for the most part kindred in spirit and essence……….. I have to ask myself; “I wonder why the subliminal malice towards a ‘nationally distributed publication’ was singled out"
Uh, excuse me, but it was the LA Times publisher who instructed his bloggers not to report the story due to its SOURCE. The NYT, and Washington Post spokespeople made pretty much the same comments, - The National Enquirer is a Tabloid with questionable reporting practices - I paraphrase.
Whereas, an "elite, classy, respectable" periodical like say HUSTLER, published by that "fine-chap" Larry Flynt, is so reliable that his information is just TOO GOOD to have to verify, and, therefore, his simple announcement of possessing a Madam's phone list with a REPUBLICAN on it is good enough "LET's GO WITH IT!!!!!".
In both cases the information turned out to be accurate. However, the treatment of the information did reflect an obvious bias.

Oh well, in the spirit of dancing with certain word mongers and make up for some kind of glitch professed earlier, let me sort of repost a passing observation that was pertinent specific when originally presented…… “””””Sadly, the National Enquirer has been the only publication to follow this story for the past year.””””””””” So, my estimation on your print there Jeffy was sort of along the lines of “Yes, isn’t it sad”…… And unsaid was the sanctimonious observation presented by the Bayou Buzz as it looked ‘down’ its nose at a publication called the National Enquirer that is for the most part kindred in spirit and essence……….. I have to ask myself; “I wonder why the subliminal malice towards a ‘nationally distributed publication’ was singled out…….. Is it perhaps because no one on the Bayou Buzz staff had the cahonies to write about it? Oh I understand….. “It wasn’t a Louisiana or a Bayou Buzz issue, but now it is”…….. And I write that while I ponder along the lines of ‘how relevant is that act or acts the ex-politician ‘pursued’ in today’s real time terms?’ I look at it this way, ‘It is sort of obvious to me that he considered his wife to be not quite everything in life that was worthy of his primal or matrimonial commitment to……. End of observations on Edwards and his psyche from my point of view…… It’s between him and his wife now, end of story……. But the rest of the story??????? I think I enjoyed the post that encompassed the tangent of “ ‘self-serving phonies.’ ” and the subsequent postings along those lines………. Most enlightening, and reason to pique additional contemplations on their root composition……… I considered one earlier spew to be an example of why a post such as those could become advent and I don’t mind taking them a step further, even while under ‘threat’ of some kind of ‘spewculear retalitation’ with the nuance of some sort of ‘additional draconian siege implied or directed towards ‘myself?’……….. Self-serving phonies are seemingly everywhere,………. the media, the internet, in public office, in the position of civil stewardship, in our courts, etc., etc., etc…… Ehhh, perhaps that is one of the side traits that capitalism is constituted of………. Or perhaps they make up certain elements of Ego and greed, or angst…….. No problem, but to take that a step farther, I would consider this type of individual or apparatus to actually be symbiotic in nature….. A true self-serving phony has no allies while they manipulate and take,,,, because to pursue self-serving in its basic philosophy implies that no one else should benefit from it actions – inactions (or editorially absent address) or additional pursuits….. Hence the realization that for the most part they are a parasitic character that requires offal, or blood from a victim in order to satisfy its relationship with its prime host…….. So they are indeed in essence enjoying a symbiotic relationship with something else…… In other words, an agenda of selfless dissertation is proclaimed, but they really dance to the tunes of the puppet master so that they can make their daily bread………. And meanwhile they preach and advocate false doctrines to the unsuspecting, and when something else comes along and addresses their erroneous continence and defines it for what it truly is, well, then there begin the threats…… It is all so “Spanish Inquisition” in nature…. And the Galileo’s and the Martin Luther’s in life are ostracized as heretics as the parasites attempt to grind them underfoot and squash all presentations they may proclaim all because they wrote their understandings which are contradictory to the dogma of the ruling hierarchy or oligarchy while the remaining masses are maneuvered into the slaughter chute’s ‘state sanctioned’ action or inaction…….. But I speak in ellipsis, or vaguely so the omnipotent ‘twittermeisters’ don’t get their panties in a twist and send the mind police to my door………………………. Written by

True enough. Neither Democrats nor Republicans hold any monopoly on corruption or scandalous activity or on being phony self-serving types. Politicians of all stripes are out purely for their own interests. Nonetheless the business is all about schmoozing and collecting donations from the fat cats and big corporations because it takes big, big money to win and Republicans are typically really good at that routine (some Democrats, e.g. Bill Clinton, can do it, too, from time to time). The real little guys' interests usually get forgotten and that's why people don't vote, thus making our democracy into a sham.

The way I see it is, many liberal and conservative politicians are hypocrites - claiming to champion the {"little" or "working" man - take your pick} when in fact they are self-serving phonies. What I find most discouraging is when someone tries to use a phony from "the other side" to denigrate all {liberals or conservatives - again, take your pick} due to an opposition politician's revealed failings while ignoring the same in their own camp. Unless I have missed it, the Times-Picayune and nola.com have not printed a story on the Edwards affair. Maybe they just chose not to repeat the scant facts that have been posted on other news sites for days now. But since Edwards used NO as a backdrop for so much of his campaign rhetoric, I thought they would do something. I was looking forward to some spirited posts involving some of those liberals who buy Edwards' BS that his greedy ambulance chasing is some sort of social justice. Written by Liar Watcher

Stone brain, nobody has been censoring you or anyone else. We had a temporary glitch with the buzzbacks which has meant loss of a few buzzbacks including posts from people who might agree with positions taken by Bayoubuzz writers. However, that does not mean we will not adhere to rules and if they are broken in the future , we will have no other choice but to take action to prevent future glitches. As a technology person, I am sure you totally understand. I suggest you check out the other bullentin boards where you must sign and give personal information for identification purposes to post. If you continue to post abusive posts that are violative of the rules of the site, we will have to take appropriate action which means at the minimum banning you from the site. check out other sites and see if they would tolerate you.
