After two national media appearances and a personal visit with GOP nominee John McCain, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is back on the short list of candidates for the Republican vice presidential selection.
Jindal made the most of his short interview on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno by touting Louisiana and the ethics reforms that were passed earlier in the year. When Leno asked about the possibility of being selected as McCain’s running mate, Jindal did not reject the notion but stressed his love for his current job. It seems quite clear that if asked, Jindal would accept, as would almost all politicians. Later on that week, Jindal spoke at the National Press Club, an honor reserved for few if any prospective vice presidential nominees.
According to national columnist and Fox News commentator Bill Kristol, numerous McCain staffers are touting Bobby Jindal as a good fit for the GOP ticket. If selected as the vice presidential nominee, Jindal would provide regional, ethnic, age and philosophical balance for McCain. The drawbacks are that Jindal is very young, at only 36 years old, and has only been in the Governor’s office for only a few months. He also hails from a solid McCain state and does not help the Republican ticket win electoral votes. However, selecting Jindal would thrill Republican conservatives, who distrust the maverick McCain. A Jindal selection would also please influential conservative commentators such as Rush Limbaugh, who have publicly recommended that McCain choose the Louisiana Governor for the Republican ticket.
Republicans in Louisiana are actively resisting any possibility of a Jindal nomination because if Jindal is elected as Vice President, Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu, a staunch Democrat, will be able to fulfill Jindal’s unexpired term and serve at least three years as Governor.
Odd how the ommission of a word or two can change the meaning of a sentence.... Louisiana offshore territorial waters (The limit of Louisiana's marine jurisdiction) are 3 miles from the coast of Louisiana. After that it is Federal waters.... In other words, Louisiana has no Navy, and no legal jurisdiction to impose, or enforce laws, or taxes beyond 3 miles from its coastline. The oil and gas reserves laying in the Federal waters off Louisiana's coast are the 'special' oil and gas royalties from mineral resources (oil and gas) that Louisiana and Louisiana alone is being 'given' over the needs of other states that are provided for under Federal laws as well.... Here in America we are descended in blood and in spirit from revolutionists and rebels -- men and women who dare to dissent from accepted doctrine. As their heirs, may we never confuse honest dissent with disloyal subversion.

But I do like 'Bobby', he is just a little on the misguided side of things. I suppose that comes from being inexperienced or 'sheltered' in life. Written by Ahhh,,,, such is life.......................

The formal powers and role of the vice president are limited by the Constitution to becoming President in the event of the death or resignation of the President and acting as the presiding officer of the U.S. Senate. As President of the Senate, the Vice President has two primary duties: to cast a vote in the event of a Senate deadlock and to preside over and certify the official vote count of the U.S. Electoral College… The Vice President also on occasions serves as an ‘advisor’ to the President of the United States… John Nance Garner, who served as vice president from 1933 to 1941 under President Franklin Roosevelt, famously remarked that the vice presidency wasn't worth "a warm bucket of piss," But then again, if it is image enhancement for a political career, I should imagine that Piyush is chomping at the bit….. But what is his performance record in reality? Well, there was H.R. 4761. That was pretty much just a ‘toe-dipping’ in the pond effect, sort of a trial by error measure to see how deep it could be I suppose…. And then there was H.R. 6111………. December, 2006…. On the surface it seemed to have the subject of Medicare and health care at heart….. Laying submerged below the water was Offshore Oil and Gas Royalties….. In Federal waters…. Somehow all of the proceeds of the oil and gas royalties in federal offshore waters are going to be given to Louisiana, and Louisiana alone to a very high degree… It could be said by some that Louisiana is in more dire needs of those funds than anyone else, but then again I would suppose that tornado victims in other states would have a different view on the subject. The rest of the States can forget portions of those revenues, which could have helped pay for Medicare and Healthcare related costs, but instead, those additional costs are to be born by the other 49 States as well. So…. Analogy,,,, Double dipping……… And while this slight of hand was going on Jindals actions as a Congressional Representative included taking actions that would allow him to abandon the post and duties he swore to uphold that he was elected to so that he could run for Governor of Louisiana in pursuit of ‘Image”. And Piyush ‘Bobby’ Jindals 100 + day as governor of Louisiana track record: Ethics reform? -0-…… Pretty much all he managed to get done on that issue was it is now forbidden for anyone to give state legislatures ‘Hannah Montanah’ concert tickets or football tickets ‘free of charge’. period………. Public dislosure? Nothing on that yet either. Couldn’t even impose a $50.00 limit on ‘free lunches’ for legislatures….. And of course there was his ‘stint’ as Secretary of DHH in Louisiana under Governor Mike Foster….. "During those years and the year immediately following his leaving the department, Louisiana's nationwide health ranking fell from 48th to 50th". And it is interesting to note that there are some rather generous offers of aid for the state of Louisiana and seemingly a substantial probability of tax relief/cost relief posted on page 12 of www.strongconcrete.com that has not been acted upon….. That is the fact, or those are the facts of the matter….. Running mate for McCain? Sounds like 3 a.m. “heart attack” material to me, but Piyush has such a ‘likable’ personality……………………………. Little Bobby……………. So if it is ‘likable’ personalities people crave for leadership, might I perhaps suggest Henry Cho? I have seen him on numerous occasions, and even better than Bobby, he is unheard of, and has NO RECORD to resort to when trying to assess productivity or positive accomplishments…. And that is a positive plus, without all the excess baggage and unnecessary tapestries of inept fiduciary capacity…… Written by ...Give me a "B"!!!!!! Give me an "O"!!!!!!!!.....

There are only two basic reasons why Dim's would support (behind the scene) Governor Jindal running with McCain. It would make it easier to beat McCain and it would destroy the potential (and likely) Presidential candidacy of Gov. Jindal.
The two basic reasons Republicans support Governor Jindal running with McCain is selfish stupidity (Kristol) and simple stupidity (those recommending "swallowing the poison pill" SB87)".
As I have said all along, those that continue to stir this issue are no friend of Governor Jindal, and they are certainly no friend to Louisiana. Written by 4unionparish

Moonie, You obviously didn't want Jindal to be Governor. Would you rather him finish his governor term in spite of your opposition, or move on to something else? Written by
