Joseph Biden Bad Pick For Obama

Written by: BayouBuzz Staff

“The suspense is terrible…I hope it will last”

-Oscar Wilde, though most commonly attributed to Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka

Obama & Company duped the curious and their supporters into turning over their cell phone numbers to be the first to know the identity of the Democratic candidate for vice-president only to have the anxiously anticipated bit of news go out on Saturday 3:42 AM (CST), hours before the formal announcement outside of Illinois’ Old State Capitol.  The timing of the announcement is a tad strange as the only people awake for the official text message were Paris Hilton and his throngs of supporters in Europe.

Or perhaps, as one blogger noted, it was a subtle shot at the Clintons for the infamous 3 AM advertisement that helped keep her nostrils above water late in the primary season.

Since Obama declared he had made up his mind as early as Thursday, why did he drag the announcement out until Saturday, misleading folks into thinking they would be getting an imminent exclusive?

Survey says: 1) To monopolize free media and 2) to collect additional data on his target audience without being honest about the intentions (see spyware).

Millions of Piggy Banks Suddenly Cried Out in Terror…

One thing the Democratic veep kabuki has done is further establish Obama as truly the candidate of “change”…that being the coin supporters shelled to Verizon Wireless and other cellular companies for their Joe Biden 3 AM “wake up call” and will be paying for all future “breaking news alerts/fundraising” text messages from the Obama campaign through November.  Suckers.

The Worst Veep Pick Since Tom Eagleton

Somewhere in the Texas hill country, LBJ is turning in his grave.  Though his remains might have been in motion long before this particular juncture in the 2008 Democratic campaign.

Let’s look at the electoral map.  George W. Bush won by 1 electoral vote in 2000.  In his “landslide” four years later, he was re-elected because Ohio went his way.  The trend shows that American politics has reverted to the polarized environment of the Gilded Age, when a single percentage point was the difference in three straight popular votes.

Maybe the Obama camp misinterpreted the memo about the election being decided by a hair, leading them to go out for hair plugs?

Biden was, in theory, to be a Cheney pick, someone who would provide party unity, stability and gravitas.  But Biden doesn’t do any of those things.

So what does Biden bring to the Democratic ticket?

1)      The tri-county state of Delaware.  That breaks down to one electoral vote per county.

2)      Depth on international affairs…and if you don’t believe me, just ask him.  Recall his plan to carve Iraq into three countries?  Iran loved it.

3)      1% of the Iowa 2008 caucuses, beating out political titans like Chris Dodd, Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich.

4)      The Wit and Wisdom of Neil Kinnock as Plagiarized by Joe Biden, Vol. 2

5)      A treasure trove of delicious quotes to sample.  While everyone else likes to harp on his 7-11 Indian and “clean black” remarks, my personal favorite is the great pride he took on Fox News in boasting about how Delaware was a slave state.

6)      Weak Pennsylvania roots having spent the first ten years of his life.

All that’s missing are electro-shock treatments.

For those of you who remember the political sit-com Benson, Biden is basically

the real-life version of Robert Guillaume’s fictional running mate Senator Leonard Tyler, a hapless, egomaniac prone for putting his foot in his mouth on racial matters.

Is Biden somehow supposed to bring the party together by virtue of having insulted Obama the most in the pre-Iowa debates?

Obama needed a genuine Hillary backer from a mid-sized state in play standing beside him, not someone who has washed out of two presidential campaigns before New Hampshire.  To think that Tim Kaine, Evan Bayh and Hillary Clinton were passed over for this guy.

Instead of playing his strength as THE agent of change, just as the masterful Clinton had done in 1992 by doubling-up his baby boomer play by picking Al Gore, Obama watered down his outsider cry by embracing a career politician who was bloviating in the Senate well before many Americans were born.

That Biden can somehow lock up the Keystone State because he potty-trained there is, to borrow a Clintonian quote, the biggest fairy tale.

To use an NFL draft analogy, Joe Biden may go down at the Ryan Leaf of vice-presidential picks.

A Brief for Whitey. Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America . Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to. This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these: First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduce d to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known. Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American. Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the '60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks. We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude? Barack talks about new 'ladders of opportunity' for blacks. Let him go to Altoona and Johnstown , and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for 'deserving' white kids. Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America ? Is it really white America 's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent ? Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself? As for racism, its ugli est manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time? Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse? We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena . And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing. Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago.

PoBoy, that is a given...... The racist undertones are also understood as well... And for the spew gallery who's blood pressure is about to rise and their eyeballs bulge out while reading this post, here is the challenge....... Take a stroll down Lennox Ave. in Harlem, New York around 2 a.m...... And see how far you get.... I used to do it all the time in my younger days, of course I had a Colt 45 in my back pocket.... And no, it wasn't of the malt liquor variety (heh-heh).... The same conditions used to hold true on Caffin Ave. in the 9th Ward of New Orleans as well...... and on to Arabi,,, yuck!!!! For almost 4 decades now we have been dancing to the propaganda dream tune....... And if Kofi Annan were eligable, he would be on the Democratic ticket instead of Obama.... But there is always the future, and the way our government is going, this may become a stark reality........ Racism? no, it is common sense...... A sane person does not invite a jackal into its home......

What's sad is your refusal to see and understand the fact that most blacks are voting on skin color alone. Period. Open your eyes.

On this day in history, in 1667 the earliest recorded hurricane in the U.S. happened, it was in Jamestown Virginia…… and the first hydrogen balloon flight (unmanned) reached an altitude of 900 meters was made on this day in 1783… on this day in 1881 a hurricane hit Florida & the Carolinas…. Around 700 people died…… On August 27th, 1939 Erich Warsitz makes the 1st jet-propelled flight while piloting a Heinkel He-178……… on this day in 1950 the 1st transmission of a TV program from continental Europe is shown on the BBC…….. On this day in 1955, the Guinness Book of world’s records was 1st published…. On this day in 1958 Russia launches Sputnik #3 with 2 dogs on board….. Don’t think they were safely retrieved, I think they kept going.. or not, if not, I imagine they were probably hot dogs when they were finished…. Their names weren’t Goofy and Pluto though, and America did finally manage to get its first satellite into space a few months earlier in Jan of 1958, it weighed 31 lbs.….. Wikepedia puts the Sputnik 3 launch date as May 15, 1958… ehhh, who to trust for information anymore???? On this date in 1962 Mariner 2 was launched, and is the first space probe to fly past Venus….. Of course on this day there were nuclear tests conducted by the U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R….. they happened in 1957, and 1958, and 1962, 1981, 1983, 1984.... That was a lot of nuclear testing on this day……. And on this day in 1966 race riots broke out in Waukegan Illinois…. So on this day in 1967 Naomi Sims was put on the cover of “the Fashion of the Times” magazine…… She was the 1st black model to ever appear on the cover of a US magazine…. I am sure the honest store owners and business men that were burned out, looted, or vandalized by the rioters the year before felt ‘compensated’ for after that magnanimous act……. And on this day in 1976…… A transsexual named Renee Richards was barred from competing in the U.S. Tennis Open…. I guess it had something to do with having an uneven advantage or something….. Don’t really know…

Poboy1, you know what's really sad? You don't even realize how racist you are - just read this sentence: "Even successful blacks are supporting Obama en mass (sic)." You just don't get it - you're absolutely clueless. Kerry, you and I agree that the system's broken, and that the two major parties "suck *ss" in the "South Park" parlance, but I think we just have different ideas about what the solution should be for either the long- or short-term. I think the Democrats are by far the lesser of two evils; you don't share my belief. TW

I would readily vote for Condi Rice, Walter Williams or Thomas Sowell before I would vote for Hillary, Bill or Biden. Only stupid people would vote for a candidate due to his or her race. As an impartial observer I can state that "stupidity" and "idiocy" are not exclusive to either party. BTW, the "Ron Paul" thing was about people taking back their government by electing those who will follow the Constitution instead of the "same old - same old" bozos from EITHER of our two "opposition" parties who are beholden to "Big Money." Basically those who support Ron Paul are certain that those who support either party - thinking they are "different" - are being fooled into believing the parties are different by the moneyed interests that control both parties. Of course we are considered "kooks" - that is reinforced by the media which is owned by the same interests that own our politicians. In any case I seriously doubt there will be a significant change in our governence as the country is still split 50/50 between left/right. We can be thankful that our people take election losses without resorting to violence as plagues many nations of this planet.

What a pathetic pizz ass statement. It's all happening because whites won't vote for a black man? What about all the white support Obama has from across the country? No credit for them? What about the fact that 95% or more of blacks will be voting for Obama without as much as a look see at McCain. Even successful blacks are supporting Obama en mass. Most blacks will tell you they are voting for Obama and can't tell you what the major issues are and can't tell you a thing about McCain. "Change" is all they will say. Yes you are right ,there are plenty of idiots to go around. If you watched anything other than CNN and MSNBC you would know this. Most Americans are simply wary of the "change" Obama promises. This is why he will lose in November. What does it say about a candidate who is now depending on a rival, whom he didn't think enough of to pick as his running mate and whom at least half of America despises, to "unify" what support he has. Tells you a lot, and I'm not talking about how the folks in WV will vote.

The guy's black; that alone is sufficient explanation for why he's not running away with it. There are plenty of yahoos all over this country who would not vote for a white guy - some of them (from WV, where Hillary handily won the Democratic primary) were stupid enough to admit it on national television. Look, I've been wrong before, and it may be that the idiots prevail just like they managed to do in the last two elections, but I don't think that's going to be the case this time. TW

If the country were in such bad shape under the GOP as you say, Obama would be running away with this thing. Instead he is depending on Clinton to "unify" and strengthen what support he has.He is losing ground and the Dems know it. Polls say he has dropped 2 percentage points since the start of the convention. Campaign strategy is what it is. McCain will distance himself from Bush just like Obama has distanced himself from Wright/Ayers/Resco, et all. It was obvious last night that Michelle Obama has been given the "heads up" reality talk from the power people in the DNC. "Redefined" is now the mantra to sell Obama to the American people. It ain't working.

Wishful thinking, poboy1, wishful thinking. You WISH George W. Bush were old news - his shadow hangs over every aspect of this election. Let's see how much prime time coverage he gets during the GOP convention - McSame would probably rather chew his arm off "coyote style" than have more photo ops of him hugging the worst President in history. This election is about whether we want to continue with four more years of failed GOP policies - the ones that have us mired in war, debt, and international disgrace. The politics of patronage and hiring people based solely on ideology, not qualifications (see Justice Department, rebuilding of Iraq). The only folks who are still parroting the absolutely inconsequential Jeremiah Wright tripe are those fundamentalist sheep who sit around listening to that fat junkie Limbaugh, or that foolish self-satisfied pr*ck Hannity, or those who lap up the absolute drivel written by that pseudo-intellectual putz Brooks. Even many conservatives are put off by the Bush legacy - what do you think the whole "Ron Paul" phenomenon was about? TW

Tee Dub, sorry ace, you are mired in "Bush Hate" and have a bad case of "head up your azz" syndrome. It ain't about Bush anymore. Get over 2000 for Christ sake and look at the big picture NOW. The "bet" remark was figurative only. I'm not a betting man. Especially on politics.

I'll take that bet - you conservative yahoos are so out-of-touch with reality that it would be kind of cute, had one of your own not f&^%*@ up the country so badly. You know, McCain probably will win many Southern states, but that won't give him the Presidency. TW

Biden will do nothing to boost Obama in the South where he is hopelessley behind.Biden is an old school liberal and can hardly be representative of "change".Obama has lost ground in so called swing states like Florida,Ohio, and Michigan. He has lost some of his lead in New York.Blue collar voters in Pennsylvania and West Virginia have distanced themselves from Obama after his stupid remarks during the campaign.Millions simply have not, and will not, forget about Jerimah Wright and his anti-American rants. Nor will they forget Obama's 20 year association with this nut case. Hillary's pathetic attempt to "unify" the party is laughable; The tension between Obama and the Clintons is outwardly visible to even the most casual political observer. Many Clinton supporters have switched to McCain. Bill Clinton was "ordered" by the DNC to give a speech on foreign policy when, once again,he wanted to talk about himself.( A huge reason why Obama has no use for the Clintons.)Nancy Pelosi is trying to redefine the Catholic Church's position on abortion to fit what she believes.Pelosi had to be reminded that natural gas is a fossil fuel. The Democrats are in disarray and not even a fawning liberal newsmedia, which openly admits to being in the tank for Obama, can save them. Winner? I don't think so. McCain is the next president. Anybody want to bet on this?

Perhaps the V.P. running mate is over-rated by the media. Nevertheless Biden can be a verbal loose cannon, so Obama did have better candidates to choose from for his running mate. I still think "Obama-Biden" sounds wonderful compared to having a "Clinton" anywhere in that mix.

I don't think you have the interests of the Democratic Party at heart, though, do you Mike? I laughed at a couple of your lines on Biden (the Delaware counties and the plagiarism ones were really funny), but he's not nearly as bad as you make him out to be. I'm just glad Hillary didn't get the nod, and I think the ticket's a winner - almost certainly not here in Louisiana, but in the nation as a whole - Bush sank the U.S.S. Republican, plain and simple.
