President George Bush is 61.
No. Those are not his poll positives. The numbers once were, but not now.
Now, he is mired in the twenties.
While he campaigned to be the “compassionate conservative”, many of his opponents throughout the world see him as being liberally hateful. Yes, even on his birthday.
He is the most misunderstood President in modern times.
Either a mistake in intelligence or a compulsion on his part involving the US in Iraq has forced him to appear hateful, sinful and evil in the minds of many who see him as the devil incarnate.
Hillary Clinton has basically called him blind. In a campaign stop in New Orleans this Friday on his birthday, she said that he was treating those still suffering from Katrina as the invisibles.
Those who see him as the kinder, gentler George would disagree on both points.
Now, he is approximately eighteen months away from being a former president.
He will be former George Bush II and like his father will be giving speeches, enjoying life and do all of the other stuff that former Presidents do--such as help relatives campaign for President.
Today on radio, he said the economy was good.
That is, if you have a good paying job.
Many do not, although many do, and those who do will appreciate his time as president that much more..
George W. Bush, at 61 will be a year older and presumably a year wiser next year on his birthday. While, he won’t make it, as President, to the infamous, “When I’m Sixty-Four”, his legacy will still be under definition. For years, he will be beloved and hated. That is the way all Presidents live out their birthdays; Even former ones.
