McCain, Obama, Palin, Ayers Rhetoric and Alaska Troopergate

Written by: BayouBuzz Staff

Buzz Right Back----E-Mail a Friend----Print Page

Is John McCain’s campaign spinning out of control?

On the one hand, he attempted on Friday to calm the anger he helped generate against Barack Obama, but, he refused to curtail his commercials against the Democrats links with William Ayers.

Then, his vice president pick gets hit with a violation that some suggest show that she is vindictive in a matter called Alaska troopergate.

Palin and her family were cited by an independent body as abusing her power as Governor to get rid of a state trooper who refused to fire her estranged brother-in-law.

Some independents are concerned that Palin displays the same type of vindictiveness that they blame President Bush when the President drummed up the war beats against Saddam Hussein who embarrassed Bush’s father.  Palin, in defense has denied any wrong doing and has seized on language in the report that was released on Friday that she had to constitutional power to act the way she did.  She has not been charged of any crime.

The inconsistency of McCain, his selection of Palin and her own public relations problems come at a time when most pundits feel that McCain has an uphill battle against his opponent Barack Obama.

At a rally on Saturday, Obama acknowledged McCain for reducing the rhetoric but his McCain’s campaign continued to attack Obama on his policies such as raising taxes.

While national polls indicate that McCain is not catching up with Obama, with less than one month left, anything can occur in the Presidential election that has very high stakes including which party controls Congress.

Enough of the shooting his stepson with a taser....... I listened to the account and I believe what was explained.... The kid was curious about tasers, you know kids, gotta see if they really can fly their bicycle across the ditch or not and all that... Anyways Palin's brother in-law dialed it down to its lowest level, and gave the kid a zap after the kid kept it up wanting to know, now the kid knows... Shooting a moose? Well, that is sort of like bagging a gator at night, lots of folks have done it, or coons, or whatever, it's only a big deal if you get caught....... And that is why there are laws against doing that, so the critters don't go extinct.. Meat is very tasty, don't know what a mooseburger tastes like, but I hope he skinned it out and put it in the freezer and didn't just take it down for the fun of it..... DWI? Well, that sort of starts to get closer to the point.... Not a very good example of a trooper giving tickets and all when he is out doing the same thing now is it? So Gov. Palin figured he was bad for the State, wanted him removed, and the rest is now history....... I would want a Governor that if it had personal knowledge that its constituence were being done wrong would step up to the plate and try to make things better for all... That is what leadership is all about...... Looking out for your fellow man, trying not to do the wrong things, trying to make good things happen, doing your job.......

Palin is clearly innocent. If she really wanted the state trooper to get fired he wouldn't be in business still. Besides the fact this trooper has 2 DWI's, illegally shot a moose, shot his stepson with a tazer, and threatened Gov. Palin's father would never make anyone want to fire him, right?

Here is the one and only consideration.................. I have written it before, it is presented again for the lame or the dillusional thinkers out there to consider, yet one more time................................ The real question for folks across the land is this; "Do you want the Democrat party in control of BOTH houses AND the presidency of the United States of America?"....... Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.... Too much power in one parties control is a very, very, very, dangerous thing...... I don't care about Obama's cababilities, or his lack thereof, I only know that this candidate is absolute poison..........................

I went to Obama's site. Like most liberals he is against the disparity in sentencing for crack cocaine vs. regular (unleaded?) cocaine. I am sure he does not believe that the answer to our crime problem is "longer prison sentences." YET (!) he is FOR increasing "Hate Crime" laws (?!). This truly astounds me - the complete lack of logic at play here. What exactly is "Hate Crime " legislation? Well... it is BOTH "longer sentences" and "disparity in sentences." HEY... wait a minute... I thought that "longer sentences" was not the answer and that "disparity in sentences" was a bad thing. Hmmmmmmmmm

Gotitright, dear, sorry that you think our postings are garbage. However, one learns from the past and uses that in making decisions here and now. The past shows that polls are not necessarily right and also the records and standards of individuals seeking public office and those that support them. I dare say that recently we have seen many leaders brought to their knees by their past and many are worried this election. Of the two running for President only one has really shown what he is made of and frankly, dear, it is not garbage. In fact the only thing coming from Barack is a trite call for change. Perhaps he should change also and hopefully for the better. His track record is very little to say the least. Now get back to your garbage reading because you know you are intrigued.

It is sort of interesting that each citizen in the State of (correction) Alaska receives around $2,000.00 annually from the State of Alaska....... But then again, I suppose with the offshore oil and gas royalties we are going to be getting in Federal waters, perhaps $2,000.00 per citizen was Alaska's share, but now it is going to be Louisiana's share, that is unless they sell them off for 50 cents on the dollar because credit is tight, the reserve is low, etc., etc., etc....

Not to worry folks, McCain will be elected....... And as for this "troopergate" thing, it is a joke..... Not nearly as big as ACORN, but still, they are sort of similar in an abstract nature……… Basically the Governor of the State of Alaska had a personal understanding of one of the State of Alaska's law enforcement 'protectors' and decided that this person was NOT what she wanted out on the roads 'policing' the general public and enforcing the State's laws... So, she told the director of public safety to remove this undesirable faction from duty, and from the State's tax expenditure...... The director of public safety refused to obey a direct and lawful order given by the duly elected Governor of the State of Alaska, who also happens to be the Commander in Chief of the Alaska National Guard as well, so, he was fired.... Simple as that...... And she has no apologies, and she owes no apologies..... In looking at the numbers that voted her into office in Alaska, she had 18% of Alaska’s population vote her into office…. In looking at Bobby Jindal, 16% of Louisiana’s population voted him into office……. Alaska has about 35 citizens per state employee, and Louisiana has about 45 citizens per state employee….. Alaska has about 35 citizens per federal employee and annuitant in the state, and Louisiana has about 15 citizens per federal employee and annuitant in the state….. It is sort of interesting that each citizen in the State of Louisiana receives around $2,000.00 annually from the State of Alaska………… I think Sarah Palin showed true leadership qualities and carefully weighs what is good for her constituency there….. I think she understands what works, and what doesn’t work, and what is best for all, and she didn’t let anything personal get in the way….. And she didn’t let someone else tell her what to do… She based her actions on what she personally knew…… I would say that makes her pretty smart, and she isn’t even a Rhode’s Scholar…. Pity that Bobby………………………. I would wonder how many state employees and/or there next of kin interfere with common sense and practicality down here in Louisiana………….

RhettsWife must be a frustrated individual that rants and raves about insignificant and radical say nothings relative to the presidental campaign. She ?? states, "look at the record, look at the record" (most voters are interested in the future not the past but I'm sure the records referred to are unbiased ???); she obviously has an extreme hatred for the Clintons which is o.k., but last time I heard they weren't running for office so three strikes on that one; she mentions the Truman "upset" of Dewey way back when (was she watching Fox tv 24 hours a day then??) Look, we all want the best people to run our country but venom spewage like we see on behalf of some of the extremests on both sides is not a healthy position, in fact it's a dangerous one, for us and our country. This forum is for meaningful debate; too bad the garbage infiltration interferes.

Obama will "provide" health insurance to all! For a price he will. I have two nephews and a son in the Army, one in Iraq the other two recently returned. All three what to come home victors and not Frenchmen. Obama wants to bring them home regardless of the consequences. Obama is a modern day Huey Long, a populist with hard left leanings (more than Long).

As of right now, Real Clear Politics has Virginia in the "leaning Democrat" column with the usual swing states Florida, Ohio, Missouri along with even Indiana, North Carolina and West Virginia in the toss-up column. If the current poll is valid through election day then it's over and Obama has won, albeit by a fairly narrow margin, still. For McCain to win, he'd have to turn things around in some state that's now showing to be leaning Democrat and pretty much sweep the swing states. While of course that's still mathematically possible it's probably just as possible that Obama could win in a landslide. Also, prospects are for the Democrats picking up a fair number of seats in Congress. The pendulum went one way back in 1980. That was a watershed year. This year may well be another. No more Reaganonomics. No more Reagan Revolution. These people are crying about how liberal Obama is, but let's be fair. The right wing has had their chance to govern and be in power all these years. What does this country have to show for it? What does this country have to show for nearly 8 years of the Bush regime and right wing GOP rule (and the majority of that with GOP control of Congress)? Are you better off today than 8 years ago? Is the middle class of the country better off?

"What else will Obama do for me?" He'll bring my nephew home- a fighter pilot in the Navy.. And, my neighbor's son overseas-- and his best friend. That's what President Obama will do for me.

Obama can do nothing but talk. Sixty years ago the opinion was that Truman would lose to Dewey. Democrat overcoming the Republican candidate is what happened. 60 years later the opposite could occur with the Republican overcoming the Democratic frontleader. Heck many of the same issues were present then. Just a change in parties. Send Obama back to Senate to represent the people who elected him from Illinois and put McCain where he belongs - in the White House. Yes, even with Palin at his side. The dirt will fly, dears, the dirt will fly.

The choice in November will be straightforward: do you want the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate? do you want someone who does not believe in the basic goodness of America (based on his support of terrorist Ayers, membership in his hate-filled church in Chicago, his ties to ACORN, his wife's comments on only being proud of America if we elect her husband; his comments about being a "citizen of the world")? Obama is dangerous. To America, to Western democracies, to Israel. He would raise taxes and make the people even more dependent on the government. He would subordinate the interests of the U.S. to the corrupt officials of the United Nations. Middle East Islamists - like Hamas - would rejoice. It is almost beyond belief that someone so radical could be so close to being the president of America. But America will wakeup, just in time!

RW dear, and for those keeping score at home, the McCain campaign has now referenced the senator's P.O.W. background in response to questions about McCain's marital infidelities; his healthcare plan; his opinion of Pittsburgh; his distaste for earmarks; and his taste in music. I do not feel safe with this guy as a potential president. The fact he was a POW 35 years ago will not pay the bills, put food on the table, secure America's financial future. Thank goodness Obama is cleaning his clock.

"We ask about every citizen in this nation - what will Obama promise to you?" For starters, Rhett's Wife, President Obama will provide health insurance for our children--college graduates, and working high school graduates- who no longer fall under their parents' company policy.. and, who are not working for big companies themselves.. That's what Obama will do for me.-- right up front.

We apologize for our mistake. We have just read that the Clintons will be campaigning for Barack Obama in Pennsylvania. Well he has the liar (Hillary and Bill) and hooker lover (Bill) votes at this time.

Sid, dear, we will agree with you. James, we will not ask for Palin to step down. We like Hutchinson also. However, a change at this time is not essential. What we are seeing is the Democratic Party trying to establish an October event to overshadow the cloud that hangs over the Obama family. As far as we are concerned Barack Obama will use anything and anybody (including the Ayers and the preacher) when it is convenient but drop them when it is not. John, it may be convenient according to some to drop Palin but it is not the right thing to do. Sid, you ask about the feminist. We ask about every citizen in this nation - what will Obama promise to you and how many of you who have little have paid for his campaign? He has been out for himself from the beginning. Moving up the ladder as quickly as he can and doing very little for his constituents. Look at the record, look at the record. Then look at the record of John McCain. There is a difference, dears, and it is apparent. It is time to chose the best and that is McCain. Now drop Barack like a hot potato and hit a homerun for McCain. Now what is going to happen during the last month of October. Blame both political parties for the financial situation. Blame them both for the debacle across the oceans. However, blame yourselves if you vote for Obama and not for McCain. By the way has Hillary been doing that much campaigning for Barack? Is the news media hiding her appearances? HMMMMMM.

And this article was brought to you by the Obama for President campaign. First of all troopergate is not about firing a trooper who refused to fire her ex-brother in law. She reassigned the individual for legit reasons, he resigned. The committee found she broke no laws. the ex brother in law who threatened her Dad and tasered the kid is still a trooper. Dims are grasping for straws. Obama's ties to terrorists, crazy preachers, shady characters are gloosed over and we are expected to believe Troopergate is the most earth shattering news on Earth? Palin is scrutinized and Obama gets another free pass. Seems to me that feminists and the press throughout the land would be raising hell over this bias, but no, we get troopergate. Much ado about nothing at all.

The McCain campaign needs to view the results of the Legislative Council's report as an opportunity to request that Palin step down from her VP nomination. The campaign needs to choose a better candidate, such as Kay Bailey Hutchinson from Texas. Furthermore, the McCain campaign needs to end any negative attack ads against Obama and begin to focus on fundamental economic issues between the two. The entirety of the McCain campaign should be to demonstrate how a McCain vision can bring the economy to stability, how McCain is working with the White House and congress to implement the recent rescue plan and bring the country out of the clutches of an impending recession. In the next few weeks, the global recapitalization and the re-infusion of cash from recent sellouts are going to show a market recovery. McCain can capitalize on the good news, his ability to be flexible, and his ability to make rash but ultimately correct decisions. His campaign can not afford to continue on its current course. Keeping Palin and the negative attack ads against Obama are going to whittle his support to its smallest hard-core base. A grand change of strategy consistent with his image as a "maverick" can turn his campaign around.
