Bernard Madoff has been sentenced to 150 years for his involvement in the most walloping Ponzi scheme ever.  The sentencing occurred in U.S. District Court in New York.

Judge Denny Chin announced the sentence after Madoff said he was sorry.

Madoff said, “"I live in a tormented state for all the pain and suffering I created,"… "I left a legacy of shame. It is something I will live with for the rest of my life."

Madoff is responsible for billions of dollars worth off loss in the scheme.

Madoff said that saying I’m sorry is not enough.

One of the things about the Bernie Madoff case that sticks in my mind is the way in which information is manipulated in financial circles, often to the advantage of large investors. I see similar problems with everything from Enron to the financial meltdown last fall and Congress seems unwilling to investigate. Over the past fifteen years or so, if not longer, information about businesses has become more valuable than what those enterprises produce and sell, which is where the little guy gets the big petroleum jelly-laden shaft since he has little access to it. I am convinced that the failure of our regulatory authority will be most closely tied to its ignorance of the handling of information and I want that problem exposed. And kpf, I think waterboarding is just a little too kind for Bernie Madoff. Let's send him to Malyasia for a weekly caning.

Personally I think we should - to find he answers to two questions - waterboard the S.O.B. One - we'll find out if waterboarding is effective or not, Two - the payoff should be worth enough so that we can live with our guilt for torturing him.

Yes, sorry is not enough, BIG QUESTIONS; Where did all the money go, who was affected, and how do they get reembersed? Perhaps for every 100 million recovered one year could be 'knocked off' his sentence....
