The Nobel Peace prize has now become a US political football and not a Heisman trophy.
Michael Steel, the Chairman of the Republican National Committee on Friday said it was "unfortunate" that President Barack Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize, saying he has celebrity status but no "real achievements."
"The real question Americans are asking is, 'What has President Obama actually accomplished?'" Steele said in a statement.
"It is unfortunate that the president's star power has outshined tireless advocates who have made real achievements working towards peace and human rights," Steele said.
"One thing is certain -- President Obama won't be receiving any awards from Americans for job creation, fiscal responsibility, or backing up rhetoric with concrete action."
However, a top Democratic National Committee official, Brad Woodhouse reacted responded by stating:
"The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists - the Taliban and Hamas this morning - in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize".Woodhouse also said "The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It's no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore - it's an embarrassing label to claim," Woodhouse said.

Audrey, you obviously think that the UAW's Pension Plan is more important than the taxpaying investors that got the shaft in the GM deal. This Administration threw out bankruptcy law and the POTUS said that he did not stand with those who had invested in the company. He called them "greedy" as he took their money and handed it to the UAW which had invested squat. And you can wait for GM to be back for more money.
So far this Administration has chosen the unions, ACORN, SEIU etc over the investors and taxpayers. They have called out individual private citizens who disagree with them. Those who founded this country never intended the government to own our industry or banks. The Fed should be audited. Ron Paul is correct on that.
The UN seems to be too important these days. We do not have many friends there. Many have long resented our success and cheer our weakening.

After we Democrats cheered over our first Black/White President, the quickly eroding Republican Party, thought they could "out-do" us by naming Mr. Steele, a Black, as the Head of the National Republican Party. Most Blacks do not take him seriously, and probably feel that he represents for the Republicans what the Yard Black did for the Plantation Master...notably "keeping his slaves in their place"!
Well, those days are over in the Democratic Party. It may be called misuse and abuse by the sour grapes Republicans who know Blacks will never trust them......But it is certainly "useful to our Party". Blacks are making their presence known, felt and appreciated!

Three days ago, I sumbmitted the follow Letter to the Editor....to the major news papers of Houma, my hometown, and to previous cities of residence: Lafayette and Baton Rouge.
It appeared in Houma's Daily Courier 3 days ago, and should be in the 2 others very shortly.

Moreover, these same companies have existing outrageous practices that need to be reined-in.
By the way, if you still think, that we have the best health care in the world, read the World Health Organization’s report. The United States ranks 37 of 39 industrialized countries. That means that per capita, we have more men and women dying of curable diseases than do our big allies…….Canada, France, England. And, don’t think, it cannot happen to someone in your family.
