John McCain, Louisiana Bobby Jindal and The Missing Number

Written by: Stephen Sabludowsky

Buzz Right Back----E-Mail a Friend----Print Page

Does one, and one and one equal two?

Meaning--is Bobby Jindal still in the running for the coveted GOP VP slot regardless of his own statements?

Here’s the equation:

This weekend, CNN ran a feature focusing upon the importance of the Veep pick this year.  The election for President is very close and the Vice President pick could make a difference.  Jindal’s name was not mentioned during the show but James Carville said that the picks could be one of the people not mentioned.

On Sunday, Jindal was on Meet the Press and was one of the talk show talking heads discussing the campaigns.  He faced off against the person who is being mentioned as one of the top Obama possibilities, Tom Kaine.  The other Republicans representing McCain on Sunday were names who appear to be at the top of the list such as Mitt Romney.

Today, John McCain is coming to Louisiana.  His visit last time was purportedly cancelled due to a hurricane hitting the Texas Mexico border.

Most importantly, why is Jindal making these appearances on national television if he does not want the job or if McCain does not want his brand out nationally?  Why is he appearing with those top dogs who are being mentioned as VP candidates?  Why is McCain appearing in Louisiana right now?  Louisiana is not a state with a lot of electoral votes, and is probably not a swing state.

Why did the Louisiana Republican Party on Friday send out an email with the names of major Republican officials and candidates claiming their support of Bobby Jindal against Democratic attacks?   The GOP email was sent out around 5:00 pm and preceded Jindal’s announced Meet the Press appearance.  Why was that defense so important at this time?  The GOP press release said, “The national stage afforded Governor Jindal in recent months has allowed him to tell the nation what Louisianans already know – It’s a new day in Louisiana and Louisiana is open for business.”  That hopefully is true, but why is he being associated with McCain for President Sunday and probably today or tomorrow?

I know what Jindal has been saying.  I know that he has left “wiggle room” so that if he actually was asked to be on the ticket, he could say he did not lie.  He could say he just made a mistake a changed his mind and must follow a higher call.

The McCain campaign has told Bayoubuzz that the presumptive nominee is not making a speech when he arrives today but is just getting off the plane for a “to be determined” purpose.

So, forgive me for being curious, but, again, things just don’t add up.   Just maybe one of the persons James Carville said might be a mystery nominee could be the Louisiana Governor.   Let’s remember to whom Carville is married, her connections, and we can just imagine the pillow talk going on right now.

There is no one Republican candidate that has all positives and no negatives.  Mitt Romney is now accepted by the evangelicals but his own religion (Mormon) is still a negative politically.  National commentators report bad blood between the two.

I must admit that the appearances of Jindal, Romney and Governor Tim Pawlenty of Michigan on Sunday were like watching the “Olympics tryouts” for vice president.

Bobby Jindal is being pushed nationally by the McCain camp for some reason.  It could be the VP spot notwithstanding the governor’s denials.  Then, it could be that McCain is propping up his national personality and will make him the keynote speaker at the GOP convention.

Regardless, there is a big question mark at the end of this equation.  The magic number will arrive some time over the next few weeks.  Until we know the definitive, we can only legitimately question the motives, statements and itineraries of the players.

Forgot to add Piyush to the dissertation there Mattie..... Why wouldn't McCain want his presence? Well uhhhhhh, besides having the makings for a good water boy, Piyush really has no practical experience or exposure when it comes to realities... He was incubated in a rather sheltered or sterile environment........

Countries that have been acknowledged as having nuclear strike capabilities: Britain, China, France, India, Pakistan, Russia, United States, North Korea……….. Unacknowledged countries that have the high probability of possessing nuclear strike capabilities: Israel…… Countries actively engaged in seeking nuclear strike capabilities: Iran………. Abandoned nuclear strike capabilities: South Africa—Constructed but then voluntarily dismantled six uranium bombs. Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine — When Soviet Union broke up, these former states possessed nuclear warheads that they have since given up. I think it is important to recognize history for what it is…… In looking back, it is incredible that we delayed Pakistan, India, North Korea, and a vast majority of the Mid-East from obtaining nukes for as long as our foreign policy has allowed…. So far it appears that they have been collectively prohibited or denied this potential approximately 25 years longer than what was calculated to become advent when guestimates concerning timeframes for their eventual advent on the landscape were calculated in the late 70’s/early 80’s…….. One key component we have in our nuclear arsenal is the neutron bomb….. It is unknown if the U.S.S.R. has accomplished this technology yet, and it is supposed that China is pursuing it……. Iran for all practical purposes is the ‘wild card’ in the bunch…. It’s national psychology is that of a structured anti-social behavior disorder based upon extreme fanaticism…. In other words, if the regional mentality were not an acknowledged norm their disposition would be universally construed as psychotic in nature…. The sinister root of that observation is they are not so much interested in conquest as they are in simply annihilating by whatever means possible any doctrine or humanity contradictory to their existence or which is not encompassed within its primary matrix…. This is Tehran. The application of protocol, or trade agreements are of no concern to them…… Pakistan is a close second when geographical proximities to Iran are taken into account, and is considered to be the ‘red headed step child of India’.. Pakistan professes an ascribed status of an egalitarian democracy, and Islam is considered by dogma to be its faith democracy where politics and even fundamental law can be concerned… Socialism is the economy it aspires to, however when faced with the restraining nature of egalitarian it can only throw up its hands in compromise and exclaim “All Power to the People” in an attempt to purvey the illusion of social success and progress…. This position too has its political roots in the event of a future siege upon their neighbors to the west, it could be reasonably anticipated that China will come to their support……… Depending on the circumstances……. And China is also regarded as Pakistan’s defensive cloak as Pakistan does not wish to be consumed by Iran, it having its own religious leaders….. And at the same time, avoids extreme involvement with Russia. Pakistan allows the upper hierarchy to pursue or further some kind of hazy Marxist ideals or experiments in an attempt to remain in a position of wealth and power which is selfishly hoarded and shared amongst but the few…. Sanctioned under the umbrella of Dragon protection…….. China effectively is engaged in establishing dominance in each country from Vietnam to Burma…….. It should be recognized that China is practicing an occupation technique that parallels that of the ancient Greeks and Romans but differs in the fact that they do not grant Chinese citizenship, nor do they stage or post occupational forces…….. Nor do they truly extract a bold or blatant tax…… But their contributions, or extractions, or participations in each foreign country do appear to be based on percentages…… It is happy to promote, advocate, and participate in trade with foreign countries playing the part of symbiotic host………. However the higher end of profits from commerce are siphoned off to the top of Chinese entities with the actual host nation having economic returns limited to only the higher classes of their collective society’s….. So, how does Russia figure into this???? The above scenarios are but brief symptoms to the ailments that are being played out on an International scale….. Russia psychology is based upon the premise of ego…… It considers itself to be the ‘homeland’ of communist ideals and at the same time is not willing to be restricted to any potential opportunity to ‘vent’ against capitalism……. And out of the two, China/Russia, is the most likely to intervene, as in participate, on any foreign aggression ploys initiated by Iran……. Its official position on religion is that of Atheist, and this is a position that can be tolerated by the religious regime in place in Iran over that of ‘Christian’ because after all, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend”… And this odd type of thinking can be examined for its net worth when considering that Iraq and Iran had been involved in bloody conflict prior to Operation Desert Storm and upon the close of that brief conflict Saddam Hussein transferred the bulk of his air force to the country of Iran for ‘safekeeping’…. I would suppose the psychology involved in this move was either “He who fights and runs away lives to fight another day”, or “Why do today that which can be put off until tomorrow…… It is also interesting to note that during various times, and to various degrees, both Iran, and Iraq were more often than not simultaneously provided military hardware by both the United States and Russia, and to a lesser extent through back door approaches, China, and various ex-Russian states……… So, all in all it is basically prestige, commerce, raw materials, and military sales that are the prime motivation in the global scenario where the United States, Russia, and China compete complimented by energy concerns… That is the escalated threat threshold and the trump at the political bargaining table………. It should be understood that where as Russia would not mind seeing the United States wiped off the revenue generating stream slate, China has a vested interest, so this is an uncomfortable balance of power amongst the big three…….. China is making inroads into the European community, first eating away at previous colonial possessions being as Europe can no longer support their growing population and economies……… And China is accomplishing this expansionist ‘front’ with American dollars, and European dollars……… With the additional leveraging power of having a positive balance not only in principle, but with interest accounts as well………. Heed the tide well folks, it is about to swallow us up if care is not the fashion….

I agree about Pakistan. All the U.S. can do is sit back now. The question is whether this nation has learned its lessons. Remember, at first Bush claimed that he was against nation-building. Then he let Cheney and Chalabi lead him around as regards Iraq like he was a dog on a leash. The Ron Paul anti-foreign adventurism vote may surprise some as people are starting to think that enough is enough with the foolishness. McCain sure appears to be the honorable military man, experienced senator and so on but even so he's made more than enough baffling and nonsensical statements about foreign policy to be considered as downright scary.

While having Jindal as VP and a Landrieu as governor may excite some, Musharraf's departure as head of Pakistan - a member of the nuclear arms club - with the possibility of these weapons falling into the hands of the Taliban with this dictator gone has much scarier potential consequences then either that of a Democratic governor or the anti-Christ as VP (as scary as those two things are).

You are spot on there D.Q. And that in my opinion would equate to a miserable statistic both on the National and State Level.......... OMG!!!!!! It would probably be a sure sign that Piyush IS the anti-Christ if that happens!!!!!!

Jindal has been campaigning for Vice President ever since he won the governor's election last year. The lack of transparency in the Jindal administration so far is designed to hide this fact from the public. Jindal is using the governor's office primarily to satisfy his national political ambitions. The irony in all this for the Louisiana GOP is that if Jindal succeeds in becoming Vice President, Mitch Landrieu will become governor.

I am not a political analyst or journalist but I think the a better question would be why wouldn't John McCain want a young, intelligent, articulate, Republican as a surrogate on the talk shows. Your repeated questioning why Jindal is brought out to represent MCain attempts to paint it in a negative light. I may be wroing but there seems to be an agenda showing here.
