The rightwing's joy at Chicago losing the Olympics demonstrates the lack of concern they have for Americans. That was evident in the debate over the stimulus money where Jindal was willing to deny Louisiana money for high speed rail and unemployment compensation just to oppose President Obama. It's also apparent in the debate over healthcare reform where the rightwing is discouraging Senate Republicans from working for a bipartisan bill. It's all about beating Obama, not what's best for the country.

CN surely you jest. Chicago politicians are above that type of crooked politics. The pitch for the Olympics - like the bailouts and huge deficits - is simply a method of stimulating the economy.

"I don't think any Olympic teams would be playing the Chicago Bears."... Cute.... Of course I wanted USA to be awarded the Olympics.... We need the jobs right away.... But, it's easy to say "ho-hum" to Chicago.... C'mon-- all those beautiful skyscrapers, and that mild windy weather?.. Maybe they should've pitched the Poconos.

Those terrible racists in Copenhagen! Didn't they realize that the Obama's wanted the Olympics for his grand departure after his second term? He's commander in chief not the mayor or governor in chief and not the salesman in chief. Besides I heard that Valerie Jarrett stood to gain because of her ties to the real estate where they had planned to locate the venue. Wake up people.

Visitors to Illinois would be visitors to the U.S. I don't think any Olympic teams would be playing the Chicago Bears.

Thank Gawd New Orleans wasn't on the 'list of site considerations'.... The gawddamn f.............................. media spin and blah blah blah on the local news stations would have become enough to run me out of this state for good.... I sort of wish I lived back up in Alexandria, at least then I would be insulated from having to listen to Katrina and Gustav news every other day..... And thank gawd David Letterman is up in New York instead of New Orleans or we would be listening to that crap for the next 6 months..... And thank Gawd Bingles the clown never got accused of having any inappropriate behaviour around Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer...... This place is getting to be more and more like a crazy house every day... What a bunch of narcacistic fiends......................

He has only managed to quadruple Bush's record setting deficit, a factor of four, not ten. Of course Bush was foolish for allowing this level of spending, which means Obama is only four times as foolish as George W. Bush, not ten times as foolish.

Those who criticize the President for trying are just like a water-soaked Cajun on the Bayous after a Hurricane. Un-like President Bush (who spent 4 years overseas as a tourist for the last Olympic games, President Obama went to Europe , and in less than 24 hours, including departure and return, he addressed two major issues, the 2016 Olympics and the G-6 conference. The first a failure, the second a success. It's damned if you do, and damned if you don't, with his critics. But one thing is for sure our great President always gives it his best shot. And he can do ten times more in ten times less time than President Bush did.

Chicago needed a better "Presentation"--- We lost the Ad-war....Furthermore, who wants to get crammed into downtown windy-Chicago? What's there to see, the Sears Tower? New Orleans Saints fans have witnessed first-hand how Chicago treats its visitors... Weigh your options::: the mountains of South America?--- or Illinois?... No brainer - even without a presentation.

Well, they didn't make the first cut. Do you think Obama and his political heritage in Chicago helped or hurt the cause?

Despite WB's classless remarks about his own country's contender for the summer olympics, Chicago would be an excellent choice for the 2020 summer games.

The Olympic Committee is smarter than the American voters. They didn't fall for the Chicago street thug offer.
