Louisiana Jindal To Favor Veto Override SCHIP Legislation

One of the big questions that many has been asking is what will Bobby Jindal do regarding President Bush’s veto of the SCHIP legislation.  Jindal, it would seem would be in a somewhat precarious position since all of his fellow Republican Congressmen have stated that they would not override the veto.  The House of Representatives needs approximately 20 votes to override the veto.

Jindal has been quoted in by the Shreveport Times that he will vote on the override legislation against President Bush.

Some feel might feel that this vote is purely political to help offset the criticism of the DHH commercials that he lacks compassion.  Jindal, however, has young children.  Obviously, his children would not qualify for the program.

Possibly this issue will be addressed in more detail during the debate in Shreveport Thursday night so voters will know the reasons for his decision.

If the House does get the votes, the override would likely be possible since the bi-partisan measure appears to have the support in the US Senate.

It seems that Jindal will be able to make a safe vote while enough Repubs vote against the override. Of course, everything is going to change on Jan 20, 2009, when Hillary will not be vetoing any universal health coverage bills coming out of the Demo controlled legislatures.

Sunshine, dear, that is exactly what we were trying to point out. He is playing his game of politics as usual. From what we see the vote on the veto would be on October 18th and is that not the date of the last of the so called debates. Not all of us are fools being taken by the consummate politician, Pi.

PEOPLE!!! JINDAL VOTED AGAINST SCHIP IN AUGUST AND MISSED THE VOTE 2 WEEKS AGO!!! WHY WON'T ANY LEGITIMATE NEWSOURCE DO 10 MINUTES OF RESEARCH AND FIND THIS OUT AND REPORT IT??? JINDAL MAKES A STATEMENT THAT IS IN CLEAR OPPOSITION TO HIS PREVIOUS ACTIONS AND NO ONE CALLS HIM ON IT. IS THIS WHAT EN ELECTION IS SUPPOSED TO BE??? LETTING ONE SIDE COMPLETELY DOMINATE THE NEWS??? COME ON STEVE, REPORT ALL THE PERTINENT FACTS!!

Maxwell, dear, are you being a tad bit facetious.

He'll be on the floor... this issue is a vote getter for him... no more, no less. If he wasn't running for office, he'd be voting against the veto override.

Will he be on the floor of the House of Representatives on October 18th when the roll call is taken on overriding the veto? That, dears, is the answer. To say what people what to hear and not to take the necessary action makes all the difference in the world.
